People at Dairy Queen in Salem, Oregon know who the Jets backup QB is now, that's valuable. -
Whaley- "Doug, it would be a great idea if you met with Collins face to face for dinner tonight" Marrone- "I've never heard such a stupid idea, I don't need that kid, I've got this kid over here from SU I personally recruited, sure he's only 265 lbs, but I'll coach him up and my scheme is superior to the rest of the league."
-
Completely agree. Talk to this kid and his parents man to man just like a college coach on a recruiting trip. Tell him he'll be taken care of with the Bills family and will be put in a position to get his lost money back asap the same day he met with police while every other team went about just calling the agent. I'd have to believe that would speak volumes if there's only one coach out of 32 who valued you enough to be there that day. No BS from agents and no repeating a message he already heard from someone else. He's just had the worst weekend of his life. One coach was there to look him in the eye and tell him how much he's needed and believed in.

Collins would have sat out the year and entered the '16 draft if he was drafted after the 3rd round. Teams were not able to gain sufficient clearance to risk a pick in the top 3 rounds. Because he wasn't drafted, he can't reenter the draft. The Buccaneers had months of information gathering on Jameis, this situation literally just happened.

That makes me feel a bit better. Such a rollercoaster over a guy who might not even be able to play (both from legal perspective or not from being that good). We land him and our offseason is an absolute home run and the pick we lost from Sammy is replaced. He goes to Miami and we have to play him twice per year.
-
Given what we can offer, I'd have to imagine Green Bay would match it, where he already knows he can post numbers and they have space for him in their rotation.

Unless Collins is on that plane or unless we see an updated tracker with it heading back to Baton Rouge, I don't like our chances. Like I said before, his twitter is full of stuff from Landry, Sheppard and Johnson. I assume we didn't bring him in pre draft and they did. We had our shot last night, the deal didn't get closed, now the Dolphins get to put their full court press on.

It's all what Collins values. If he appreciates a smaller town, hunting, fishing, and more blue collar, Buffalo is his place. If he cares about flashy cars and the nightlife, go to Miami. Good teams target guys who appreciate what their city has to offer and build their locker room culture around their values. I've known guys who played for Pittsburgh and played in New York, they said in Pittsburgh it was all about family, guys drove modest cars and it was more professional throughout the organization. In New York it was all about what car you drove and what girl you'd landed that weekend. I imagine Miami and Buffalo to be much of the same contrast.

Speaking of his twitter, he gives A LOT of love to Kelvin Sheppard, Jarvis Landry and Anthony Johnson. I'm sure Kelvin isn't giving him glowing reports of Buffalo. I wish I hadn't browsed that, my outlook immediately went from feeling like we've got a real chance back down to he's going to Miami for sure.

Exactly, plus play the card of having your money decided on the UFA deal, so why pay commission on your much lower salary to this guy when he's already cost you millions? If there was already a handshake deal in place, it makes no sense to take this meeting with Rex, especially doing it without the agents involvement. Rex got a chance to talk man to man to him, it sounds like the Dolphins meeting is going to be much more formal with the agent involved doing plenty of talking. And it sounds like Collins liked what he heard. That's not nothing.
