  1. Hopefully cogs shows some luv for bills taking s flyer on him and re-signs at favorable salary. Mario is gone and I understand that creates a lot of cap space. In FA I think TE and RT (and maybe WR) have potential , other needs on my OP list I see as more draft related. Hopefully some good LBs are available.

Jaylon Smith or myles jack...I think one of those LBs should be there when we draft Rd1. Although with the success of mack defying the "dont draft an LB high" wisdom (which I never subscribed to), you never know. But even if we don't snag one of them, overall at first glance it seems like a deep LB class

I believe that will be the situation with Cog's; last year Todd Herremans and Evan Mathis both age comps got 1 yr/3.25/3.5 deals, I dont see Cog's breaking the bank elsewhere or leaving, he's in a favorable place for him. Both fill the #1 need right now IMO.

I am 100% on board with Smith or Jack with the 1st pick, I dont think Smith will be there but Jack's injury might drop him into our range, both are the exact 3 down LB's the Bills need.

LB is the #1 priority for me regarding the Bills right now.

  2. It might be the right approach. But I could also see it blowing up in our faces.

Put yourself in Tyrod's shoes for a minute. You think you did pretty well considering it's your first year as a starter. So you expect the Bills to show some belief in you. Instead they leave you dangling with your piddly contract.

So that burns you. Then the Bills bring in Kaep or draft a QB round one and make you win your job again.

So now if you are Tyrod, you start feeling that the Bills don't really believe in you. At the same time his agent starts getting feelers from other teams. Maybe the Ravens want him back to replace Flacco?

So Tyrod goes into the season a pending free agent. In his heart he's playing for his next deal, wherever it is.

Tyrod plays well enough to get the Bills to the playoffs. Now Whaley says let's talk deal. But Tyrod says he wants to test his value on the open market. After all how often does a legit starter go into free agency?

So the Bills are now one of five teams vying for him. He decides he'd rather play for his old coach in a city closer to his home, even though the Bills are offering stupid money now to keep him.

Bills are back in QB purgatory. Tell me this couldn't happen?

Taylor's contract with the 3rd year being voidable showed he and his agent understand what opportunity he was being and the long term implications. So far for him so good, he's betting on himself and has one more season after this to prove himself, then he gets paid. The terms of the contract IMO show all sides have a clear understanding of the stakes involved, I dont see hard feelings being developed, this was his opportunity to start, these were the terms, he understands, and like Flacco, his payday will come. He knew the deal going into this.

Many things could happen, but regardless Buffalo controls his rights for the next 2 years (current contract + Franchise Tag) if they want to regardless and has an owner that will pay up when it is called for (Dareus the $100 Million Nose Guard  ).

One thing is for sure: If Tyrod's bet pays off, after 2016 he's going to be a wealthy starter in 2017 and he knows it.

  3. Personally I have no issue with what Shady said and I watched the whole interview. He is (and has always been) a pretty candid and intelligent guy. He does not like Kelly, doesn't back off from what he said and doesn't want to be fake about it. He pretty much said that there is no reason to exchange pleasantries because we don't have a relationship like that.

I am sure that you have all moved on to new jobs and when you go back to your old place of work you are happier to see some than others. You have different levels of relationships with former co-workers, bosses, etc...

I have become a BIG fan of Shady. I always knew that he was good but had no idea how good until watching this year. He plays smart, hard, hurt and can play 3 downs. He is the EXACT type of guy that you want on your team. We are very, very fortunate to have him.

I was not a big fan of the comments McCoy made in regard to Chip when he was traded and thought they were off base, but made in the heat of the moment, he's a Eastern PA guy and was living the dream and that was ripped away from him and he found out 2nd hand. Who wouldnt be upset?

This interview I thought was pure McCoy and I agree with him; It is what it is, no love lost. He's emotional, and moving on, but has not forgotten what happened. Could McCoy have handled it a little better, sure.

The trade was not handled well or professionally by Kelly and the Eagles in how it was leaked, and Kelly knows that, Im sure he would do it differently if given a chance, and called McCoy immediately.

As a Buffalo Bill, McCoy has been great on the field and a team guy all the way, on and off the field. I agree the Bills are lucky to have him and he has quickly become a personal favorite of mine.

As far as Herm goes, sounds like he didn't add any context to the interview or take the time to listen to what was actually being said. Certainly comes across ignorant of this in his rant. McCoy's comments had nothing to do with the Bills team nor was he being selfish, or being unprofessional. Herm was frustrated about the lack of professionalism in general around the league and went off inappropriately using McCoy's interview as part of the tipping point in his rant.

  4. Whaley ran his HC interviews by talking to coaches about reclaiming EJM.

    See above.

He talked about focusing on developing EJ, which should have been the focus in the first place, clearly a topic of discussion but clearly not how the interview was run in of itself.

The narrative regarding Whaley wanting EJ to be the QB at all costs is a false premise, and completely unsubstantiated.

As is the narrative that EJ was "Whaley's" guy alone from the get go.

  5. i think Decker is overrated as a prospect. I don't think he is a bad player at all... He's been very well-coached and has good technique. Doesn't hold or get stupid penalties. But he is far from a dominant player. He gets beat way more than he should for as much hype as he gets. He does seem to rise to the level of competition and play his best in big games - maybe a culture issue on the team as a whole. I don't like seeing a guy who is supposed to be a 1st rd pick give up 3 sacks vs freaking Minnesota.

That said, I think he's worlds better than his predecessor at LT Jack Mewhort, who went in the second round.

Thank you, I appreciate that. I would tend to agree he and Conklin are over rated at this point, and find it hard to believe many have them as top 10-20 type prospects, or even LT prospects. I have not watched a lot of him, but I think your assessment is spot on from what I have seen over the last two years. I have the Minnesota game on my list to watch and will move it up now.

Interesting, I had Mewhort as an 3rd round guy and have Decker as a 2nd currently, good stuff ;).

  6. I know Decker as a person and he will knock the interviews out of the park. He's as squeaky clean as it gets, smart, charisma, etc. That might help him. For Conklin, the fact he has been in the pro style offense could help him.

Everything I have read on him points that way, nice to hear the same coming from a direct contact. It would help his cause for me, and history says maybe Whaley too. I agree about Conklin, and conversely Spriggs coming from the spread and not having the strength of Decker or Conklin will hurt him a little, but the NFL loves athleticism...

What are your objective thoughts on Decker as a prospect?

  7. i saw a lot of those three tackles and IMO the first two might be able to start right away at RT (though I don't really love either one) but Spriggs is a developmental guy at NFL OT. He would not be ready to start next year. Jmo.

From what I have seen of them I would agree, but would add that Spriggs IMO has the higher ceiling as he is more athletic (swing T, with LT potential) and has better lateral movement skills, but lacks physicality and strength right now, I dont see him fitting into power schemes early in his career, but pulling and zone blocking IMO he is the best of the 3. Day 1 starter? In the right scheme... Reminds me of Lane Johnson, but I'll buy developmental.

Conklin has the power and reminds me a little of Bulaga, but his balance and lateral skills are not LT material and need to be addressed, but he IMO is by far the strongest and most powerful of the 3. I think he's a day 1 starter at RT as he is.

Decker IMO is a mixture of Spriggs and Conklin, more athletic than Conklin, but not as much as Spriggs, more powerful than Spriggs, but not as much as Conklin. He plays high, despite being capable of bending in pass pro, I could see him being a day 1 guy.

IMO none of them are 1st round worthy RT's.

  8. Gotta get both done. Adding another T, hopefully our first rounder, is the way to go.

I agree on resigning Glenn and Incognito.

A RT in the first would be a waste IMO, hopefully Myles Jack or Jaylon Smith would be available at LB when we pick, much better value and both would greatly enhance the defense and team as a whole, 3 down playmaking linebackers who can do it all. Then look at a Decker, Spriggs or Conklin in the 2nd round as a RT.

  9.

Aaron Williams being out is one thing. The woeful replacements behind him: THAT'S why we're struggling. He was a solid player. His reserves are downright liabilities.

Duke Williams has played himself right the !@#$ off this roster. Corey Graham is not good enough to account for the deficiencies opposite him. And Rambo is entirely too up and and down. These are facts.

Again, I'm not saying Rex has been perfect. Far from it.

But this notion that he's problem numero uno? Absolutely not.

I posted this on another site last year; when Aaron Williams played with Duke Williams last year, Duke was effective on the field.

It was clear as a sunny day on the 22 when watching Duke look at Aaron, Aaron tell him what to do and who to cover. Aaron Williams is not a stud athletic safety, he is however a good communicator and leader in the secondary, who IMO is clearly missed in the secondary in that regard, who is athletic enough to play effectively and produce physically. He is a team guy who understands his and others responsibilities.

  10. This team has enough talent to be a playoff team. They are losing due to poor coaching. On both sides of the ball, the play calling is what is getting them beat. That and undisciplined play that leads to penalties. All of these things fall squarely on the shoulders of the coaching staff. If you want to blame Whaley for something, blame him for hiring Rex Ryan.

I agree with this minus the blaming Whaley for hiring Ryan, that was the Pegula's, Brandon and Whaley in a collective effort.

That decision was an ownership and management decision.

    http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-1/How-the-Bills-decided-on-Rex-Ryan-as-head-coach/19b740de-0ca3-4dd6-8fdc-58c0cf013fa2

  11. The book is out on Taylor.

He can scramble. He has nice touch on his sideline deep ball most of the time.

    HOWEVER

He CAN NOT throw down the middle of the field. You can't succeed in the NFL without that ability, and he clearly lacks it.

Put the MLB that would normally drop deep in a Tampa-2 style defense in QB SPY. Press up in shallow zone on the sidelines to stop the checkdown and scramble to the edge, and backpedal the safeties to help over the top on deep sideline throws. Leave the deep middle completely empty.

This is what I found really disturbing last night, no seam passes, next to nothing in the middle of the field and this is not the first game that I have seen it.

His pre-snap recognition also seems to be lacking IMO, lacking as in not improving at this time.

  12. I agree, but it is rare see Intentional Grounding ever called. I have seen it a few times myself this year with the Pats D rush making the QB throw it away. Almost like they been told dont call it we want more points..

Did you happen to catch the Bills Dolphins game last November when Walt Coleman called Kyle Orton for intentional grounding on Thursday night? If that was IG, Brady should have been called for it numerous times last night.

  13.

:thumbsup: um yeah we blew the whistle but we are going to give it to em anyway, oh and you deserve a 15 yd penalty for questioning our authority.

And then we have to listen to the announcers say over and over that the Pats got screwed because Amendola would have scored. BS. Darby would have tacked him immediately but he stopped running when the whistle blew. Incredible.

Well said boys... Also happens to be 100% correct.

The call on Ryan was complete BS and the officials trying to over compensate for their own mistake.

Darby clearly stopped playing on the whistle, he may have even broken up the pass (maybe...), but Amendola wasnt going to score, that was some the biggest BS Mike Tirico has ever spewed out of his pie hole.

  14. I will not be surprised if he's not on the team next season given the contract. We'll see.

something is seriously wrong, he's gone from stud to dud.

if cut after this 2015 season , team would save almost $30.0 mil over next two seasons with $7.0 mil in dead money.

if cut after the 2016 season, team would save almost $15.0 mil with $1.6 in dead money.

Dare I say: That money could go to Glenn and Gilmore...

If they dont restructure I could see him getting cut and the money being paid out to others, if they do restructure the money goes to keeping Glenn, Gilmore or both. Either way, something IMO is going to happen with him.

  15. If Watkins had Brady throwing to him, Butler would have been toast. Watkins was open all night, as he has been all year, but for some reason, Taylor just can't trust what he sees and can't throw with anticipation to save his life.

    GO BILLS!!!

I am also starting to think this is the case, or maybe worse; He's not seeing it to begin with...

Pre-snap recognition really seems to be lacking...

Not sure I would say Watkins was open all night, as he was doubled most of the game, but there were some times I saw he wasnt doubled and open, but not looked or thrown at. Pre-snap recognition lacking?

  16. I disagree, it changed the hole complection of the game. I would bet the Bills go for it in the 4th quarter instead of taking the FG. Who knows maybe it works and the game gets tied.. but being down 2 scores you take the 3 and hope to get a chance get the TD later.

Butler is not Elite, t least not yet. Why would any competent coach leave a CB 1 on 1 to be beat deep like that?? Butler coverd Watkins very well and on almost every play. (IMO of course) I dare say he is just as good as Revis would be for us THIS year. 9key word there is THIS lol)

I agree Butler is a very good CB, but the safety help he had allowed him to cheat on the short to intermediate passing game. This is part of the respect I have for Belichick, he took deep ball Sammy out of the game with man coverage by Butler and Safety help literally over the top very often on passing plays. It allows Butler to play with confidence knowing that he doesnt have to worry about getting beat deep. I have not seen the 22, but the broadcast showed this scenario playing out often, I cant recall seeing a defense shade the single high safety almost directly over a WR like that, leaving the other 2/3 of the deep field exposed. Ever...

Knee jerk reaction in comparing Revis and Butler is that Revis played with less Safety help in last weeks game than Butler did last night. Make no mistake about it, IMO Butler is up and coming, probably arrived, but to say he did it alone would just be ignorant.

Exactly. I keep seeing posters upset saying McKelvin lost us the game. I just don't get how people can watch the game and completely ignore the most important aspects of the game.

His fumbles led to 3pts on the board. Big deal. The biggest killer in this game was going prevent and giving up a touchdown in the final minute, literally, of the first half. That was the the difference in the game right there.

Throw in a nice helping of Roman's short, conservative game plan falling right into Bellidicks defensive plan. The offense looked bad. And couldn't move the ball most of the nighg, especially when we needed it the most.

The McCoy drop, then subsequent missed FG, followed by the prevent defense in which they blew the coverage (Mario not taking the back, or Graham not getting over to the backside fast enough then missing the tackle) changed the momentum of the game IMO. That a huge 7 point swing against buffalo. Instead of going into the half up 10-3, they are down 10-3. That last minute of the first half was game changing, and that sequence of events IMO was where the game was really lost, Buffalo failed to capitalize.

No seam routes or anything into the middle of the field and no backside bootlegs or bootlegs in general was mystifying to me as the play calling went, I thought the game plan in regards to the passing game was extremely vanilla, and I am starting to wonder if TT has what it takes.

  17.

Right. they called it great coverage. bradham had one called on him against the pats in the first game.....the same damn thing, and the announcers said at the time that when the coverage guy doesn't even turn to look at the ball it's interference. First and goal, that's what it should have been.

That play with Bradham was the first thing I thought of when the Ref's did not throw the flag, this time Gruden says its a good no call, but it's text book pass interference.

1st and Goal Buffalo was the right call in that situation, no doubt.

  18.

The problem is every week the announcers state how whatever CB is following Sammy "took him out of the game." Yet every week when people go in and look at the all 22 we see this isn't true.

The Bills' playcalling and TT take Sammy out of the game more than any CB does.

Agreed. Watkins had his man beat on numerous plays, Taylor just did not read the play and deliver the ball.

Even on the broadcast it was clear the Patriots had a safety over the top of Watkins on almost every passing play. There were times when the single high safety was single high on Sammy only and the other 2/3 of the field had no safety help at all. Malcom Butler was doing a very good job on Sammy, but the safety literally over the top a lot of the time helps.

  19. The numbers are the numbers. Excuses are the nails used to build our house of failure.

It's delusional, at this point, to think that Sammy is near the same level as OB. This may change, but the facts are the facts now!

Folks we are 9 games into the season and our leading receiver has 329 yards, half of which came in one game.

I find it mind blowing that people still use numbers/stats as definitive proof of a players ability when that player is not in control of all the variables that go into playing the game of football.

Its delusional to post crap like this without adding context.

(Marshawn Lynch had 42 yards last week (?), 43 after contact, clearly he is not good  )

Folks if you do not understand the game of football and post/spew crap like this because stats helped you win $50 on Fan Duel in week 16 of the 2014 NFL season, then you are clueless about the actual game itself that is played on the field not your computer where numbers/stats win championships, but reflect little truth about the actual game played on the field.

There were several examples on the tape last week of Revis Island falling into the Watkins Triangle and clearly getting Lost. That is a fact, his numbers/stats do not reflect that but it did indeed happen.

Comparing OBJ and Sammy based on stats only demonstrates ignorance of the game and lacks context all together.

  20.

    That, right there, is special.

Same route he ran for the winner last year vs. Minnesota only he smoked a legend this time and somehow improved upon the running of the route itself, that right there is flat out sick.
Speaking of sick, the triple in-out-in move on the opening post route was insane in itself as well.
  21. IMO it was an early Russell Wilson type performance. His rookie year he had some clunkers and one prime time game he looked bad for most of the game, but he made the plays when they mattered. That was a great defense, Bowles defensive game plan worked, and it was a hostile environment. Good QBs find a way and he did. He was helped out by the defense ...but sometimes it means not throwing the crucial pick.

The crowd was nuts the entire game, reminded me of the LSU/BAMA game this past Saturday, where the home crowd had a clear affect as it did last night in NYC. Tyrod maintained his composure and never panicked, called a TO when he needed to and kept on keeping on. Tyrod was not perfect, but this was a signature win IMO for the team as well as Tyrod all things considered including; the weather and it being the 7th start of his career.
