  1. @Right Manuel for the Job --

Perhaps you could give even one reason why national NFL reporters should pick a 3-6 Bills team (1-3 on the road) with a rookie QB returning from injury to go to Pittsburgh -- a place they've only ever won once -- and win?

Because the Steelers are terrible this year? Because they lost to the Vikings, their only win of the season? Because they have only won once at home this season? Because the Bills have a better record despite having more injuries and a harder schedule?

Didn't realize these things needed to be said. Very obvious.

  2. We are overthinking this. The Bills schedule is super easy from here on out. If they are a contender, they will take advantage. If they are a pretender, they will drop some games that good teams should win. Either way, when it's done we should have a good idea of what we're going to get next year. I would consider anything less than 8-8 a failure given how they've played thus far and how easy the remaining schedule is.

  3. I like the mention of the dumb idea of using Spiller on a draw right before halftime. I was wondering what that was all about when it happened. He was already limping and the play had about 0.001% chance of success, especially since Spiller wasn't able to play with nearly his normal amount of explosiveness. Why put Spiller in harm's way for such a useless attempt?

He didn't want a turnover, he had the lead, and was hoping maybe Spiller would break free and score. Wish he had called conservative plays like that in the second half as well.

  4. The Bills have not played a single game all year against a team with fewer wins than they had. Think about it. All opponents have had equal or more wins. They have a very good chance of winning the 4 games against the teams with zero and two wins. They have a very good chance of beating Jets and Fins in Buffalo (they did it last year for crying out loud). That makes 9-6 going into the final game against the Pats a reasonable expectation.

  5. You can't criticize this team for losing like previous years when the season isn't over yet. If they finish with 6 wins or less, fine. But right now, with a much easier closing schedule, there is every reason to believe that their "quality losses" against good teams will translate to wins against worse teams. Especially with EJ's probable return. I expect them to finish with more than 6 wins which will instantly make them better than the last 3 years, and also be a positive sign that the trajectory is upward for next year and beyond.

  6. You have to put this season in the proper context by acknowledging that their quarterback has missed half the games with an injury. I think everyone in that locker room believes they are a winning team with Manuel under center. They were 2-2 and heading toward 3-2 when he went down. They also know the schedule has been rough up until now and now gets easy. If EJ returns for Sunday, I think this team will be reinvigorated and pumped up for the rest of this season and the immediate future. I fully expect them to finish strong. I will predict 5-2 for an 8-8 season and an overall good feeling in the locker room that this team will be a playoff-caliber team next season.

  7. PLAYOFFS! Not even kidding. Look at our schedule. There is not a single game we can't win if we execute and play well. Steelers, win. Jets, we can beat them, they are playing over their heads and are due for a letdown. Then Atlanta, we can win that game....Ryan should be rushed all day. Just need to blanket Gonzolaz. Tampa, win. Jacksonville, Win. Miami and/or New England: one win out of there. that puts us at 9-7, should get us a wildcard, we win, and then play the top team in the AFC record wise (KC, haha), beat them, and make the AFC Championship game. Pull an upset over Denver when Manning throws INT's due to pressure, and go to the Superbowl, where Seattle can't handle playing away from home, and we win the Super Bowl.

BOOM. Must be something in my coffee today. !

    Haha love this!

  8. Agreed. The results are disappointing, granted, but this team feels a lot different than what we have seen in the last 12 years or so. I think the game this Sunday (in Pittsburgh) is huge, in terms of showing how far this team has come. We are all pissed when they lose...but we can narrow most of these losses down to 1-3 key mistakes per game...rather than them just not showing up. I loved the way the defense played yesterday...and I think Tuel is alright for a third string QB... I am anxious to see EJ behind center again...never thought the playoffs were a realistic possibility this year, I just want to see real progress, and I feel like I am. I feel pretty positive about this team.

We've been saying every game is huge for weeks now. I think we've run out of huge games. If they rattle off 5 straight wins then the last two games of the season will be huge. But this team needs to show they can win 2 in a row before I start expecting 5. Until that time, what's huge is that they just keep playing with toughness and heart, and they continue to learn what they are capable of as a team, because next year might really be good.
