I'm happy with Beane. We loaded up to contend for a SB, and now it's time for the inevitable reset year. This is a "down" year, and we'll probably still win the division anyway. We'll be in better shape next year, and this team is set up for long-term success. We just need a better HC.

You need talent outside the QB position. It's great to have a HOFer at QB, but you need dudes who catch passes that hit them in the hands.

For those calling for McDermott to be fired, there’s a better chance of Bryce Young winning a Super Bowl this year as a starting QB.
This is a sensational dunk. Well done.
McDermott cost us a super bowl.

It's time to move on from this coaching staff. (End of season, not literally now of course).

This is a down year for the Bills, and they're still probably going to win the division, admittedly by default. I expect to be able to beat whoever we draw in the wild card round. I have no expectations beyond that, but stranger things have happened.
I was here for the drought. All of it. If this is what a reset year looks like, I am a happy man.

Lol people putting Herbert on Mahomes/Josh level. Not even close.
Yeah, Herbert never really developed like we expected. He's pretty good, but nothing like either of those guys.

The Chiefs have a good punter. Why can't the Bills find a guy like that?

I could see this team winning the super bowl, and I could also see it missing the playoffs.
I think missing the playoffs is quite a bit more likely than winning a championship.
-
The Bills don't have any problems scoring. Maybe we could be more efficient at the goal line, but that hasn't really mattered.
We need for our defense to stop collapsing in the playoffs. The defense is why we have been getting bounced every year. We have invested a metric *****-ton of resources in the DL, and it can never generate pressure when we need it. That's on McDermott and Beane.

Yeah, if there's one place where Allen sucks, it's when he has to improvise and throw off-platform.
Dumbass.

Saw this on X and figured it was a joke. But nope. We're beyond parody at this point.

Good for him. A bunch of people on this board should be embarrassed at their own rush to judgement.

I'm really disappointed that this guy never worked out for us. He seemed to have a bright future there for a brief moment in time.
Regardless, I wish him well in Jacksonville.

I mean... good for both of you, I guess?
Whether you were someone who did or didn't though - it doesn't change the fact that we couldn't use two roster spots on Punters for two years and deal with the media distraction all the while. Everyone on this board and fanbase could have said nothing at all, it wouldn't have mattered.
The result would have been the same, any way you slice it, with any team that drafted him.
People like you are the reason why there was a media distraction. Nobody was willing to apply the slightest amount of critical scrutiny to a story that was shady af from the very beginning.

You can sit on your high horse in hindsight and judge everyone around here.
Thanks -- will do. A whole bunch of people on this forum fell for a fraud, and people like me were telling them that at the time. I'm sure that thread still exists somewhere.

Tried to do this from memory. If it was consensual, what theory was her attorney pushing? Was she drunk? In any event, a 22 year old having sex with a 17 year old isn’t a great look. I’ll repeat. No way the Bills were going to do anything other than cut him after the allegations came out.
"Not a good look" is never a reason to get the pitchforks out. Come on now.

There was ZERO chance Bills were doing anything other than cutting him once the allegations were made. Remember the allegations? Having non consensual sex with a minor?
Remember the Bills were consensus favorites to win the Super Bowl going into that year. There was again zero chance of keeping him on the roster and have the daily distractions stemming from having an accused rapist on the team.
Was it fair? Of course not. Is it insane that he signed with our arch rival? Of course it is. But it’s the Bills. Another brick in the wall.
Araiza had a consensual sex with a 17 year old. That would have been perfectly legal in NY and many other US states. It was technically illegal in CA, but of course he wasn't charged with anything in relation to that because nobody prosecutes stuff like that.

Nice job, guys. I hope the folks here and in the Buffalo media are happy now.

The Bills should have forfeited the Damar Hamlin game, and much of the drama surrounding that situation was self-inflicted and counter-productive.

I hope it works out, but our OC and DC hires both reek of "more of the same." I'm not convinced that that's the answer.

Nothing against Brady, but these internal promotions are not healthy.

I wonder if other fanbases have to deal with stuff like this, or it's just a Josh Allen thing.
I mean, obviously it was fine to target the guy breaking open in the end zone. Allen makes that throw 9 out of 10 times if Dawkins holds his block just slightly better. People who complain about this are demonstrating either (a) very low football IQ or (b) a willingness to say stupid stuff just to get engagement.

The old format with 6 teams was better. Teams like the 2023 Steelers shouldn't be in the playoffs, and the regular season is more enjoyable when the stakes of each game are higher.
Obviously the NFL would add an 8th team before it switched back to the old format, and I would also prefer that over the current awkward system.

There’s always been two ways to view today’s Bills. Group No. 1 views this as a team with a balled-up fist banging on that Super Bowl door, bound to knock it down. This is how the organization is sold at press conferences. Group No. 2 sees a window closing. Group No. 2 knows the quarterback cannot ***** souls forever and — correctly — wants to see coaching and management that maximizes Josh Allen while he’s Josh Allen.
Dunne is 100% right about this, a bunch of people in this thread have their heads buried in the sand.
Maybe the best approach at this point is to stick with McDermott and hope that we luck into a super bowl. It's possible. If we make the playoffs every year, there's a decent chance that the ball will eventually bounce our way a few games in a row. That's not a totally unreasonable strategy. But Dunne is right that we're being coached by Marty Schottenheimer, which would be a-okay if Tyrod Taylor was under center, but it feels kind of criminal when we have a HOFer in his prime.

No, but I agree with you that we should have been thinking TD at the end instead of FG. I would have liked it if they had treated that last set of downs as four-down territory (unless something went wrong and set us up for 4th-and-too-long of course).

Not the best throw, but an NFL receiver absolutely must make that catch.
