Ukraine is impossibly corrupt, russia is just much larger than them. It's a cat and mouse game.
Fair enough. Just wanted to know where you're coming from.

Russia is absolutely brutalizing them, Ukraine really stands no chance without foreign forces putting boots on the ground.
Russia is too much bigger and has absolutely no regard for human life in this war. They will.kill every man woman and child if they have to.
You said, 11 hours ago, that they're both scumbag countries. Why do you care what happens to one, or the other?

Episode 2 was...not that great either. The magician they brought in though, he was pretty good.
Rogers is a pissant. You watch that guy talk, and it's all sarcasm, snark, or him simply ignoring people when he's done with a conversation. This guys living proof of the difference between a phenomenal talent and a leader.

Something about ever war starts and ends with a pen.
Was Russia behind the euro maiden. Nulan finger prints, like ours are all over it. Euromaiden was a revolution. Then dubas and crimea did a counter revolution. And then an election.
But hey. There be energy and pipelines in that very small region. And crimea is a strategic military position for the black sea.
So your nuanced, historical explanation has less nuance or history than the Wikipedia page on the Donbas war.
Do you want to try again? Or are you just going to eyeroll emoji my response?

Come on, @Chris farley. Don't just post an eye roll and run away.
I'm a smart guy, who does his own homework, has looked at the same facts, and come to a different conclusion.
So pitch me on the historically literate, nuanced case as to why I'm wrong.

These(self reported) highly educated Dems sure seem to need a binary answer/narrative for complex topics. Lol
I agree, there's a long, complicated, nuanced explanation for why Russia decided to start this war of conquest.
The question is, why does any of it matter now?

Belarus would use nuclear weapons in the event of ‘aggression,’ Lukashenko says
He also warned that if provoked – especially by neighboring NATO countries like Poland, Lithuania and Latvia – Belarus would “immediately respond with everything we have,” including nuclear weapons.
Sounds like another Kim Jong Un , thanks Russia
Sad, sad grandstanding from Belarus. But since they're practically a Russian colony at this point, it makes sense that they yip whenever master tugs their leash.

Ron DeSantis' Debate strategy memos have leaked.
He thinks he going to win by...hitting Vivek, not Trump, and by sharing emotional anecdotes.
This guy is ***** clueless.

The best part was Liev Schreiber. The second best part was Liev Schreiber making fun of AR for not knowing that Manta Rays and Whale sharks are harmless. AR was too far up his own ass to realize it too.

I'll stick to Acts.

Vivek is running an amazing campaign to be Trump's vice president. He's parroting Trump's stances on everything, bleeding support away from DeSantis...
This is a masterful VP campaign.

This is the story formally sensible democrats like to hold their nose and tell themselves. Trump was a very electable candidate pre-COVID, in spite of the false claims about his partnership with Putin, and election deniers top to bottom in the Democrat party. The economy was humming, people were working, and corporations were hiring
But his highest ever popularity was...49%. A competent presidential campaign can work with that number, and the election was very close because Trump's campaign shaped up quite a bit after Bill Stepien took over.
QuotePost COVID, the democrat party spread vaxx misinformation up to, and including suggesting a vaxx under Trump should not be trusted. They encouraged and often participated in the very behavior we were assured would spike the death count during the height of the pandemic. Death and despair were very good for the democrats.
Additionally, the dem leadership shifted the “rich guy target” from $250k to $400k, and floated the student loan forgiveness program to include many, many well-off Americans happy to get the assistance.
The intelligence agencies intervened, of course, to limit exposure to Team Biden and his very sketchy relationship (financially, anyways) with his son. In doing so, they positioned Team Trump as involved in spreading Russian information.
This is a logical argument, it's just refuted by the evidence. Trump actually made up ground with the electorate during Covid. He lost because he ran a bad campaign. Also because a ton of people hate him, have always hated him, and will never vote for him, because even when the economy is humming, between 40 and 60% of America still hated him. Just like Hillary Clinton, but with credit to Trump, Hillary was a far, far, far worse campaigner than he is.

You think that Joke and Kammy, who would have to take over as President soon after the election, are electable?
If they're running against Trump, they are quite electable.
If they run against LITERALLY ANY OTHER REPUBLICAN WITH A PULSE, you'd get a Reagan/Bush style wipeout.
...but they're going to run against Trump, because they've used his crimes to manipulate GOP primary voters into picking him again. And vulnerability to this sort of checkers level political tactic is why I don't want Trump again, ever. Well, that and he's absolutely hell-bent on claiming more power for the Imperial Presidency, which is why we're in this mess.

The USSR had spies under ever rock and behind every bush too. Ended up not mattering because they bankrupted themselves with forever wars and unsustainable subsidies to shithole countries based on a commodity bubble.
It'd be great if China went to all this trouble of penetrating our military, designing hypersonic weapons, funding belt & road... then imploded because nobody could tell the emperor he's got no clothes on without getting shot.

That D Line of Dareus, Jerry Hughes, Meatball and Mario Williams was unreal. They had what, 50 sacks between them?

I think it would be good to make efforts to try to get them back to the negotiation table
Ukraine looks like a war zone it’s gonna take years just to rebuild that country from everything it’s people are being brutalized and displaced
Continue to fund them continue to give them weapons, but attach negotiation as part of the deal
Let Russia save face, but go home
I wish your argument had worked on North Vietnam or the Taliban. We'd live in a better world.

Its not Ukraine but anyone paying attention to the Nigerian Junta? Now they have suspended exports of gold and uranium to France.
US has had an ongoing intervention in Niger, lots of talk about a French attack on the capital.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_military_intervention_in_Niger
Wagner right next door in Mali https://www.csis.org/analysis/tracking-arrival-russias-wagner-group-mali
The protesters attacking the embassy had Russian flags.
Yup, I have been. France has as sprawling, "informal" Empire amongst its old colonies in West and Central Africa. Those nations are bound to France and French-run financial institutions by a lot of arm twisting and shadowy treaties.
A ton of money and strategically critical raw materials got funneled into French coffers for pennies on the dollar. Doesn't surprise me that those chickens have come home to roost.
-However-
If Putin and Wagner are behind it, and Putin and Wagner are basically bragging OJ style about how they're behind it, then the game is afoot. France+ African Allies vs Putin, Wagner and African allies.
Putin just backed out of the black sea grain deal, then blew up all of Ukraine's grain exporting ports. Which wete the major suppliers of grain foodstuffs in Africa pre-War. He just went to the African Union and tried to strongarm them with veiled threats against their food supplies, which he largely controls unless the AU shifts suppliers. African leaders who are sympathetic to Russia in a lot of other spheres are not impressed, notably Egypt and South Africa
So now there's lots of talk that West African alliances and/or the African Union will intervene militarily. Probably with a blank check from the French. Which is more egg on Macron's face, as he's been massaging Russia from the start, trying to forge an image for himself as a "realist" and a "peacemaker". Just to have Russia turn back around and kick him in the balls.

Ok. I'm not going to debate the point that you're making if that's what you're looking for.
But it is interesting to me to see why people think what they think.
I agree.
Yup. But if you're looking for a morally pure country to live in... well nobody sells real estate in space.
It absolutely is.
