Belichick learned a lot about us yesterday.  Will the Pats figure out how to cover all our receiving weapons?  Conversely, will our OL be up to countering the incredible rush they'll attempt to put on Allen to enable those weapons to be effective?  Allen will have to get rid of the ball faster than he has thus far.

Belichick will use Gilmore to take Brown out of the game and will use scheme to remove Beasley.  He'll try to lock Allen in the pocket, and will load up the middle is the D to stop Gore.

The Bills will need to run Brown on comebacks and outs, ignore Beasley and check down to the backs and tight ends on the outside.  Re-introducing Foster into the offense would help, as would Singeltary being healthy.  Zay Jones might be able to find space on 10 and 15 yard patterns. They could also attack the edges of the defense with QB runs and jet sweeps, although they might have already shone too much of that the last two weeks.

On defense, Belichick will challenge Edmunds with screens and will run right at him, has he has had difficulty getting off blocks.  Taking away Brady's first read will be critical, so the ends should slow their rush to block short passes.  No Edelman will hurt Brady's quick passing game.

Middle pressure will be key for the Bills.  Expect the Bills to line up linebackers in the A gap, and mix blitzes and drop backs, looking to break up Brady's first reads.

The defensive backs will sit in zone and try to keep everything in front if them, which will be frustrating because NE will build some long drives.

Buffalo's run defense will need to be stellar, and this is part of the game they could be dominant, as NE hasn't really racked up great rushing numbers this year.

This game is winnable.  No Gronk, injuries on the offensive line and at WR.  Daboll needs to figure out how to attack NE beyond using Brown and Beasley.  Hopefully Singeltary will be ready to go.

By halftime Allen has been on pace to throw for 300+ in every game so far, we have just went into 3rd quarter snooze fests every game so far also. Kid had 180 at half time this week and was near 200 last week.

He's also has what, 8 consecutive 200+ yard passing plays? That may be a franchise record.

He's on pace for over 4000 yards this year, most since 2002.

Fun fact, Jim Kelly never threw for 4000 yards in a season.  Over his  HOF career he averaged 221 yards per game.

Does anyone really believe that Allen couldn't throw for 300 yards if that was the gameplan?  This guy isn't Tyrod Taylor.

The offensive performance the first three games of the season is the floor for this team, not the ceiling.

I don't know, they started out great against the Jets moving the ball at will until they would turn it over, then came out of the half playing more conservative

against the Giants they came out of the half conservative again

And today they were in a position to put things away and then came out conservative after the half.

Either the opponents are making changes to their game plans at the half while Daboll doesn't adjust his or they think that their defence can just keep holding the opponents to nothing while the offence just tries to run out the clock on 2 quarters.

Allen seems to be clicking better with his 2 new WRs then anyone who was on the roster last season, and the offensive line is already better then last year

The Bills are doing a bunch of things on offense.  They're trying to attack specific weaknesses in the opponent's defense.  They're trying to find the right personnel on the offensive line.  They're trying to increase Allen's completion percentage.  They're trying to work rookies in at TE and RB.  And most of all, they're trying to win games.

Against the Jets, they spread the defense out to blunt the impact of their interior DLine.  It was weird, because you would figure that this would open up run lanes, especially because DiMarco took a bunch of snaps, and especially since it would give a speed back like Singeltary open lanes to run through.  But the Bills didn't run in the first half, Singeltary didn't get a carry, and they flexed Dimarco out wide, which created no mis-match with the LB who followed him out.  It was a weird gameplan that predictably got repeatedly bogged down around the 50.

Against the Bengals, the goal was to attack the edges, where the 49ers destroyed Cincinnati the week before.  Problem with this was that the Bills only speed back was injured, so they tried WR jet-sweeps and QB runs, which were only moderately successful, and ended up only burning plays. fIn the 3rd quarter the drive before Allen's interception ended on one of these reverse sweeps on 3rd and 1.  It's an example of how the gameplan bogged down the offense during the 3rd quarter today.

The Bills are also still trying to find the right offensive line personnel, and this is causing some issues.  Ford has had a rough time rotating at RT, and today the Bengals DLine overpowered the Bills in the second half after Feliciano left the game.

The team is trying to improve Allen's completion percentage, and have him checking down rather than attacking the defense downfield.  It's necessary for his development, but the handcuffs are on, and Buffalo doesn't take nearly the shots down field that other teams with strong-armed QBs do (like the Chiefs, Chargers, or even the Ravens).

Allen has meshed with Brown and Beasley, but Beasley is an underneath, check-down guy.  The more passes that go to Beasley, the less chance that Allen throws for 300 yards (Beasley averaged 6 yards on 8 catches today).  Foster, last year's deep threat, hasn't been integrated into the offense as of yet.  McKenzie also has played close to the line of scrimmage.  It's apparent that the Bills aren't willing to unleash Allen like KC has unleashed Mahomes (and they might never be willing to do that).

Finally, instead of completely focusing on what has gone wrong for Allen and the offense, focus on the what has gone right.  This team has scored on fourth quarter drives in all three games.  On those drives, the team has loosened the leash on Allen and the rookies in the fourth quarter, and  the team has looked doing so.  As the coaching staff gains confidence in not only Allen, but Singeltary, Sweeney, Knox, and Ford, hopefully they'll open up the playbook like they've done in the 4th quarter after halftime.

Anyway, I hate the term "process," as it's often more of an excuse than anything else, but in this case, I actually believe that Allen's and the offense's development is a process, and it will produce results as the season progresses.

Is it that or because McD wants to put the game in his defense's hands?  The defense is the strength of the team, though he seems to weight the DBs above the defensive line, which is backward.

It looks like the offense is still trying to figure things out.  New O-line, new WRs, new RBs, and Daboll has tried to do some specific things that didn't really work out in the game plan (spreading out the Jets, attacking the edges against the Bengals).

Good news is that this team has shown the ability to put together drives and make plays, so it's not like they're a bad team playing above their heads.

They have talent and playmakers, they just need to figure out how to best put it together.

They are actually better. Yess they have beaten 3. 0for teams but they killed them even with taking their foot off the gas in the 4th quarter.

Yeah, they beat Luke Falk, Josh Rosen, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and a drunk Ben Roethlisberger.  McDermott should call the league office to see if the Bills can just forfeit the game to save the city certain embarassment.

Yeah that New England is a pretender. Surely they can’t be this good.

So why don't you go find Bob Kraft in his favorite Five and Dime massage parlour, ask his 59 year-old 'therapist' if you can interrupt for a moment, and present him the f###ing Lombardi trophy right there, so the rest of can get back to our home improvement projects this Sunday.

New England isn't the same team as last season.  They've beaten three teams who are 0-6 this season.

Let's play the f###ing game before we all kiss their a##es again.

Agreed.  I like the progress the Bills have made but we've beaten 3 winless teams.  Pats will handle us easily as they are playing lights out football.  Hopefully we keep getting better and avenge that loss later in the year at home.

Pats have also beaten 3 winless teams.  Bills need to work out their 2nd half issues.  It should be a good game.

  8. For the second week in a row, the Bills needed a drive in the 4th quarter, and Allen drove them down the field.  You don't win the Super Bowl the second week of the season, but you can do a lot to build the right foundation.

is this an A game for the 10th week of the season?  Probably not.  Is it an A game for the second game of the season, both in the road, with 8 new starters on the offense?  Yep.

Are they actually legitimately trying to say the Panthers are getting whacked because they just broke camp??

Appreciate they have sat some guys but until the pick 6 the majority of the Panthers first team offense was still out there.

I'm ready for the Panther announcers to blame Cam's stupid hat for the team's performance.

I wonder what the signing of a guy like Jones vs, say, Sam Young, who has started a bunch of games in the NFL, means.

Does it mean that they have faith in Connor McDermott or De'ondre Wesley to be a capable swing tackle? Does it mean that they envision Ford at RT once the injured guards return, which will push Nsekhe back to swing, thus not necessitating any major additions at tackle?

I can't help but read into what this signing might mean...

It means they are going to use this guy as a blocking sled for 3 weeks and then cut him.

It is possible (not probable) the P5t5rman is better QB than he showed in Buffalo and with better QB coach, better OL and better scheme (all which were not good in Buffalo) he will look better.

He's getting none of those in Oakland.

No way in hell but good argument.

It's a good argument that people need to learn Bills history.

Gilchrist was a fullback who was named AFL MVP, lead the AFL in rushing two seasons, and played on an AFL championship team.

Lynch hit and run a Canadian woman and got traded for a sack of footballs. But he almost averaged 6 TDs a season while he was here.

So you know, same thing. Can't wait to see the Bills put the locker-room cancer's name up on the wall next to the murder/convicted felon's name.

  13. The story of this game might be experience vs inexperience, but more likely, it's about the Patriots, the soulless, emotionless overlords of the NFL.  Aside from the grind of continual winning, this team hasn't done anything interesting in years.

And the dystopian hellscape of the NFL that the Patriots lord over is a barren wasteland of terrible officiating, horrible league office management, unbelievably greedy owners and moronic coaching.

The NFL is a dystopian nightmare ruled by an idiot savant of a coach and a QB whose entire off field persona is programmed by his wife.

George Orwell is probably somewhere having a good laugh about all this.
