  1.

I don't think Williams is as good as either Jeffrey or Evans coming out...And those two were my favorite players in their respective Drafts...I'm the one that would have Drafted Jeffrey at #10 overall (over Gilmore), and Evans instead of Watkins (though I loved Sammy too)...So I feel like I have a good gauge on this comparison...

I like Williams and I'm OK with the Bills Drafting him (though I think #10 is too high and I do not see much logic in using a top 10 pick on a #2 WR)...But he's not on the level of Jeffrey and Evans as the complete package coming out IMHO...Williams has areas of strength that are REAL strong, but the rest is a mixed bag...I agree Williams will be a good Red Zone target, and his ability on 50/50 balls is undeniable...

I'm not really anti-Williams...But I do like Corey Davis more...And I'm pretty much anti-WR or TE at #10 for the Bills...I'd MUCH rather have Reuben Foster and JuJu...or Hooker and Zay Jones than a WR at #10 and what you can get elsewhere in the 2nd...But that may be just me... B-)

I agree with your assessment. IMHO, Williams just doesn't scream elite and isn't great value at 10. I am hoping the Bills can find a trade partner and trade down for more picks.

  2. I must be in the minority. I seem to enjoy Sully's rants and for the most part I concur with his articles.

As mentioned, Whaley deserves plenty of blame. However, the blame travels upward and downward. OBD remains dysfunctional and yet so many here refuse to acknowledge it. I suppose its more fun to be optimistic? I tend to look at the picture in a macro point of view. My biggest problem with Whaley is his inability and ineffectiveness to bring unity to the team. In fact, I think he has created and promoted instability. As I have stated before, the team needs to share the SAME vision and game plan to build a winner. That clearly hasn't happened under Whaley's tenure.

  3. I take no disrespect, I just disagree strongly. I stand by my evaluation and I am happy to be judged on that.

Gunner, great response. I respect your opinion and knowledge. Glad we can be civil when we disagree.

It's about three years early to say there are no franchise QBs in this draft. Three at least.

If that's the way it looks to you, fair enough, but that's an opinion, not a fact. Could very easily be a correct opinion too. I personally am not 100% convinced, though.

Oh Thurman. You are so right. Way too early to tell and of course I can be dead wrong. That's the beauthy of this forum....

  4. My pick is Deshaun Watson (if still there) and he helps because I believe he will be a franchise Quarterback.

Now I know a lot don't agree with me on that... we have done that argument to death my view on him is documented in my QB evaluation thread I won't repeat it again. If you want to know why I believe that you can find the thread.

What cannot be argued is finding a franchise Quarterback would be the single best way to topple New England.

There are no franchise QB's in this draft. Teams will chase this year just like last year. No thanks to chasing Watson. His shortcomings are well documented. This style of QB rarely transforms into a franchise QB. Give me the accurate, quick release, and great vision QB . That QB doesn't exist in this draft. Gunner, with respect, I think you are way off.

  5. Indeed :)

Let's face it, Whaley doesn't have a solid plan for this team. He appears to be like a dog chasing his tail. Would you really be surprised if he traded away more picks in this draft? I expect him to.

I wouldn't be surprised if Whaley makes some moves on draft day. I like the idea of us moving up or down and not just being stagnant like past GM's. Granted, he has made some errors that seem to be inexcusable. However, he has made some pretty good moves as well. Both are well documented. This organization is poorly run and Whaley has to shoulder some of the blame.

  6. Generally, I like Whaley but as noted he has made some glaring mistakes. I'm not going to rehash them. EJ sucked at FSU and his chances of being a franchise QB was miniscule. I would not have had any problem if they took him in the fourth round similar to Jones. If the Bills select a QB at 10 it will be a reach in my eyes. Will the reach be worth it?

  7. And yet he was on the hotseat after his 3rd season. What changed? He found a Quarterback. It is as simple as that folks.

The bad GMs are the ones who have found a Quarterback and still can't win.... the mediocre ones have haven't found a Quarterback... and the good ones find a Quarterback and then plug in pieces around him.

I think Whaley is an excellent pro personnel guy who has generally done a good job with FA. He has been an average drafter who hasn't been helped by the flip flopping of coaches and schemes.

    Good post Gunner.

  8. I would agree with you but here's the problem. You are a 21 year old who is a qb at a major university who has been in trouble most of your life. Your next move is to try and fight a 16 year old for a football hit?

This dude doesn't have a brain. He is entitled and dumb as rocks. Imagine a regular guy threatens to shoot up a bar with an AK? I know for a fact he's been bounced out of several other bars as well.

But that said, even though I think there is like a 1% chance he becomes a franchise qb, I'd be cool with a 6th or lower. Bring in every qb and just have an all out competition.

At this point, I'd be fine with taking a shot with him too. Nothing to really lose and a whole lot to gain.

  9. I feel like Deshaun Watson is one of those guys that people are overthinking. He's really good. He's going to be a good pro.

I disagree. I feel like he is overhyped by his championship win. Even in that game he was quite inconsistent with his passes and decision making. He is nowhere near being pro ready. Of course, he has upside and I can be wrong. IMHO, I wouldn't come close to taking him in the first round. No thanks...

  10. I hear you on drafting a QB. My problem is there is no QB in this class that's worthy of the number 10 pick. No doubt a QB will be taken before that because of the value of the QB position and the desperation of teams to find their franchise QB.

Kizer - just not impressed when I saw him play. Big arm very slow eyes and vision. No thanks.

Watson - When has this type of QB been very successful? I want a pocket passer with great vision, quick release, and accuracy. I don't see these necessary qualities in Watson. Good work ethic and good legs only goes so far...No thanks

Mahomes - Pretty raw and needs time to develop. Played against many porous defenses that made him look really good. Need to be more accurate, better field vision and decision making. Will need at least two years to develop and learn. Should be a late 2nd to 3rd round pick. Yes, to a second round pick.

Trubisky - Small sample size to look at. Kid seemed to panic when pressured. Played mostly in the shotgun. Has big upside but IMHO he is greatly overhyped. I can see why people are high on him. He will most likely be gone before 10. I feel like he should be taken late in the first round.

This QB class really doesn't excite me.
