  1. Don't care if prime Deion Sanders is covering him, you gave up 2 1st rounders to acquire him, no excuse he doesn't get upwards of 10 targets a game. If you thought he was so good then even if he's not open you give him a chance to make a play, that's what elite wideouts do. I've seen Dez go up and just get balls today when he was being covered by Sherman. We should have given Sammy more chances.

  2. Normally when the college fan base of the player you drafted thinks you made a big mistake, you know. I'm an FSU guy and i'll always have love for EJ, i was literally following him since he was a high school senior when i knew he was coming to FSU. But, he simply doesn't have what it takes. Great kid, works to be better but sometimes hard work isn't enough, you have it or you don't. I hope he catches on somewhere(Maybe even in Buffalo) but i doubt it. Was a terrible QB class, Buddy Nix waited too long to get the QB of the future. Onto the next one.

  3. maybe we can find our colin kaepernick/ russ willy/ andy dalton type in the 2nd round or beyond. It happens, occasionally, at least for other teams. Derek Carr has looked promising too for Oakland. Barring him being awful i'd give EJ the season, you've invested a 1st round pick in him and dealt your future 1st away to get him a weapon at WR. You have to give him at least two seasons. Barring him being just utterly awful.

  4. Bash EJ for preseason stinking ! Threaten him with Jef Tuel and Jordan Palmer! LOL. EJ knows he's the only QB on the roster who belongs in the NFL, ripping him to the media does what exactly? Prove Marrone is "tough" and going to holding EJ accountable? Cmon. Biggest mistake in the offseason was not bringing in a guy like Josh McCown to challenge and perhaps win the job. If Manuel plays like this in the regular season and the coaches tell him he's pretty and it's okay then i'll be upset. Right now? No.

  5. You're right. EJ has never made a good throw or made a correct read in the NFL. Everything he's done has been wrong...Everything! He's shown nothing!!!

Tim Tebow threw a couple dimes in his stint in the NFL, too. That's all it takes? A handful of good plays spread out over 10 games? I hope he ends up being great, like i said, the sample size is small. However, he's shown us nothing.

  6. EJ still hasn't shown ANY ability to consistently push the ball down the field and make plays. He's been a check down machine that's stunk in the redzone(Not all his fault). It's too early to totally give up on the kid but he gives me very little confidence. Our offense has hardly been explosive this preseason. As for Marrone/Hackett, i still feel good about both of them, this year will be big for them.

  7. I actually thought Aaron Williams was even worse a couple years ago.

I'm not holding out a lot of hope, but it happens folks.

Aaron was bad, but he also started out as a CB. The move to safety was great for him, obviously. Some have mentioned moving Cyrus inside to OG, maybe that's something the team will have to consider if he doesn't improve.

  8. It's early but he's been terrible. He's quite young and has plenty of time to improve but you have to hope his confidence and drive don't get beaten down by the struggles he seems likely to keep enduring. A team like this cannot afford to miss on high 2nd round picks. Gotta hope it gets better.

  9. I am not comforted by misery. I am not even miserable about any of this.

It is just my honest opinion based upon what I have seen and read, that EJ inspires very little confidence, to date.

The ones who are oddly comforted are those that can parse through all of the evidence so far and surmise that EJ is on the way to a successful career.

The truth is that hope remains because he is still young and inexperienced. Other than that, what evidence is there that he is on a good path? All I have heard on the positive side is that it is early. Yippeee! It's early.

EJ has this year to make it. He might. He might not. If he fails, the franchise takes another enormous step backwards. That's hard to do, considering the recent past.

Couldn't agree more. I'm an FSU/Bills fan, obviously pulling for EJ but i don't see it now like i didn't see it then. I'm no scout ,but your eyes don't lie. He simply inspires little confidence in me, i feel like i felt better about JP. I hope i'm wrong.

  10. You can't compare what Buffalo did to get Watkins to what ATL did to land Julio. The Falcons already had an established franchise passer in Matt Ryan, Buffalo's QB situation is far more murky. Most peoples' issue with Buffalo giving up the 2015 1st rounder is if Manuel doesn't look like the future we'll need another QB and won't have a top 15 pick to use to potentially land one. My thought is as long as EJ stays healthy and makes progress he was getting 2015 anyways so Whaley and co probably figured the 2015 1st was worth the risk since they didn't plan on needing/drafting a QB then anyways. If it doesn't work out we'll have a whole new staff in here and they'll have their own 2016 1st round pick to use on their own QB if EJ doesn't pan out.

  11. Talk to me in a year or two, we'll all have a better idea of what we missed out on. On the surface, however, i'm quite pleased. Like the addition of a dynamic WR in Sammy boy, love the added muscle on the OL. Think the Preston kid we got out of Louisville could end up being a nice backup to Spikes, or even his replacement one day. Bryce Brown is very interesting...
