I know McDermott will be back next year, and I'm not necessarily even opposed to that, but I don't think he's the guy who's going to get us a championship. Would love to be proven wrong, but the past several years have been the epitome of "good but not great."

Missing the playoffs even once with a healthy Josh Allen should immediately put you on the hot seat. Not fired, but on notice at least.

Honestly, I support throwing drinks on Jags fans. They're insufferable. And I mean literally every Jags fan, all seven of them, without exception.

Allen didn't play well, but he got zero help from anybody not named Shakir or Kincaid today. He was pressing, and we don't want that.

Do the officials in CLE-HOU think people are tuning in to watch them?

The Bills played rather poorly last night, but they have enough talent that they can still beat a sad-sack group like the Chargers despite a -3 turnover differential. No team plays their A-game every week, and there's no shame in taking an ugly W. What's the problem here?

The penalty seemed a little harsh ... until I looked at his history:
Prior to this hit, he was fined 5 separate times for unnecessary roughness this season.
There's a clear history and intent here. This last one could have paralyzed his opponent. The suspension was the correct move.
Thanks for posting this. The suspension seems like way too much for just this one incident, but it makes a lot more sense when you learn that this guy has been fined repeatedly and the message isn't getting through.

I also hate it when Allen lines up under center and fakes that he's going to run a play, just to see if he can trick the defense into jumping offside. Also, we should decline DPI calls because if our receivers can't pull the ball down on their own it would be unsportsmanlike to take a handout from the refs.

All I want is for the NFL to kindly take my money and sell me their product. The NFL is incredibly reluctant to take this deal.

I hope all the people here, on Twitter, and in the Buffalo media who ran this guy out of town are happy now.

Yeah this is sort of crazy. If they win against us, they will win the division no matter what.
This is what happens when you piss away games to teams like Denver, New England, and the Jets.

I've done the same math as everybody else, but I'm going to hold off on this until we see how our game against Dallas goes. If we win this weekend, the division is a very real possibility.

Yes, I too am worried about having an above-average TE return to the active roster. It's kind of disaster when you stop and think about it.

We need a true number 2 wide receiver (assuming Diggs stays), another offensive lineman (or two), a RB in the line of Murray, but with youth.
On the defensive side we need someone to replace DeQuan Jones (assuming he goes elsewhere). Don't know how Milano is going to recover, so we should consider his replacement.No. The offensive line is playing very well -- we can always use more OLs, but our starters are fine. We do not need another RB. I don't see any issues at LB.
Okay, we could probably use another WR. You got that one right.

So you rather raping a child over hitting an adult woman. I think they are both wrong but feel that the rape is way worse.
Matt Araiza didn't rape anybody. If you read the police complaint, he wasn't even accused of raping anybody -- the accuser was very careful to make sure to say that she couldn't recall whether Araiza actually participated in the gang rape or not. You've been misinformed by people in the media.
Edit: Also, a 17 year-old isn't really a "child" for the purposes of this discussion. She's a sexually-mature adult who can legally consent to sex in most US states and most of our peer countries. I'm guessing most of us were sexually active when we were 17, and we know that's normal.

Man, I completely disagree with most in this thread. The SF player threw a punch at an Eagles official. The fact that the punch didn't land is irrelevant. They were right to disqualify him.
-
I'm leaning very strongly toward "this guy needs to be gone." I take accusations against pro athletes with a heavy grain of salt, but if it was enough to lead to an arrest warrant, that's enough smoke for me. I'm open to counter-arguments, but I'm fine if the Bills cut Miller and move on. What a disappointment.
Also, they should bring back Matt Araiza, who was genuinely mistreated by this organization, its media, and its fanbase.

I don't think this team is good enough to go 5-0 the rest of the way, especially not with games against the Chiefs and Cowboys on the schedule.
Sorry. This year's team just hasn't shown that they're particularly good.

Honestly, as frustrating as it is, what impact did it ultimately have? We had plenty of chances to win the game in the 4th and couldn’t do it.
Would I love to see they trust one of the best Qbs in the nfl? Of course. But if they turn the ball over and gift the Eagles points, fans are killing him for that. I hate it but that is way bottom of the list of things that went wrong that game.
Well, we ended up losing the game. Worst case scenario is Josh gets pick-sixed and we lose in regulation -- same result. If we're playing the "what impact did it ultimately have?" hindsight game, there was literally no downside to putting the ball in the air there. We had a chance to win a game that we would go on to lose.

I would be happy with OC Frank Reich.
I would not be happy with HC Frank Reich.

Beane is average imo. He’s had his misses but so has every other GM in the league. I refuse to be upset with him for the Von signing because almost everyone was on board with it when it happened. It was said if the Bills win a Super Bowl it would be worth it. Where I do blame him is for players like Elam, Poyer/Hyde, Basham, free agent signings, and a lack of a quality second receiver. The team has needed a reliable second receiver for the last couple of years and hasn’t gotten one. With what Sherfield and Harty have provided they should have kept McKenzie who would have been cheaper and better for the morale on offense. While Elam was a miss Benford was a great find. Since they were in the same draft I consider it a wash with Benford being a late round pick.
Poyer and Hyde were great signings. You're evaluating them today at the very end of their careers, but when they were signed they were exactly the sort of undervalued assets that you want your GM to uncover.

I hated the decision to kneel it out. For all we knew, we weren't going to see the ball again. We wouldn't have seen the ball again if we had lost the coin toss.
I'm ready for a coaching change.
13 hours ago, Bill Grundy said:Because of the risk of interception and field position.
20 seconds isn't a thing. It's hysterical to make it one.
And if it is intercepted then this thread has a different title and the coach is called a moron.
This is exactly what people mean when they say "playing not to lose."
(My apologies if a bunch of other people have pointed this out already -- I'm not reading this whole thread.)

Honestly, no.
I love the guy, and I'm extremely grateful for what he's done for this franchise. But as an outsider looking in, it definitely seems like he's lost the locker room. Maybe I'm wrong about that, but he runs such an opaque organization that I no longer feel bad about reading tea leaves and drawing inferences based on what we see in public. And besides "missing the playoffs with a healthy Josh Allen" was always a bright red line for me that would indicate something having gone very wrong with this team.
We're going to have a new OC next year, and probably a new ST guy. Ownership should insist that we bring in a proper DC. If we're going to have an all-new group of coordinators, why not start over with a new HC too? We know the roster needs a bit of mini-rebuild. Now's the time to make a change.

This game wasn't a gut punch at all. The season essentially ended several weeks ago in London -- it's just that people were reluctant to admit it. And if you go back further, I am very firmly convinced that something happened with this team during the second half of the season last year that caused the locker room to drift away. This team has been very clearly underperforming for about a full calendar year now.
I'm coming around to the idea that we need to make a change at HC. This team needs a new attitude.

I'm not ready to jump on the "Fire McDermott" train quite yet, but I'm going to be very interested in seeing how the rest of the season goes.
At this point, I would insist on a new OC and new DC. Those are both non-negotiable IMO. I would not be opposed to a change at HC if that's what Pegula decides to do. We know we're going to have some roster turnover this year, especially in the secondary, so it's not a totally inopportune time to make some coaching changes.
