  1. I may have registered back in the day, but I have 63 posts, all this year. Can you check if I have any name changes detective? There's no need for subterfuge when calling out pedants and herbs.
  2. I joined this message board this season, thanks. Seems like a good time so far, except for the chronic safteyism. Go easy on the conspiratorial thinking, save some energy for handwringing. It's an entirely reasonable thing to ask snowbird retirees to sit this one out and let the young people of WNY handle this storm, as they always have.
  3. God bless you man. I get where you're coming from and appreciate the WWE-style mic drops 😂 Before opining on extreme winter weather, people should write their age, mile time, and whether they still live in WNY or have bailed to sunny tax shelters. I think there's just a very wide range of abilities and experiences represented in this conversation. But like you said, everyone should be able to make a personal decision on how to approach this.
  4. Don't see why they'd close. Peace Bridge isn't looking at a big storm and Rainbow and Whirlpool are only going to get a dusting.
  5. I don't get it, are Steelers fans more capable of braving winter conditions that Bills fans?
  6. You say "prime Diggs" as if he's Randy Moss or something. He's a very good, top 10 WR in the league, playing with the best QB in the league. But he's not a prototype, physical freak #1. He's Stevie Johnson on steroids, which is an awesome player, but far from guaranteeing Super Bowls like you're making it sound.
  7. I think the issue is that modern politicians are so wooden and effete that they just can't deliver a joke. Long gone are the days of Jimmy Griffin bullshitting like he's the guy one barstool over. An inch per hour is not bad at all compared to the 3-4" per hour that the most wicked bands lay down. Sorry but I hate this attitude, it's leftover from covid-era fear bull####. The game exists for the fans, first and foremost the local fans. NFL TV cartel be damned.
  8. Offense: Ty Johnson - he needs to play and get touches Defense: Rousseau - abominable snowman containing Warren, maybe a tipped ball INT
  9. The "last one," being the 2022 Christmas Blizzard, was 4-7' over three days. Whereas this one is 2' over 36 hours. All storms are not created equal. While the memories of those lost are to be remembered and the lessons of that storm learned in their honor, we all have lifetimes of experience dealing with dozens of storms like THIS one. We're gonna be ok.
  10. If the time or location of the game changes, those bets will void unfortunately. So Steelers fans who weren't planning on attending are just supposed to up and go out of spite over a silly barb by a hometown Governor? And they'll be just fine traveling through the snowbelt? At the same time, plenty of people here are acting as if Bills fans traveling to the game will be on the Great Siberian Ice March. Slight hysterical double standard in play.
  11. Heard some disappointing news from an acquaintance in the DA's office today about an incident involving a player. Not a critical player and I can't say who, but I don't think it will effect things this week. I'll never understand how these guys can ***** up so badly.
  12. And now your food is full of plastic. All "progress" isn't progress.
  13. This storm has been projected for at least 5 days.
  14. It's crazy that we've had two months of zero winter and now we're set to get blasted by a storm directly on a playoff game. For those who care about Buffalo's image to the outside world, this is about to be a hilariously unfair portrayal of what life's been like here lately.
  15. Nothing is being "usurped." The State of Emergency is likely only in place BECAUSE of the football game, to ensure resources are in place for a large event during a storm.
  16. This is a football game, not a wedding, concert, convention, inauguration, funeral, etc. This is important.
  17. MODS? MODS!?!? He's saying we handled the weather inherent to our geography for decades without the safetyism handwringing of post 2020 world. We'll be fine, as long as we prepare.
  18. I made A LOT of money betting the under 36 from the parking lot at 12:15 when the insane lake effect band moved in to previously calm skies. Just like Apple weather etc, the line setters don't know local like locals do.
  19. Not a similar storm = not a similar level of danger. Pretty sure everyone survived when it snowed a foot DURING the Colts game.
  20. To be clear, this is not a similar storm to the Christmas Blizzard of 2022.
  21. Elmwood certainly isn't the Southtowns, but we get blasted more than people think. On the same lake effect path that hits the airport. 2001 was the first 7 footer I remember, but it spanned a week from Christmas Eve to NYE. NWS snowfall projections for Sunday should come out tonight yeah?
  22. Implied odds of Pittsburgh winning are 20% at +365. Plenty of money to be made if anyone thinks they have a 50% chance.
  23. I hear ya, I'm a major snow lover. I live around Elmwood and we had 7' drifts last year. I was walking around in the teeth of it all day just for fun, plus Cole's was open 🍻. It was the most incredible natural occurrence I've ever witnessed. But my point is that the less frequent medium sized storms are causing Buffalonians to forget how to handle snow. I'm 37 and none of my buddies prepare properly. We used to get a foot overnight and just drive over it in the AM. Now it's 50° or 5' of snow, nothing in between. This is shaping up to be like the Colts game last year, but significantly windier. That's a very rare weather game. But we got a rare QB and rare fans, so let the chips fall where they may.
  24. As many others have said, you shouldn't be trusting any sources that aren't NOAA/NWS or 2/4/7 when it comes to lake effect. https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=42.773700000000076&lon=-78.78695999999997
