UPDATE 2025 - The Trump economy
Big Blitz replied to Big Blitz's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The pitch: Keep tariffs high, but extend them 12 months. Give global partners time to lower non-tariff barriers, adjust their economies, and stabilize supply chains without lifting pressure. It’s a reset button with a timer. Uncertainty is a drag on GDP: Sløk cites a VAR model showing that a 1 SD rise in policy uncertainty drops GDP by 0.2 pts. More clarity, even under a tough regime, helps business planning, hiring, and markets. The Play: $400 billion/year in tariff revenue. That’s not nothing. It’s a de facto tax on global trade partners that offsets deficits and boosts U.S. leverage. The idea isn’t to end tariffs. It’s to normalize them and use the certainty to force foreign economies to adapt, not retaliate. Risky? Yes. But shrewd and smart? Absolutely. This isn’t a temporary negotiating bluff. We've written about this several times and agree with Sløk. It’s a paradigm shift in how tariffs are used, as fiscal tools, not just trade weapons. Trump may be playing a longer game than people think. -
Trump - for the good of the nation, resign.

This is what it’s like when you have nothing. You should be happy America is restoring the greatness it lost post Iraq during the Obama Error. But your partisan reflex disease prohibits you. Sad! -
Trump’s glorious Golden Age of America is here

I was wondering when he was going to comment on this: From whoever runs this account: The induction into the HHoF is a very prestigious public event to which new members are invited and regularly attend. It should be said here that since AM is a Russian citizen, he is automatically a representative of his country and therefore represents the actions and crimes of his country today. Yes, if AM participates in any event, in this case his induction into the HHoF, he will represent the Russian imperialist war in Ukraine and all Russian crimes associated with it, including the genocide of Ukrainian children. This induction of new members into the HHoF in 2025 on the territory of Canada would thus help legalize the terrible Russian crimes and would become a huge advertisement for the Russian imperialist war and this event would contribute to a greater number of lost and maimed lives. The HHoF and the country of Canada, if this were to happen, would be responsible for the huge number of killed and maimed people and for the huge material damage in this war. If HHoF (and the country of Canada) wants the 2025 event not to be an advertisement for the Russian war and at the same time for AM to participate in the event, they must give Alexander a chance to officially condemn the Russian imperialist war. If AM is interested in condemning the Russian war, it is necessary to support him and help him as much as possible. If he succeeds, the November event will not only not be an advertisement for the Russian war, but would publicly support the end of the Russian imperialist war. As a member of HHoF, I of course want AM to get a chance to officially condemn the Russian war and participate in the event. But the most important thing for me is that this November event is not an advertisement for the Russian war in Ukraine and that people do not die because of it. In conclusion, I want to say that I offer HHoF and the country of Canada @MarkJCarney (and possibly Alexander) my maximum help-cooperation in this. -
We just wanted you to bake a cake. You will be made to care.

I called this that day almost immediately. This adds another layer re Iran: Elon had to go back to the private sector, and did not want to seem like he was affiliated with the up and coming military operations, which would be understandably bad for business. Elon had to distance himself from the administration for optics purposes. I believe Trump, and his team, knew that they were going to strike Iran, and staged the feud to create the illusion of distance between Elon and Trump, so Elon could make a smooth transition to the private sector. Elon has been EXTREMELY quiet throughout this entire “12 Day War” and military operation. It’s not an accident. He is distancing himself from the situation, and rightfully so. Trump and Elon knew this was coming. Cheeky bastards!
