  1. It's funny that last year it was non-stop "he takes too many sacks" "too many interceptions" "bad decisions" "hold the ball too long".

He essentially doesn't make any of those mistakes and the thread is "it's all bledsoe's fault!!"

We win the game today if any ONE of the following happened today:

    - Moulds doesn't fumble at the 2 yard line

    - Lindell doesn't miss a 41 yard kick

    - Clements tries to bat the ball down/punch it away from jimmy smith on the 4th & 14 rather than try to pick it off.

    - the jags don't make a great play as time expires

    - we don't try some silly lateral to moulds

    - villarrial doesn't take a key holding penalty

    - london fletcher doesn't boot the football into the end zone in frustration after the 4th & 14 penalty.

    - we don't call a screen play to damion sheldon on 3rd & 1 from the 1.

Yet again, our vaunted defense gave it up late in the game. It happened at key times last year--3-4 games where a key stop would have preserved a win or given the offense one more chance--they choked last year and they choked again week 1. Blame this one on Gray if you like instead of the players. The D had been impressive all day long by pressuring all over the field. What happened on the last drive?

TKOs hit on the tight end? Extremely impressive, one of the best I have seen from a Bill in years, but next time why don't we wait until stopping them on fourth down to celebrate? Nose tackles--watch the friggin ball. When it moves you move. What is difficult about that?

Blame Bledsoe for this loss? Freakin ludicrous (not you disco). He put the team in a position to win this game numerous times. Passes were dropped, passes were fumbled, penalties at key times either killed drives for us or sustained them for the Jags.

Blame Bledsoe because he has infected the psyche of the team? Is that why Gray called off the dogs?

Was Bledsoe's play perfect? Absolutely not, but he was confident and crisp in his reads. He read his progressions and moved quickly from receiver to receiver and he generally put the ball where it needed to be.

Lay this loss on the D and the coordinators.

  2. I think it shows you a couple things.

    1. He isn't the type of player to go for one good year to make the next contract $$$. He is a steady performer, a lunchbox high motor guy :) . How many times have we seen a player have one great year and then fall off the face of the earth after hitting it rich? It happens in every sport.

    2. He is able to see beyond today. Too many players and people in general get wrapped up in couldas. Damn, if I had waited until the season ended I coulda squeezed an extra million out of the owner.

What the Bills deserve from him is increased production. His sack numbers have risen each year and I don't think he has peaked out yet. My crystal ball tells me he gets 14 this year. Pressure from the other side will push QBs his way.

  3. At first glance I would agree, but remember their headcoach is the same guy that let TT run wild in our first SB and still guarenteed his team the win. Could the same plan have been in place last night?

Secondly--no team changes its spots from week to week more than the Pats. One week they take away the run, the next the pass, or a specific receiver. What they have shown is the ability to make plays and win in very different ways. I would guess that when the time comes they will be geared up to stop our running game and dare DB to beat them. We shall see how that one works out.

No doom and gloom here, they did show a weakness last night. The loss of big Ted may be huge for the pats. I kept an eye on their nose tackle (sorry, can't remember his name--guy from Chi) early in the game and he was getting pushed around. Much hope for us there, too early for over reactions though.

  4. No problem with the hit. He collared him, but no blow to the head. Manning also flinched, given another second he would have been in the fetal position. In other words he lowered himself, so a hit that would have been below the pads was around the neck.

Stupid play by Manning, stupid protection scheme--unless someone blew their assignment. The fullback on the play just breezed by WM into the flat. He should have at least chipped him to slow him a bit. If DB took a sack like that at a critical point in the game (none more critical) this place would go absolutely nuts. Wonder how Colts fans are reacting?

  5. anyone else notice that the ne and indy game isn't on the sheet?

Thursday games aren't included. In earlier years many players forgot to get picks in on time for early games. To remedy the situation...Thursday games don't count (or appear).

  6. There will obviously be a mix, but if you believe this we are a run first team. Our best success against the jags may be the pass, but the running game won't be ignored.

"Willpower," said Mularkey when asked what it takes to be a run-oriented offense. "One thing you can't do is get frustrated. You have to understand there's going to be no-gain plays and maybe a negative play. But you have to be persistent with it and your players have to know you're going to be persistent with it. Don't ever show a sign of frustration out there because you have to believe in what you're doing. I believe they do. On top of that, we (the coaches) have to react the same way. We can't get frustrated in our play calling."'

  7. ;););) Should read the rules ahead of time. Glad it's still early enough to change my survivor pick.

Pick a separate SURVIVOR selection on your picksheet each week. If the team you select wins, you survive into the following week. Once you have selected a team, you may not select them again for the season, or until the SURVIVOR contest restarts.

I didn't realize you could only pick a survivor once in a season. Oh dopey me!

Logic tells me I should look for the "worst" sure thing each week. In other words, look for an bad team playing a worse team. Any advice?

  8. I for one am a little nervous. I don't know if it's anticipation, hope, or what but I'm getting butterflies already and it's only Wednesday. I think I'd be even more nervous if I was going to the game but I just pray we play well this year and avoid major injuries to starters.

    GO BILLS!!

    Girly man!

Just kidding. Let me smack myself in the head for you. ;) OK, much better now! The anticipation is killing me. Can the D be as good as last year? Can the offense improve? Will Clements stay away from option passes inside the red zone? Hell yes, I'm ~nervous~
