  1. it's still smoldering as of this morning. they have started demolition on one of the affected buildings.

the fire was in an area described it as an area roughly 6 city blocks by 6 city blocks. in spite of that (huge) size, this is a relatively small overall portion of the former footprint of the original Bethlehem Steel. I think this was one plant where they did cold-rolled stuff (but i could be mistaken).

there were a few businesses in there; self-storage and some type of plastics manufacturer is what's being reported.

  2. big pet peeve of mine...we are celebrating our independence as a nation and the name of the holiday is Independence Day. we aren't celebrating the day it falls on.

So the proper greeting is "Happy Independence Day". no one walks around saying "Merryy 25th of December" or "Happy January 1st". (i could go on but you get the point).

let's call it by the proper name.

    Happy (belated) Independence Day all!

  3. All Duffs are not created equal. The original Duffs on Sheridan and the one on Dick road are owned by the original owners i believe, and are the best (IMO). the other others are all franchises, and your mileage may vary.

the best way to order wings at duffs (pro tip here) is "hot but not saucy". this way, they aren't swimming in sauce, but are still plenty spicy.

  4. That's what good teams do. No issue with it. What if he got hurt easing into ice tub after the game? He's a football play for Christmas sake...

well we aren't a good team. or at least, we don't have a good record.

again, my point was to use him if the situation calls for it. i.e. in the playoffs, last play of game to get in the playoffs. none of that applied here. he isn't paid to practice or play as a DB. why risk injury in a meaningless play? he didn't get hurt so it's a tough argument. had he got hurt, everyone would be howling.

and for those that are saying, "he's a football player", do you ever see Brady or Manning out there as a DB?

  5. its a 9 point game with 3 seconds left. and sammie is on the field. there is no way even with completed TD pass that the Texans can win. Why risk injury to your best offensive player?

this was absolutely hideous. put felton out there, or gragg, or mulligan. but sammie?

nothing came of it thankfully. but that was a horrendous decision. if its the playoffs or game to get in the playoffs, i understand. you go all in. but it was nowhere near the case here.

  6. i think the key is that you have to accept the fact that Brady is going to get the ball off before you can get near him. maybe only rush 2 lineman, and drop everyone else back into a loose zone within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage and clog up the throwing lanes. put 5 or 6 defensive backs on the field and then a few linebackers who are fast and/or can cover. exception might be gronk, you put darby or gilmore on him man to man. it can't be any worse than the 1st game

  7. That's $9 billion in assets. I'd be interested in what the liabilities side of his balance sheet looks like.

quoting the article: "The two-page document...will show hundreds of millions in cash on hand and an outline of his debts..."

never would have cut it for NFL. I believe the NFL requires cash. "several hundred million" DOES NOT equal $1.4 billion

  8. been following this for a while. i'm a hiring manager looking for a Cisco VoIP engineer. located in buffalo. not sure if that's her specialty, but if it is (or anyone else), hit me up. been looking for months with no luck. i am pretty specific in terms of what i'm looking for. but salary is good.
