Josh Allen is the best weapon in the NFL and he’s not protected.
Nihilarian replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall
Sadly, this might be the year the Bills do take a step backward. The offensive line is a concern...all those penalties in the first half...meaning that the first string was being dominated. The defense looked old and slow and if they can't stop the run or pass in the middle... I can recall the year the NY Giants won the SB. That they went up to Seattle and were manhandled as their QB was sacked 7x and had 4 turnovers in a loss. Stuff happens. The Steelers were looking at a well-known playoff team coming into their stadium and normally teams don't prepare much for opponents in the pre-season. They might have been extra hyped up playing Buffalo in knowing that their starters will play. OTOH, didn't the Bills beat Pittsburgh in Buffalo last season 38-3? We will see. -
I stand corrected! Dunno why I first thought it was Klecko. Can't refute an actual video. Ole Ben did get it wrong stating it was #99. If he is in, why not Gastineau? NY sack exchange. Anyway, still don't believe a guy like him is now in the HoF when Bills fans have an innovative player who literally changed the game and is not in the hall. The Man was also MVP of the pro bowl and still gets overlooked.
-
Oops, well just looked it up and we were both wrong as it was #99, Mark Gastineau. Who remembers Ben Dreith's "Giving him the business" call (narkive.com)
-
I don't get how this player made it into the HoF over Steve Tasker. Although a 4-time Pro Bowl, 2 of those seasons were all pro, and an 11-year career. 78 sacks If I recall correctly the only notable thing I remember about the guy was ref Ben Dreith throwing a flag for a personal foul on Klecko for "giving him the business down there" after he tackled Kelly. The Jets lost a lot of games to the Buffalo Bills during his time in the NFL and I get why he wanted to take it out on a QB that was always beating up his team.

Crazy good stuff!

Josh Allen goes #1 overall to the Browns in a 2018 Redraft
Nihilarian replied to StHustle's topic in The Stadium Wall
I also think that Allen would have made any team competitive as the kid has a work ethic like no other. I would have cried hard had the Browns drafted him... and someone would have had to coax me off the ledge had the stinky Jets grabbed him. -

Dunno if anyone else recalls but there was talk of the Browns drafting Allen with that #1 just before the draft. At some point, someone *cough-cough* released some offensive tweets by Josh Allen hours before the draft..and he fell to the #7 spot! Those tweets were before he enrolled at Wyoming, so he was very young. Thank the good lord that the Browns are the Browns and the Jets are the Jets...Mayfield, Darnold. Where are they now? BTW, good thing Beane traded up to #7 because Arizona was working to draft Allen too. -
He wasn't wrong! Hacker took a pro-bowl-SB QB and made him look like a bum. Hope he does the same thing for Aaron Rodgers...although he said Rodgers will call his own plays. Hacker didn't call plays in GB... he is just a nice guy and what happens to those? Clearly brought in to lure Rodgers to the NY Jests. EDIT: Oh, BTW, let's not forget that the man who hired him in the first place to be an NFL OC ended up firing him in Jacksonville. Saint Doug canned him. He stunk it up in developing Blake Bortles. They made the playoffs one year because of a stout run game and #2 overall defense.

Awesome stuff, great to hear!

Just think, it could have been that kid with the Chargers. The Miami owner is also a fault. Anyway, this AFC East is going to be a much much tougher division to win. The Jets are now loaded and if they sign Dalvin Cook along with RB Breece Hall, good lord. The Dolphins are better as they hired a new DC. This new guy might not run that same lame defensive scheme with the wrong players. Miami has some scary speed. The Patriots now have their old OC, you know the one that was a HC and who isn't a DC. This guy knows how to run an NFL offense. Buffalo has their work cut out for them and in particular should these teams decide that since their QBs are not "elite", they should run the ball more, a lot more. The Buffalo defense is more built for stopping the pass. They have shown a weakness in stopping the run and if you look back to that Cincy playoff game...my take is teams will look at that game and attempt to copy what Cincinnati did to beat the Bills on both offense and defense. Here is hoping that the Bills keep stomping their AFC rivals!

This kinda scares me as my take it was mostly Kim who wanted to buy the Buffalo Bills. I also think she was the one who helped forge the FO and Coaching staff. Regardless, we all see what Terry has done with the Sabres so far...So yea, hands off pls.

Hopkins released by Arizona (7/16: signed by Titans)

No question in my view. Jim Kelly and Co have 4 AFC Championship rings...alas no SB ring. It's what some NFL players all play for...I'd bet Josh Allen would play for free -

When you look at the KC Chiefs vs Buffalo they have a super top OC / HC that is at a genius level. Their offensive line didn't allow a single sack against that Eagle defense. Does anyone else recall what they did to the Buffalo O line when they last met? That Eagle defense was way better this season. I don't see the KC WR corps as better than the Buffalo Bills at all. It's that damned TE Travis Kelce that makes that offense so potent. So, QB vs QB..even OC vs OC Chiefs by 1000 miles. Chiefs O line vs O line, perhaps the Bill caught up a bit this offseason...maybe. Chiefs WR Corps vs WR corps... Buffalo can ya DIGGS it! Bills TE vs TE...Chiefs...for now. Dalton Kincade? Chiefs. Still, Buffalo has beaten the Chiefs in the past two regular seasons during the season. We will very soon see what the Buffalo offense will look like in 2023. -

Sometimes things happen for a reason... This reminds me of Antonio Brown or JJ Watt. He chose money over a real shot at a ring. We will see. -

Good points! Not only all that.,..this franchise hasn't had a QB like Josh Allen in forever. I suspect this season's offense will be even better than past offenses. -

Cooper Kupp Suggested As Major Bills’ Trade Target (msn.com) As much as I like Stephon Diggs in what he has done as a Buffalo Bill. I can't get over the fact that he has a tantrum on the sidelines yelling at his QB during a big game. The guy had more targets than any other receiver (10 catches, 4 receptions for 35 yards) which is pretty pathetic. Allen was under heavy pressure all game and the only receiver who looked to do anything with the ball was Dawson Knox (7 targets, 5 receptions for 65 yards) Nobody played well that game. Yea, I get that the guy is competitive and wants to win...as does every player on that team! No need for all this high drama at all. I also get that Diggs is a special receiver. But then, the league has a bunch of players as good who don't let their emotions get the better of them. The Rams might want to unload Cooper Kupp, as others have mentioned Mike Evans, D Hop. I'm still hoping that D-Hop gives in to his desire to win an SB and signs with Buffalo. Anyway, these other young, new players deserve a chance to show what they can do with a QB like Josh Allen throwing to them. I have faith that the Buffalo offense will be fine with the passing offense this season. -

D-Hop wants what OBJ got in 15 mill per. Doubt that will happen with Buffalo...as much as I'd like to see it. This thing with Diggs still kinda bugs me as he saw the most passes against the Bengals and didn't do all that much with them. Then went off on JA. The guy isn't smart enough to get that Allen is doing his best. Mike Evans, Cooper Kupp...find a way -
HC for 6 seasons and 5 of those 6 in the playoffs with the last 3 as AFC East division winners. Arguably the best HC, GM tandem in the history of the Buffalo Bills After that Bengals playoff loss, so many Buffalo fans posting here are like little children that want their Maypo NOW...NOW, GDI NOW! Look at the very best head coach in the league right now is Kansas City Chiefs Andy Reid. For 14 years he was the Eagles HC and only went to the SB once and didn't win it in all that time. He did get the Eagles there in his sixth season. Reid has been the HC of the Chiefs for 10 years and he has yet to have a losing season. His team has been in the SB 3 of the last 4 years and won 2 of them. Amazing! This is the team that Buffalo must contend with to get to a super bowl. The Bills have beaten the Chiefs 2x now in the regular season so they have proven that they have what it takes. Just a matter of time. Good deal that Beane and McDermott were shown by the owners that they are not going anywhere! Makes me happy!

The Bills fans bleating became almost biblical after that Cincy loss... Fire EVERYONE! Fire Beane, Fire McD, Fire Frazier, Fire Dorsey! Buffalo fans believed all the pre-season hype about the Bills winning the SB. Guess what! Cincinnati and 14 other AFC teams didn't make it either. It was a truly crap way to end the season with a loss at home in the snow...alas, everything just caught up with the team on the wrong day. Get over it... and start thinking about the 2023 season. Lots of good changes and hope the injury bug hits other teams like it has in previous seasons. Do you happen to drive a BMW?

What I believe is this all boils down to what happened in that Cincinnati playoff loss with Diggs. The man did have 10 targets, which was 3 more than Knox and 2 more than Singletary. Allen went 25 of 42 for 264 yards, 0, 1 INT. Sacked only once but was under pressure all game...running for his life! Almost as much pressure as the Dolphins put on Allen the week previous only with far less blitzing. Knox went 5 of 7 for 65 yards. (Should have seen more targets!) Singletary went 5 of 8 for 37 yards. Diggs went 4 of 10 targets for 35 yards. (Now, those are some piss poor numbers!) Davis went 2 of 4 for 34 yards. Beasley went 3 of 4 for 33 yards. Lil Dirty went 2 of 2 for 10 yards. Shakir went 2 of 2 for 40 yards. Morris went 1 of 2 for 6 yards. Hines went 1 of 1 for 4 yards. James Cook saw no passes. ToP 33:54 vs 26:06 Bills My thoughts are the Bengals had the Buffalo offense scouted perfectly and played them extremely well in shutting down that vaunted Bills passing offense. The game was honestly lost in the trenches on both sides of the ball. The Bengals seemed to run well...34 rushes, 172 yards, 1 TD. Mixon had 20 carries for 105 yards, 1 TD. Bills fans were not used to seeing the Buffalo Bills losing like that in the snow and cold. Was it a bad game plan on both sides of the ball? I can only hope that the Buffalo coaches fix this... sh**... because the entire NFL world watched that game and will attempt to copy what Cincinnati did in that game.

Help me understand the Ken Dorsey hate
Nihilarian replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
Dunno anything about the "hate" for the guy as he was an NFL rookie OC. Stats wise the Buffalo offense was #2 overall in points, and yards which equal the best season Brian Daboll had as the Buffalo OC. Clearly, the Buffalo offensive line took a big step back in 2022. In that Miami playoff game, the Phin's strategy was to put heavy pressure on QB Josh Allen all day and it worked to a degree. The Bengals were also able to get in Allen's face quite a bit in that playoff game and as a result of that playoff loss at home in Buffalo, so many Bills fans were breaking out the pitchforks. The Buffalo Bill's offense and the passing game went out the window on that snowy January 22 playoff day. The Bengals were able to run the ball all day with 34 rushes for 172 yards, 1 TD. Buffalo on the other hand went 19 rushes for 64 yards. When the passing game falters the team needs to be able to run the ball effectively. That playoff game basically showed why the Bills needed better run defense and a better-rushing offense. That's exactly what made those 90's Bills so special in the snow and cold with Thurman Thomas running it. Anyway, https://www.cover1.net/buffalo-bills-offense-josh-allen-what-went-wrong/ "*The Bills’ offense lacked middle-of-the-field production in the passing game in 2022, which affected the team’s performance. *Josh Allen had a tendency to avoid throwing over the middle of the field due to a lack of trust in his weapons. *The lack of consistency in the slot receiver position affected the Bills’ ability to open up avenues for the rest of the offense. *Data from interceptions and drops shows that Josh Allen was much more comfortable throwing to the boundaries rather than over the middle of the field. *We analyze heat maps of Stefon Diggs’ production to show the change in the Bills’ passing game in the latter half of the season, as they began to throw more toward the numbers and boundaries. *Consistent slot receivers, like Cole Beasley, provide a “crutch” for the offense and allow for hot routes and site adjustments in the middle of the field, which are crucial for making plays."
