  1. I think he has a chance, like a 5-10% chance of being a solid NFL career. But 5-10% is probably bigger than a ton of late round draft picks in the last 20 years. Many of them have virtually no chance. He has all the tools. Most QBs drafted after the 3-4 don't.

The only way, however, imo it makes sense for the Bills is if he is undrafted. Which seems unlikely. We don't have a 7th. Maybe we take him with the 6th. But then we would have to say goodbye to Cardale in order to keep him, unless Cardale plays great in camp and preseason, Yates tanks, and Chad looks good in very limited reps and action. If he is drafted in the 5th round, and then cut, chances are some team will sign him as a 3. Not guaranteed at all but as a long shot development #3 he's probably as good a chance as a lot of others.

So, IMO, it would not be smart for the Bills to draft him unless they really like him. If no one drafts him then we can sign him as a UDFA and there is a decent chance he can be signed to PS.

Draft him and stash him on IR, then you don't have to cut Cardale until Kelly beats him out the following year.

  2. Really glad they got this one over the line. Spoke to Dion a few times since the Senior Bowl and I've been selling the Bills to him like a man possessed. Talking **** about Jordan Mills is my favourite pasttime anyway :D

One of my favourite players in the class and a ton of teams did want to kick him inside. Dude will be starting at RT before Week 17, I guarantee it. Fantastic pick.

Athletically, he's strong in key areas. Elite level 3-cone, above-average broad and 40 - https://www.mockdraftable.com/player/dion-dawkins?position=OT

Yea but he doesn't know the difference between a head stand and a handstand!! Kick him into guard!

  3. I like this pick.

I also like that this is the first sign that we don't mind doing some homework and picking a player that may have had some "character issues." For those that don't know, Dion had an incident at a night club in 2015. Those things happen when you're a young guy.

I was worried that we needed our prospects to be perfect off the field. Glad to know that some sort of incident doesn't stop us from considerig a player.

  4.

No. I don't think they want to be bad, I just don't think they're going to be very good.

We have no depth. When we lose 5-6 starters like we do every year, we're going to have 5-6 gaping holes on the field.

I don't think we are going to be very good next year. But based on this draft, I think McD is drafting to compete right now. His CB and WR were very productive and experienced seniors. The OL was also a senior.

I would have used this year to rebuild, I don't think that is McD's plan. I'm not a huge fan of our strategy but it'll certainly be interesting to see the product this year.

  5. I'm glad to hear that. I mean, it's basically a free pick.

He can sit behind Taylor. Eventually maybe finish what his uncle started.

    He's definitely talented.

Def. he needs a year to let his body recover. Red shirt him this year behind Tyrod.

I think he is the best QB of the past two years. It would make this currently ok draft very hopeful for me.

  6. fair enough. i don't know woods's college production, but i can imagine it matches jones. i know it's not an even comparison, but i also don't completely understand why people are insisting on comparing him with woods. is it size, or just because he's filling that position?

I think it's just bc we are replacing what we lost in FA.

I fancy myself a draft fanatic so I'm disappointed we didn't grab some other players at 44 and 91. I also think we are going to lose a lot this year.

With the players we are drafting - very experienced, polished players (Jones is a great route runner) - I think Mc Dermitt is ready to win this year. So they're approaching the draft much different than I and a lot of fans would.

  7. as i mentioned, i really haven't seen him play live, but how is woods better overall? it's not like his production here was stellar, (and i understand that the qbs were a huge part of that). we likely don't know exactly who woods even is at this point in terms of a true wr.

I don't particularly think Woods was great but he was a pretty complete WR. Could run good routes to get separation, not an amazing athlete, a good and dedicated blocker (we will like how Jones blocks). That is exactly Jones' game. I think Woods is a little faster and a little more slippery and a little better blocker. Jones is a great hands catcher ala Colston.

I'm disappointed cuz I thought we could get a WR2 later and that's all Zay will be imo. I'm guessing Dennison is going to want to throw more than we did last year.

  8. ok, so you don't know. i'm not saying i'm an expert at all, but i think it's pretty obvious that you're just reading snippets of draft reports, and are attempting to act like you know something.

explain...why is he a woods clone like you stated?

Unfortunately he is not a Woods clone. Woods is better overall, Jones has better hands. Jones is more like a smaller Marques Colston.

  9. The Bills draft, and offseason, don't appear to make much sense.

Lose Gilmore - draft White in the 1st round

Lose Woods - draft Jones in the 2nd round

    We're just spinning our tires.

I like White and it saves us money while we start our rebuild.

Jones is not a second round talent player, so disappointed about that. They're definitely interested in immediate contributors with two experienced and refined seniors. Problem with Jones is he is just a possession receiver.
