  1. I think you are on to something here as one of my thoughts (hopes) re: 2015 Bills O is that though we have clear failing in terms of having a great OL that I might be that if Roman develops a good running game it on the face of it creates a big challenge for the opposing D. Opponents will have an initial choice to make whether they are going to cheat against the run by 7 or 8 defenders in the box (even a talent like McCoy gets stymied by this D particularly if our OL is average or worse). However, this commitment to stopping the run likely gives either Watkins or Harvin single coverage. A mere stop and go and an easy read by EJ of which way is the safety cheating gives us a quick TD. On the other hand, if the opposing D doubles either WR (or both) McCoy simply has to beat the first tackler and he is running with a head of steam in the second level. Now add to this quandary, EJ after making his initial read has an O which can: 1. Have Edwards do his precise route running if the D goes zone against our 3 WR set 2. The versatile Clay either focuses on blocking if our 1st option on a play is a McCoy run, or we go play action and Clay after a chip block slips into the pass pattern, or 3. EJ 's main job is to look for space and give Harvin/Watkins time to lose their coverage and Manual simply read-options his way to either run for a first or throw to the open receiver. Overall, I am not worried about our OL as EJ escapability he has shown in essence gives us an extra blocker.
  2. Ultimately the buck stops with the person in charge and I have long felt the key responsibity for the 0-15 pllayoff free run was though I hate to say negative things about the relatively recent death, all our losing teams shared one thing in common and that was a series of poor footballl decisions made by Mr. Ralph. He deserves great kudos for placing andd keeping the team here in Buffalo, but the simple fact is that though it is to early to declare the Pegulas great, he clearly is an upgrade at owner.
  3. Ironically, I think the departures of both Marrone and Orton appear to me to have both been additions by subtraction of both men. Merron now gives all the appearance of having been a legend in his own mind. In the end he showed no loyalty to hs team or the players and I think we are clearly better off without him. Likewise Orton, He fooled everyone from Merrone to his teanmmates and his decision to retire obviously made long ago left me feeling, don't the door hit you on the way out.
  4. I doubt it will be rescinded as the big NFL rule is simply DO WHAT TH MONEY TELLS YOU TO DO. The $ from ticket buyers is a significant chunk of $ but is simply chump change compared to the $ sucked from the NFL's real market which are the eyeballs. Teams are actually looking to build smaller attendance stadiums with 45-55,000 fans essentially being actors so the NFL can make billions of $ selling the games as entertainment products to the TV networks is where the real $ live. With the death of the old guard owners like Ralph to the modern NFL the trend we will see is not one to lessening TV coverage but will be one to lessen the importance of game day fans as mostly a prop for storytelling sales.
  5. Continuity helps a lot. Not only was the starting 4 of our virtually Pro Bowl across the DL resigned, You have to go 5 deep at CB before the QB can survive the risk of picking on Brooks as both Graham and Robey have made QBs pay for focusing on them. LB is the spot where personnel ? raise concerns. but the rekindled ability to play a 3-4 and drop Williams to OLB and revive Lawson likely solves this problem. Opposing teams MIGHT by the end of the season prove it on the field they are better than the Bills, but until further notice from reality this is the top D on the field.
  6. Why has it taken 3 pages to say nope?
  7. Again, what folks do not seem to understand is that in order to be a cancer you have to worm your way into folks hearts and thinking by having a great year with the team. Folks were opposed to Terrell Owens as a Bill predicting he would immediately become a cancer and hurt the team. He did not because he was here on a 1 year contract and like Harvin he will be on at worse good behavior and potentially production on the field for at least a year. The worry about whether he is or will be a cancer is a worry about whether he will be a cancer or not. Rex has the advantage that he knows exactly what to look for in terms of managing Harvin. If he shows sign of being a cancer then cut him, bench him or simply diminish his role so he can never get the traction to earn loyalty from fans and/or teammates. Right now and for at least half a year Harvin is simply a threat to opponents which makes Watkins/Edwards more effective. As far as it goes, I'd love to have the problem that Harvin is so great on the field we then have to actually deal wth a real cancer danger.
