Week 5 - Bills at Texans Game Week Thread
Sojourner replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
really? I think the opposite. without him it’s likely they are more inclined to pass the ball, something we are better at stopping. with him in they at least have a better chance at exploiting the run defense and pass defense as a result with some pa. if hes in, he’s making a difference. at least to me. If they control they game and we have to pass all day it might be a problem. texans pass D is solid. stingley/lassiter/pitre/ward/bullock are no joke. -
Safety is an issue brother. Hamlin, in the big games, is going to get eaten alive. He has to be in or around the LOS to be effective but since the injury/death he’s less head on in a tackle; rightly so. To play that free safety role you need reasonable speed and coverage skills. Hamlin sadly has neither. Im actually pretty fine with Rapp. Don’t think he’s that bad but personally I’d like Bishop to start getting his feet wet until something else can be done. I think he plays this week with Rapp not looking likely. Slide Hamlin to SS. The talk about Buddy Baker being available is where I’m going, especially if you believe there is an issue with the interior defense (DT/LB). 2 things fix that, pressure and better safety play as they are the backbone of mcd’s D. Get Budda. He’s played both Free and Strong very well in his career.

Raiders are open to trading Davante Adams

top 15 is still a #1 guy. hypothetically top 32 would be. age and price are the turnoffs for me if I was running the show. not the production he had with a garbage carousel at qb. -

whilst edwards isn’t the best, putting him on the same ability as damar is a bit harsh. he’s a average starter in this league who definitely needs the right pairing to help but I don’t think his safety partner defines whether he plays bad or good. that does with damar. -

that 2020 year was a masterpiece by him. dude was on par with Polamalu/Leroy Butler/Woodson for the strong safety position. His stats went down last year but that’s only due to him missing 5 games. -

its probably not viewed as a priority but rather position group that can still be improved. your exact end to the post of “complimentary football” is where this team is always going to be. keeps josh healthier for longer and he’s also deadly on PA. -

Not giving up much for Budda tbh as he’s a FA next year and is playing on the club option because a contract extension couldn’t be worked out prior. -
Who was Josh gonna throw to on the “flea flicker” ?

That play should be called “Spiller”. josh almost got his beans spilt all over the 50 of M&T. -

totally with you dude, I think it’s just a rumor but something is brewing for him to be taking that action. he’s always been a teammates guy on the sidelines from what I’ve seen. lets say you remove moore, there is still loads of talent there. id say it’s on par with what josh has here; Odunze/Allen/Swift/Kmet/Herbert/Johnson isnt the worst group a rook could be throwing too. an extra early pick next year may even be tempting as they don’t have a 1st or a 4th (unless the fields trade hits the requirements). id give up a 1st and a swap of 2’s… their later pick for our earlier out of the 2 second rounders we each have. Something to keep an eye on for the next 3-4 weeks. If it continues and the bears lose several games the iron may be hot to strike. EDIT: they actually have their own first. don’t know what I was thinking of. Maybe just one of our 2nd’s then? -

He’s sat on his own the past 2 games and left the field on his own at the end of the Rams game on top of that. He’s being used exclusive in the short passing game to the extent he had one game last season in which he eclipsed his total production through 4 games this season. It could be just a rumor but a top talent on a franchise isolating himself during game day in the most public portion is very telling that something is wrong. -

I’ve been reading talk about DJ Moore being unhappy in Chicago and the rumors are circling that, privately, he wants to be traded. What DJ instead of davante? -

What about that Vikings pick? essentially a swap of diggs for adams at the price of 2024 6th round and a 2025 5th. If they, like is being asked, take the salary on. the dead cap from stef really would essentially be adams for that earlier trade price. wouldn’t be that bad imho. -

last season it was him and cook splitting the safety job opposite until the playoffs. he was the guy opposite Reid except the game they played us where it was Reid/Chamari Conner. guy can play and has to be an improvement over damar at the free safety. damar, at least to me if he’s playing, is suited at strong safety far better than the free role. sadly, for that role speed and coverage instincts are not something that come to mind when you think of hamlin -

I hear you. the hilarity becomes when people state that buffalo are just pretenders and play easy teams. that conversation has happened at least 4 or 5 times with my coworkers alone this week, to which I reference the 43 games of not losing a game by 6+. the record over that span was 32-11. must have been a sh-t load of crap teams we played. outside those who are actual fans of the sport or people paid to talk about sports, the majority of opposing fans only have something to say when they lose. that’s always indicative of a good team. -

I understand how it works, loosely enough to cover the allocation of league adjustments to it each year and how teams spend. My point was more that if a team is constantly forcing themselves to restructure everything because they are that far in the hole, what is the actual point of a salary cap to begin with? if buffalo follow what you suggest I don’t think they even come close to being at the level the saints are. which is why, if you’re at that level there should be some form of penalty for egregious financial management. -

Between them and the browns, once the season starts I’m seriously not understanding how they have largely the same roster but have been -$20m+ on the salary cap for consecutive seasons… 2025 browns: -$42m 2025 saints: -$97m if the teams look anything like they do this season or even better in terms of players, then what is the actual point of a salary cap. especially for the saints. like you said, declaring bankruptcy is about the only thing you would thing to negate such a financial hole where the “business (players) stays the same” -

Maybe they’re getting a QB? in all seriousness, I read this from mike florio the other day after the whole rashee rice information and thought it might actually be something both teams consider come week 8 depending on where the respective teams are at offensively and in terms of divisional/league standings. -
