  1. Now that Mularkey is running the offense down in Atlanta, they are expecting to be running the ball alot more and implimenting the H Back/ TE position, relying on WRs less. Second year man Laurent Robinson may have the inside track playing opposite WR Roddy White, thus pushing Joe Horn and Michael Jenkins into the background. Jenkins would make a good #2 WR. He's got the size, athleticism, and experience to fulfill this capacity. A lot has happened in Atlanta and this could be a player that might have been more a victim of circumstances. They are looking for another blocking TE and involving TE Matt Murphy in the deal may soften the compensation for Jenkins. Jenkins is signed thru 2010 but his contract is voidable in '09. The Falcons may be looking for some compensation now instead of losing all value with Jenkins in the next year or two.

Malcolm Floyd is another big receiver with experience and the Chargers are very thin with draft picks in this year's draft. They have a 1st rder and then a 5th rder but none in the 2nd - 4th rds. If we don't select a WR in rds 1 or 2 then using our 3rd rder for an experienced WR like Floyd could prove to be the better move for us.

To the disappointment to some I think that the Packers have more than their share of WRs and Ruvell Martin could make an ideal #2 WR. The same principles could be reasoned as the forementioned scenario with Malcolm Floyd, if we haven't resolved the WR position in the first two rds than here's another WR we could probably trade for by using a mid day pick (4th or 5th rder?).

I live in Atlanta. They are not moving Michael Jenkins. He is their inside slot receiver . They may cut Joe Horn.

  2. These means that we basically will be going with a singleback offense, replacing the FB with a TE. I have been waiting for this transition for the past 3-4 seasons; finally we have an OFFENSIVE IDENTITY! I've always felt we need to find a versatile personell group that can produce in both the run and pass. The offense had been so predictable as whenever Shelton was on the field we always ran the ball. Even if we passed with a 2 back set, he wasn't a threat in the passing game and factor in the TE's weren't either making us easy to stop: double team our #1 WR. We didn't have the O-line to dominate the LOS and push people off the ball so we were always bring in extra receivers on 3rd down making us predictable once again for the D knows it can just pin it's ears back and go after the QB. I think a singleback offense is less predictable; at least on 1st and 2nd downs the same personell group will be on the field. In a way, I wish we had kept Willis for I think he would have better success running stretch plays and cutback runs rather than following a FB up into the whole. If Everett can finally get healthy and play like the player we expected him to be or we draft a diamond in the rough TE we just might have something to look forward to on offense next year.

what Levy is saying is that we are going to draft another TE high(zack miller) and play 2 TE offense which is what fairchild wants to play. Everett and Neufeld are not locks to make the roster.

  3. I think there's a very strong chance that they'll trade up, either from 12 to select Peterson, or from 43 to get one of the OLBs late in R1 after selecting Peterson, Lynch or Meachem at 12.

I believe that this is a weak draft and would not trade down.

I think if peterson falls to minnesota, they would be interested in trading down. They could use Ted Ginn, but don't want to reach for him. It would cost us our 2nd to trade up and I don't want to give that up.

  4. You're insane, to think that this team has a TE need that is big enough to merit a first day pick is just plain crazy.

Alot of two TE formations? I saw more of the 3 and 4 WR sets towards the end of last season.

    Pure insanity.

    :w00t:

Both Neufeld and Cieslak saw alot of playing time last year. This year there will be more double TE formations as the FB position is being deemphasized. I do think it is unlikely that Zach Miller will last to the 3rd round. He will probably go at the end of the second. Most people compare him to Jason Witten. A big target like that who can block would help our offense tremendously.

  5. Is he fully recovered from his fractured foot? Will he be on the PUP list? This is an issue the bills have not discussed publicly. I know his agent Hadley Englehard, and I will ask him about it this weekend when I see him-although I don't know if he will tell me the truth.

  6. because while our team does need a RB, our defense needs as much help as it can get. and there will be more-than-serviceable RBs left in the 2nd and maybe 3rd.

i just like a couple GOOD backs running behind our new line, and an improved D. rather than a GREAT back and another year of a horrible run D.

    just personal preference.

I am inclined to agree with you, although okoye or branch may be preferable to willis. However Peterson is a special talent who will sell tickets. I would love to pick one of them, and then trade back into the first round to get another one.

  7. I say this....

If Yobuty ends up being a reliable starter last years draft will go down in history as one of the BEST ever

We may not have gotten a Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, or Andre Reed out of it.....be got reliable young starters at a LOT of positions.....

and could you imagine if Pennington ends up becoming a very good player?

I am already starting to get excited about the season......

I don't see it as the best ever. Our defense will never be any good if we can't stop the run. We made a huge mistake by passing on Ngata-he will be a perennial pro bowler and we still are unable to stop the run.

  8. If Olsen is still on the board say after the 25th pick, would the Bills trade there 2 and one of there three's to take him. A team that has so many holes to fill should never trade up giving away extra picks, but rather should trade down gaining extra picks to bring in more good young players. However, on the other hand it is tempting to think that way just a bit when you think of that additional downfield weapon for JP to throw to. Anyway its food for thought. (Excuse the cliche)

Many mock drafts now have peterson falling to us. I think it is likely. There is no way we draft Lynch with his off the field issues. If peterson is on the board we will definitely take him. We could also trade back into the first round to draft a LB or DT. I think we may take Zack Miller TE in the 2nd or 3rd round. His stock has fallen since the combine, but since we play alot of 2 TE sets, TE is a significant need.

  9. The man is a big space eater which we certainly need in the middle. Noone complained about his motor at Michigan. If he plays up to his potential he will be a steal at 12. A bigger question is if Willis, Branch and Peterson are available at 12, who do we take? Or do we still try and trade down to get another 2nd or 3rd? Remember we are more than one player away from making a run deep in the playoffs.

If we could trade down only 2 spots and still be guaranteed of getting one of the three-then definitely, otherwise I am not sure. I want someone who starts from day 1.
