  1. Browns, Bears, 49ers, Jaguars, Chargers, Jets, Panthers, Bengals, Titans.  All passed on Mahomes.

    That's a murderer's row of compentantly-run franchises right there!

Aside from the Chargers, not great company to be in.  Trubisky is fun to watch, but Mahomes does everything Mitch does, but better.

Two things that drive me insane are fans that don't grasp that winning leads to continuity, which does not mean continuity leads to winning.  Basic logic 101 class stuff.  The second thing is the insanity that a crappy old QB can mentor a  crappy young QB into being a great qb.

Likewise, culture doesn't come before results.  Winning creates the right culture.

If this was all part of "the process", then Mcdermott and Beane are playing with fire.

We are averaging 11 points per game. QBs, playmakers, offensive line, scheme/play calling are all terrible.

I don't know how you could see this and think that they are truly going to build a consistent championship contender.

Hard to believe that they're going to go 0-60 in one off-season.  Not much salvageable on the offense here in the 2nd year of the process.

I find it funny that people are iutraged by today’s game.

The Bills signed a scrub off the street a week ago and started him.

    LOL

I think the reasons why they had to sign a scrub off the street is the real reason people are ticked.

Watching Kelly and Reich on the field today you have to note that it's been 30+years since the Bills had the QB position figured out.

Watching the latest GM and HC so spectacularly mismanage the position just reminds us how far away from success the team remains.

    That's what's frustrating.

Trying to give the coaching staff a break.  Starter out, given a crusty vet to replace him.

I don’t know how McD survives the season if this keeps up.

I'd have sympathy for McDermott if he weren't directly responsible for the roster decisions that led to this mess.

Face it, this is Jared Goff playing under Jeff Fisher type of bad.

I can’t believe what a bad situation were in regarding the QB position. There’s still no consensus on whether your backup QB is starting, which is normal practice on any other team in this league, or whether we are trotting out a 35 year old veteran who was never really good who has only been on the team for a week. If that doesn’t scream “problem” then I don’t know what does. This is the process? I don’t want any more process. I want some positive direction and a plan.

No doubt, it's malpractice.  Whaley built a #1 running game and a top five defense in Buffalo, but he totally whiffed on the QB position and was justifiably fired.

McDermott has long career ahead of him as a DC in this league, but his future as a HC entirely depends on his ability to fix the current issues at QB.

Bean and McDermott have been playing with fire since the '17 draft when it comes to their QB decisions.

He'll still have to throw the ball , right? What is a game manager anyway? Still have to play the game

Sure, he'll have to make a few key throws, while handing the ball off 75-80% of the time.

The Jets ran all over the Colts defense.  The Bills can too.

And how complicated do you think the Bills offense is right now? It's designed for a rookie QB. Most plays have one or two reads.  A 35 year old veteran should be able to manage it easily, even if he only has two weeks with the playbook.

Avoiding turnovers is the biggest key to getting a win this week.  Knowing that, only a total fool would start Peterman.

Luck may not hang 350 and 4 on us, but he won't need to when we trot either Anderson or Peterman out on the field.

If the Bills run the ball 80% of time, they can railroad the Colts defense.  The Bills defense can handle Luck.

The key is not turning the ball over (and that includes special teams). Give Anderson the start and let him play the role of a veteran game manager.  That should be enough to compete with the Colts.

The Patriots will murder us, but a game manager can win against Indy's defense.

It has nothing to do with fans being impatient. Like I said previously, I’m not disagreeing with your larger point about fans and their impatience.

You mentioned 2 decades of futility. I merely pointed out that the Pegulas and current administration own a small fraction of those two decades and that a portion of that small fraction ended 17 years of the playoff futility that fans have suffered through.

You made a point. I agreed with it and sought to add some context. Nothing more. No need to argue it further.

The Pegulas have had 3 head coaches and two GMs.  They had to fire their team president because he followed the Michael Scott method for running the front office.

In a league that has been trending hard toward offense the last two years, they've hired two defensive coaches.  In a league where it has become essential to have QBs who can read defenses, the only attribute the GMs they hired seem to value is "arm talent."

No doubt that the Pegulas are great for the franchise and great for the city.  But they have had more than enough opportunities to fix the franchise.

They own this now.  Holding them accountable for it is not a bad thing.  The whole QB situation is a blight on the franchise, and it needs to be addressed.  The Pegulas need to be part of the solutiom.

  10. There is something wrong with the way that Allen is reading defenses.  Daboll's play calling is giving him open receivers, but Allen isn't taking them.

It might be an adjustment where Allen has the pre-snap read right, but then goes top-down, reading deep before short.  He might be trying to live up to his rep as a gunslinger, but with the Bills lack of deep speed, it's taking him too long to get to the shorter routes.

Brees takes the shorter routes, he generates a lot of completions into the heart of the field.  Having Anderson in the fold can help Allen read bottom-up, and encourage him to hit more crosses and drags.

The darker possibility is that Allen can't make pre-snap reads, and is locking onto one receiver and then he pulls the ball and runs when his lock is covered.  Nobody can really help him with that.

McDermott is a great defensive coach. He doesn't seem to know a thing about offense. He's really bad with time management. He's lousy on challenges. He wastes timeouts for terrible reasons. He puts a huge, too huge emphasis on ST and his ST pretty much stink, his affection for certain players is mind-boggling. He doesn't make a lot of good in game adjustments outside of the aforementioned defense. I can't honestly trust the process with one great quality and numerous questionable ones.

I dont think he should be fired of course. He needs next year at least. But he has a lot of coaching issues. Like his man Nathan Peterman, he does one thing really well, but we already knew that going in. That's how he got the job.

Yeah, in-game decisions. For example, that decision to try to pull Houston off sides and using a TO was mind-blowing.

First, that ploy never works.  Second, burning a TO to save 5 yards on a punt, when the game is late and close, makes no sense.

You can be a fan of McDermott and realize he has shortcomings he has to address.  Hopeful he's learning and we'll see him take steps to fix the coaching issues.

This regime does so many things right but does the most stupid things any regime's ever done.

It's like you have a genius sales manager that refuses to fire dingus over in client outreach losing every client he's ever met with.. and everybody knows it's killing your sales manager's career but he believes in Dingus!

Does that merit a firing? Probably not based on the good things they've done but step in Terry Pegula / CEO of weird genius sales manager stop letting them embarrass themselves.

McDermott is a great NFL DC.  Problem is that he's not the Bills' DC, he's the HC.

The HC has responsibility for offense, defense, and special teams (and nobody is talking about it, but McDermott's special teams are awful).

The Bills having a great defense isn't enough for McDermott.  As the head coach he needs to ensure the team addresses all it's short comings.  He needs to work with the GM and position coaches to deal with the roster talent, play calling, and stupid penalties.

I'd take McDermott as a DC every day of the week.  As a HC though, he has a lot to prove.

Are you sure McDermitt hasnt gone to Beane and said I want to cut Peterman? One thing is for certain- Peterman does have to go and both coach/gm has a huge spotlight on them now.

GM/coach relations run the gamut.  You have the Cowboys situation where Jerry is the defacto GM and the Garret has no real say.

Then you have the NE situation where Belichick is the GM/coach.

From what we seen,  Beane and McDermott look to be a true partnership.

There is no doubt that McDermott has had faith in Peterman. He's the one who named him the season starter. I think Beane trusted McDermott and followed the coaches lead.

I think accountabilty for the management of the QB position is on them both.

McDermitt coached his butt off today- this loss is all on Peterman. No ones getting fired- simmer down. Cut Peterman and keep building this team. The D is just about built the offense needs alot of pieces.

McDermott is the only reason that Peterman is still on an NFL roster.

Everything good he does is undone by his management of the QB position.

I loved the way the defense played today, but McDermott is accountable for keeping a player who has no business being an NFL QB on the roster.
