  1. You can't wait for value when it comes to drafting a QB. They almost always go earlier then they should. However, picking Mahomes at 10 is a huge reach. I happen to agree with

Gunnerbill's analysis. I wouldn't be against trading back picking up a pick and trying to get him in the second or third round. I have no doubt he is going to be overhyped and probably taken too soon. Question is will it be Buffalo.

  2. Sure the team has talent. However, I don't believe this team scares anyone. I would venture to say when the schedule comes out opposing teams more often than not will circle in a win for their team. This team doesn't scare anyone because they aren't that good. Various reasons for that. Poor coaching, lack of cohesiveness, poor game planning and adjustments, no franchise QB, lack of WR talent, weak safeties, average LB, lack of pass rush, always have injuries and lack of depth, etc...You get the picture. Hate to be a downer but some people here amaze me with their assessment of this team.

I beg to differ with you BADAL. I'll take Tampa Bay team over Buffalo's roster in a heart beat.

  3. Romo is a total wildcard though. I agree that he's an upgrade (potentially) on the field. The problem is will he stay on the field? He's 37 and hasn't played a full season since 2014. He is looking at a 2 year deal somewhere if he hits the market. In addition, teams looking for a QB outside of Houston and maybe Denver & KC aren't close. That's his whole market. The market for TT could be Arizona, SF, Chicago, Cleveland, Jets, Denver, maybe KC, maybe JAX, and maybe even Houston (the last 3 unlikely). His age makes him a more viable option for someone like SF than Romo.

I would be really surprised if TT didn't sign the biggest QB contract this offseason if he hits the market (this assumes Cousins stays). I would think that the AAV will be in line with Romo's but with another year or 2 added. Romo may not even get a 2nd year guaranteed. Romo will be something like 2 years $38M with $22M guaranteed, with a $17M year one cap hit. TT is probably looking at 3 years and $45M with $30M guaranteed with $25M of that $30M hitting in the 1st 2 years.

Good insight Kirby. Sounds like we don't have a lot of great options.

  4.

yea when teams started blitzing and getting pressure on Wentz he crumbled...just like the knock on him coming out said. Goff/Wentz are bums. I would take Mahomes/Trubisky over either of them today - knowing they are projects

I don't think Goff will ever be a franchise QB. Wentz has potential but not likely as well. I am not high on Mahomes or Trubisky. They are worth a shot if taken in third round. However, we all know they will be long gone. IMHO, they are not first round material.

  5. This team has an abundance of holes. As seen by the variety of opinions here. The obvious answer to me is QB. Without a top tier QB, is it extremely difficult to win a super bowl. Exception is an outrageous defense like the Broncos two year ago. Our defense is not even close to that now or in the foreseeable future. Hands down a QB but that's easier said then done. OBD doesn't exactly have a stellar track record when it comes to finding and or developing a QB. Refer to EJ, Fitz, Trent Edwards, JP, Rob Johnson, ...

  6. I'm not sure it is. I think the back half of last season he looked really bad. I am not writing him off yet but I certainly don't believe it is pretty clear. If he hadn't had the first 4 games he had the narrative on the two trade ups last year would be "disasters".

His last 8 games he was barely a 60% passer throwing 7TDs and 9INTs and averaging less than 6ypa. Simply put he is still and intruiging prospect but he was miles away from convincing last season.

I don't think Wentz or Goff has any chance of having a better career than Winston or Mariota.

IMHO, Wentz and Goff were classic examples of teams reaching for a QB. I don't believe they should have went 1 and 2. This year teams will reach again for the likes of Kizer, Watson, Trubisky, and Mahomes. Question is will it be the Bills? Hope they learned from the EJ debacle. Go get Brain Hoyer or Grapalo...

  7. Until there's further evidence, Jimmy Garoppolo = Matt Cassell. Looks great in the Patriots system on that team, but then went somewhere else and looked like a journeyman. The Bills franchise doesn't need another year of adding journeymen. I wouldn't trade a half eaten burrito for Garoppolo.

You could be right. But, you make lots of unsustained conclusions. Journeyman? Cassell? ....

  8. IMHO, he is worth a first round pick. I would trade our first round pick for him in a minute. I know my opinion is in the minority. However, look at the college prospects vs. Garapolo, Garapolo is hands down a better opportunity to be successful. Who knows what next years QB draft will look like? I like what I saw In Garapolo. Granted it wasn't much and it was under the NE system. Don't beat me up too bad.

  9. I dislike the Patriots as much as anyone. I'm not happy with what happened. However, I refuse to let myself get angry. I'd say I'm more disappointed than angry. As a football fan, it is really difficult not to give the whole Patriot organization its props. Brady is a GOAT and without a doubt the best QB I have ever seen. Belicheck is an amazing coach and no one is even close to him. The Falcons blew it but the Patriots still had to deliver and finish. Was there any doubt Brady would lead his team to the game trying TD. Answer is no...I don't hate the Patriots players. It's the Patriot fans I have a hard time with. Nevertheless, we are witnessing a dynasty with one of the all time great QB and coach. I feel incredibly envious...

  10. I'm cancelling my Sunday ticket tomorrow. I need a few years away from football. It really doesn't matter who we bring in, off-season moves, draft, etc. I'm exhausted following this team and rooting for whoever plays the Pats. Until Bill and Brady are done, there is no chance. They've ruined football for me. Damn you Falcons!!! Epic collapse/choke job in the history of sport.

Don't fool yourself. Time will heal your pain and you will be circling the wagons again.

  11. He is amazing to watch. He has it all but his will to win is what sets him apart from the other greats. No doubt in my mind he wasn't going to score with 3 minutes to go. My only hope was they we going to miss 2 point conversation. The game was over when they won the coin flip.

  12. Great game, fun to watch and the Bills are rebuilding...again. just appreciate the best of all time because it's incredible if you sit back and really think about it.

Well said. Sometimes you just have to appreciate greatness. I will sleep like a baby.

Yea it's a setup where the Falcons went up 25 and had a chance to take 3 knees and kick a fg after julios monster catch.

Get it together man. Pats had under 10% chance to win game after Julio catch no ?

No doubt, the Falcons really blew it. Three runs after that catch was the no brainer. Pats would have used all their timeouts and been down 11 with around 3 minutes to go. I would like their chances from there. Pats would have needed to recover onside kick to win or tie. I couldn't believe the play calling...Utter incompetence if you ask me. You have to blame the coach at this point. He should have demanded three runs.

Alex Smith's cap hit is $17 mill and $21 mill. For the Chiefs.

Any team that traded for him would only have to pay his salary, not the amortized remains of his bonuses. So you'd only have to pay $10.8 salary plus a $2 mill roster bonus this year and and $14.5 mill plus a $2 mill roster bonus next year. Well worth it and over two years a bit more than $10 mill cheaper than Tyrod. I'd pay that in a second.

But I don't see the Chiefs letting him go unless they get Romo.

Disagree. He's the best game manager in football and has often shown the ability to step up and play beyond that level when he has to.

If Smith was available, I'd take him. And keep drafting guys as well, but I'd take Smith.

I didn't know the salary savings. If the opportunity exists, I would upgrade to Alex Smith and save 10 mil or so. However, my excitement would be tempered. Alex Smith as a Buffalo Bill just doesn't get me super excited.

  14. It's definitely slim. I would say under 10%. It was still a swing worth taking as opposed to a Kevin Hogan type whose odds are 0%.

Maybe that's the point with these QBs. Once you get beyond the top 3 picks they are all longshots. Some guys have less holes, some guys have less upside. You need to identify what it is you are looking for in a QB and get that guy.

    Fair enough.

  15. First, you have to draft a QB who does a few critical things well. For me, its accuracy, timing, and reaction to pressure. Quite the opposite of what EJ does and did in college. A big arm is great but not my first measure of success. Frankly, I haven't seen any of the top tier QBs in this draft that possess the vital skill set to become a franchise QB. The Bills would be wise not to use an early pick on a QB.
