  1. Cleveland Browns lost a lot of close games last year. The NFL has a lot of games that get decided in the final few minutes. Buffalo still does not have a QB that can throw when they have to throw during this critical time so I expect similar losses late.
  2. When I learned he lived with his sister I realized that he was not "the one".
  3. From someone I know that works there Whaley actually worked really hard and was one of the people who cared the most. We can certainly say the results weren't good but working for the Pegulas isn't easy.
  4. Buffalo has always been obsessed with the, "Where are they today." When JP Losman, Trent Edwards, EJ left there was a lot of that. Soon Tyrod will be next and I could care less about any of them.
  5. If you think constant complaining about posters who are not drinking the Koolaid is your definition of contributing I can see why you think so highly of yourself.
  6. Well, Whaley at least 1 year ahead of McD and Beane on Tyrod.
  7. Whaley may well have not been good at his job but it is irrelevant. You stated Mcdermott started working with Whaley and then thought, "Oh, time for a change." McDermott claimed Pegulas came to the realization it was time for a change AFTER the draft! The Buffalo News spells out the facts, Mcdermott was getting his people in. If you like that, great. But don't change the facts or the timeline.
  8. Yes. Read the article. McDermott wanted full control. His opinion of Whaley is irrelevant since his demands for total power came BEFORE he was hired.
  9. You could name 20 teams as poorly run. If you are not sure who they are ask someone.
  10. This is about what actually happened. Fans can justify it after the fact with reasons but Whaley is gone because McDermott demanded total control and the Pegulas gave it to him.
  11. "It was notable that, the day before the "formal" interview that would include Whaley and former director of player personnel Jim Monos, the Pegulas invited McDermott to join them for dinner on their yacht in Boca Raton, Fla. He had the Pegulas at "hello." He impressed them so much, that as Kim drove McDermott to the airport after the next day's six-hour session, she was already telling him to have his wife (who had been invited to Boca Raton as well, but couldn't make the trip) call her for information about housing and other essentials in Western New York. Whaley's virtual disappearance from public view after McDermott's arrival wasn't a coincidence. It was a fulfillment of a condition of McDermott's employment." http://buffalonews.com/2017/05/01/vic-caruccis-bills-wake-call-new-gm-wont-change-structure/
  12. No, your opinion doesn't match the facts of the matter. If Whaley was fired for performance why was he involved in the coaching search?
  13. Nope. He got fired because Sean got hired and wanted to bring in Beane.
  14. You brought up two different points, the coaching and the GM/personnel department. Sean McDermott doesn't look like a really new idea at all. Most NFL teams cycle through personalities. You have a players' coach, next guy is a disciplinarian. Remember when we went with Gregg Williams after Wade? He is another defensive coach who will be playing a scheme based on zone defense where the front 4 attack the line of scrimmage. We had that in Jauron/Fewell. I don't think he is a top end X's and O's guy. He seems to want to be an admin/CEO. As does his GM who came with him. The guys we hire are just names. Until they start drafting top talent it means nothing.
  15. Because most NFL teams are not run very well. They call on guys like Casserly and Polian. Sure, these guys were good but new ideas are in short supply. It's an old boys network.
  16. And Sean said Tyrod was the QB of the future. Should we fire him too? So your point is that a team liked a QB they just spent a high pick on?! Wow, never heard that before!
  17. Because most NFL teams are run the same way. There is a lot of group think which is why the Patriots roll over the rest of the NFL. Jim Bob Cooter will be a head coach and a very good one. His skills are in short supply.
  18. There is no basis for this theory but I have no interest in debating it. EJ's contract ran out and he was not resigned. EJ only played in the last game because of Tyrod's contract situation, it was not a showcase game.
  19. Who care about EJ? Teams draft QB's high all the time and miss. The point is you can't just sit back and cry about the miss. You need to go do it until you get the guy. Knowing what I know about how Whaley was ready to move heaven and earth to get a QB for Buffalo it does make me a bit sad that just as the light comes on they take away the keys. Here's to hoping the new guys don't think they have forever to improve the position. Ozzie Newsome missed on Kyle Boller. He went and got Flacco and won a Superbowl. Bills miss on EJ and since then no 1st or 2nd round pick on a QB in the last 4 drafts.
  20. John, this won't work. The true believers now take it as an article of faith that Tyrod took less money because he believed in Buffalo. Of course this would sound ridiculous if a Bear fan made the same case for Mike Glennon but here we are.
  21. I wanted a top X's and O's coach who could install a modern NFL offense and also was a QB guru (so that we could land our franchise QB). Kyle Shanahan and Jim Bob Cooter were the top guys for me. I see McDermott as a Marrone/Jauron hybrid. Marrone made the trains run on time and I expect Mcdermott will do the same. This sort of coach can work but he will need to get a very good QB. Since McDermott decided to go with Tyrod this year he is putting his entire coaching career on the line next draft in 2018. If McD and Beane do not acquire a credible QB prospect who can be a franchise guy I expect their stay in Buffalo to be very short.
  22. Having Matt Ryan in place and Kyle Shanahan calling plays. Bills have neither.
