  1. Disagree that Shady is the whole offense. The Oline has been giving him huge holes until yesterday, the Fins Dline was very well anchored and ready for our ground attack.

Touchdown Mike is an excellent back with a better yard per carry average

than most runners in the league since he has been here, and that includes Shady.

We couldn't stop the run or get them off the field on 3rd downs.

Thw only weakness I see in the Pats right now is they can't rush the passer very well. They miss Chandler Jones badly (who looked dominant last night against Seattle). So we will need to sling it in order to win this game.

Blount is somehow fast and elusive this year, and he'll be hammering at us more than usual. He has more td's than Shady and averages about the same yards per game.

Bills D at home with Dareus back still has a chance against anybody though. I say Bills win this one to complete the sweep, AND we punk the Seahawks who have zero offense the following week to go 6-3.

    Are you feeling okay?

  2. I must admit I had little confidence that our offense would score the winning TD. It was for several reasons. The O line was getting beat badly, the fins had all the momentum, our offense was out of sync, and Taylor isn't an elite passer.

  3. I am very disappointed in todays loss. I figured it would be a tough game and I am not surprised we lost. Miami looked great last week and we are banged up...Just really hurt to watch that second half. Miami was like a train that couldn't be stopped. I couldn't help but have flashbacks of previous Bills teams. Did anyone feel the same way? I know its only one game but this one kind of took the wind out of my optimism. A win against the Pats will change everything. How in the world can we stop Brady and company when we couldn't stop hapless Trannyhill and Jay A?

  4. I feel like the defensive game plans have been vastly improved. Last year I felt like Rex was inflexible, lacked creativeness, and under utilized/misplaced our players talents. Now, I feel like our game plans are cohesive and our players strengths are being utilized more effectively. It is only a small sample but It sure looks encouraging to me.

  5. I am so happy about this win. Honestly, I didn't think we would win the game. I really don't think we can compete with the upper echelon teams such as the Pats with healthy Gronk and Brady, Pitt Steelers, or Broncos. Hope I am wrong. Nevertheless, this is becoming an exciting season for me. I am so stoked at how this team fights and seems to gut out a win. Past team would have grumbled. Not a big fan of Rex but our players so do play hard for him. Now, lets stay focused and beat the 49ers.

  6. Some really good posts here. Both sides have valid points. No doubt Bills fans are knowledgeable. Pointing the finger at Whaley is understandable. However, I prefer to look at the Bills organization in a macro viewpoint instead of micro. I clearly think the whole organization is not on the same page. The owners, GM, coaches, and players are not working cohesively. I doubt believe they share the same plan on how to build a team or just don't know how. The problem is larger than Whaley. It's easy to point the fingers at Whaley and to some point it is justified. As a fan, I am just so tired of losing. I live outside of the Buffalo area and I can tell you without question our team gets little to no respect. IMHO, our organization has been dysfunctional for years...

  7. Pats bullet points:

-Bill is a fantastic defensive coach

    -They got Brady

-They invest heavily in offense, and Brady support staff (both football players and coaches)

-Bill makes lemonade out of the defense when he has too, b/c he can and he supports the offense like a rational coach

-When Brady is out or things are bad, they still have the stable infrastructure of a modern offensive scheme, talented guys familiar with it, and an adjustable defense with a good coach

All of this allows them to game plan to win each week. If they game plan correctly and play well they have a chance every week, no matter what.

    We suck.

Well said. If Rex was the Pats coach tonight his game plan would have been to air it to make himself look like a genius.

  8. with the injuries we had last year he D would have stunk as well....this year can we get beyond the Browns and Bears. Revisit this is week 10[/quot

I am not confident this defense will be any good in ten weeks. I dot share your optimism. Ryan run deenses haven't been good in years. Thurman is a rex puppet and rob is incompetent. That doesn't give me a promising outlook. Hope okinawa's am wrong.

  9. Watch Carson Wentz then watch Tyrod.

    Let's hit the draft.

I couldn't agree more watching Wentz. That was really impressive. He was in total command and remained very poised in the pocket. Hitting his receivers with pressure in his face. His ability to scramble and run. He seemed to have it. Only a two game sample but the Eagles have to be so excited. Ram fans have to be feeling sck to their stomach. I can't say I ever felt that way about EJ. I think TT has some great qualities but my unprofessional eye says he's not a franchise QB...
  10. Because they're in the same division as the Patriots and...because Buffalo.

I don't think being in the same division would stop him from coming here. The Buffalo issue is an obstacle. Lots of variables in place. How bad does he want to be a head coach again? what is his price? Do other teams have interest? Etc... I am not sure if he's the right fit considering his failure in Denver. I think its worth exploring . I am not so sure we couldn't lure him here.

  11. So first decision has been made to try and help our embattled QB. Everyone should understand the decision to fire Roman has everything to do with 2 financial decisions the Bills have coming up. First, To pay Taylor 27M next year and Second, to pick up Sammy's 5th year option in April.

So Bills fans here is the questions.

If season ended today would you pick up Taylors option Yes or No and Why?

If No what do you need to see from him to change your opinion going forward?

I likely will ask these same questions around mid season as well.

    So I will start.

No I would not pick up his option, because there hasnt been a hint of progression in the areas he lacked all last year.

Anticipation throws. What I mean by that is if Sammy has a dig and your read is to throw that Dig that ball should be out before player comes out of his break and to a window, not waiting for the player to come out of break and see if it is open, then it is too late. The CB has time to recover.

    2. Usage of the middle of the field. He has made any route in the middle of the field absolutely useless. That includes essentially turning our duel threat TE into a 7M a year blocking TE.

    3. To a lesser extent (because i cannot put all the blame on him yet) presnap reads. Reason i cannot put all the blame on him about this yet because i dont know what Roman said he can and cant do at the line.

    4. Needs to fix the new problem that popped up his short route accuracy. He seems he is trying to aim these routes. The problem with a short route is they are specifically for YAC, well cant get that with inaccurate passss. Defense gets time to react and recover

    5. Ghost pressure. Over past two weeks Taylor has been reacting to alot of ghost pressure instead of hanging in there and delivering the ball.

Now the areas he needs to improve on before i am handing him a 27M check are the 1st two. I can handle the ghost pressure (all QBs see it sometimes) and the short pass inaccuracy right now because those are out of the norm for him.

Also giving him a pass on 3 right now because i can only think that was part of the reason Roman was fired. However will be watching this closely next couple weeks because this may turn into a must fix as well because this issue was present last year as well.

So there you have it what I see Taylor needs to improve on to earn his 27M and wheh i say improve i mean alot at this point because all offseason that is all i read out of the OBD spin machine is how these areas are no longer an issue.

Macbobby, I appreciate your post. You obviously put a lot of time into it. Where and what makes you think we got rid of Roman to keep and or resign Taylor/Watkins? That premise just doesn't really make sense to me. Maybe, I am missing something.

  12.

I genuinely think they will have a solid gameplan defensively, but I also think that the Cardinals and Arians will figure it out in a couple drives and we will make no effort to adjust.

I concur about not being able to adjust. The Jets game is all you have to see to validate this conclusion. Ryan is a sub par coach at best. Love his bravado but even that has wandered. He knows his days in Buffalo are numbered.

  13.

Symptom. Root Cause is the entire organizational instability...

Lack of a GM with full authority and a vision they are empowered to execute. The better coaches we had are able to build a scheme around the talent, but were never able to execute well in all 3 phases at the same time. Part of that was poor personnel decisions, part of that is the turnover in coaches, part of that is the players we bring in. Someone else said it best in another thread; there is no cohesive vision and we are just playing fantasy football. Collecting talent but don't have a true blueprint for what we are trying to be. If we do it is very poorly communicated, and it is poorly executed as well.

I do like Whaley but he either needs full control or has to be dumped for someone who has it (preferably someone with experience in a good organization who can duplicate some processes).

We have had some real bozos for HCs, but I do think Chan could have succeeded if he was able to get a Schwartz/Pettine with the right players. I have a feeling they are trying to do this with Rex, but I'm not sure he is the right coach at this time for this.

Very good response. I would say it starts from the top with ownership and trickles down. I think it is vital that all the components of a football organization are in sync and share the same vision. Look at the 90's with a active owner, great GM, great innovation offensive coordinator, a motivating coach, and of course great players. They were in sync and made the excellent choices . Remember, Jimbo was in Houston and I believe reluctant to play for the Bills. Fast forward to the last 15 years and who can agree with the all the moving parts working together. Heck, we just fired our OC after two games. Top organizations just don't that. It is embarrassing. Soon, we will have another head coach with more turnover, more changes, and new promises. When will the merry go round end because my head is spinning and I'm about to vomit. God is it tough to be a Bills fan...GO BILLS
