Encyclopedia Brown
If you have that as well as the Hardy Boys, you could have read 'The Mad Scientists' Club' series. I always thought there was only one book, Wikipedia tells me there are four. I wonder if the other three will be as enjoyable 50 years later?
One final favourite, 'Ev Kris: Aviation Detective'. William F. Hallstead, author.

The s***house wall at work had this graffiti, left by a devotee of the saga:
One ring to rule them
One ring to bind them
One ring to find them
Underneath that, some wag had written:
And one ring for the ding dong that wrote this!
Guess you had to be there.

Frank Parlato Jr., owner of the Niagara Falls Reporter has been all over the NXIVM story for many months, mostly at the other paper he owns, Artvoice. Check the Artvoice website for many articles on Raniere and his 'harem'.

Why does Captain Renault's quote from 'Casablanca' come to mind? ?

I love it, but I wish they’d dump the watered down, made for TV three day format. Get it done Saturday and Sunday.
Hell, put them on the clocks they use in chess matches. 10 minutes to decide, or you go to the end of that round. That'll get some of these GMs and staff hustling. ?

Why don’t we just trade our first number 1for the next ten years....wait let’s trade our entire 2018 draft for number 1 overall browns need players

...Let’s just do it and trade both number ones this year and 2019 and 2020 number ones....
Now, taking a cue from politicians, in 2019 and 2020 the Bills deny they traded these picks. There will be a few who will actually remember, and can prove the picks were traded away, but most of the rest of the public, pundits, and owners won't be any wiser. Just show up on draft day in '19 and '20, and draft where the team record shows it appropriate. ?

I don't know about that. Bobby may not have the physical tools of the other two but he was the one who manged to get Joe Namath to come to the house. He would be the better field general, IMO.
I don't know about field general, but there's the makings of a GM. (Don't let Namath out of the building!)

I wonder if the NFL GMs are reading these message boards, and getting a laugh over all the speculation the fans are doing.

Drain one, keep it closed. They got the new one. Or keep one in standby... Why both?
The Canadian reservoir is that small that if the need for power generation demands and all generators in the Beck 1 and 2 complexes are in operation, the existing water sources (1900s canal, and the two 'blast and excavate' tunnels of the early 1950s) could not have kept the reservoir full. Couple that with both tunnels from the 1950s showing reduced flow and some deterioration, Ontario Hydro (now called Hydro One, I believe) had plans for the 2006 project back in the 80s. I have been told at least one of the 50s tunnels cannot be dewatered due to concerns over more damage occurring in the 'dry' state. Rather than tie up the board with this civil engineering, email me at doccharlie42<at>gmail<dot>com if you have more questions or want to discuss the project.

BTW... Ontario is digger bigger power culverts, bigger diversion as we speak... It just flies under radar.
Are you referring to the Niagara Tunnel Project, the 10 kilometre hydro tunnel that was built in 2006-2013? Amazing project. Recently there's been talk of draining the hydro canal that was built in the early 1900s in order to clear rockfalls that cut down on flow. Last I heard they were unsure if the gate up towards McLeod Rd. could be operated without some remediation on its equipment, since it's been years from the last working of it.

Buddy was so obsolete as GM they should have had a display for him at the Smithsonian in the dinosaur section for him.
'Cornpone' Nix is how I'll always remember him. His pressers finish second to Coach Stephenson's "the team showed a lot of character today" gems.

Tasker is good. Much better at this than doing broadcasts of games.
I must be listening at the wrong times. Tasker seems to repeatedly stumble at speaking 'off the cuff'. Jones was much better at that skill. Then again, 15 hours a week is a lot of airtime to have to fill in the segments where they're not interviewing Bills staffers or 'experts'. This show also tends to 'toe the line' in regards to Bills policy, whereas the other WGR hosts can kvetch about team policies and decisions. Can you picture 3 hours daily of Van Miller, Stan Barron, and Jeff 'Fan' Kaye doing the show? The best show was the Monday night segment Murphy would do years ago with Larry Felser, before Murphy worked for the team.

Subtlety and sarcasm don't convey well on an internet message board, do they? Unless you throw in these: ???? with the comments.

Years ago, a couple of friends ran a small Buffalocentric sports paper as part of a journalism class they were in. Each issue had an underlying theme, the 'f*** you' issue took on anyone who the editors figured screwed a Buffalo sports team. Whether it was an opposing player, national sportscaster, or even a hometown player or coach they felt had done harm or disservice to the team, the offender was blasted. 'SinceThe70s' middle digit there gave me a good laugh. Had the editors been 40 years later, they would probably have a website.

I haven't closely followed the story, except noting the fact that he seemed to have some power over these supposedly intelligent women. Who is he? The one thing I did note was that once Parlato got his fingers into Artvoice, it stopped being an independent investigative news voice and only seemed to shill for Carl Paladino and cover the NXIVM story.
