  1. The thing that has begun to concern me about Hughes is Mario Williams.

Coming out of NC State Mario Williams was the stud. He had two other guys on his D line drafted in the first round- Lawson and McCargo.

My Concern is does Hughes look like he does due to what is on the line now. Mario, Dareus, Kyle all help Hughes become engaged in one on ones. Yes Hughes has had a great year. I think however this will be another case of him cashing in with another team and then looking more average.

Bills need to find another competent pass rusher to replace Hughes. I think a quality end with pass rushing ability will excel just like Hughes has. Maybe not to the same number of sacks. There is room for improvement in the run game from Hughes DE spot though.

I disagree. Hughes was a first round pick and at TCU he had no Mario Williams or Manny Lawson. He was the guy the other team targeted defensively, and he still got his. This team hasn't had an identity since the early 90's, this DL can be what Buffalo is recognized for. I'm all for keeping him. However, i also have my eye on 49ers OG Mike Iupati. They might let him hit the market.

  2. How could anyone on this board not want Jameis Winston? The dude hasn't lost a game in CFB! He continues to win amidst the constant scrutiny. By the way, it looks like the signatures were forgery.

I'm with you. Don't talk to me about crab legs, he's as good as it gets on the field, a true leader and winner, with elite talent to back it up. We'll never have a chance at him anyways.

  3. Really don't know where people get off saying this. The guy's put in his time, worked in a variety of positions with different teams, at different levels of the sport. He has had multiple coaching legends voice their confidence in his ability to become a great coach and turn around Buffalo. Even the great Belicheck had to get his lumps in Cleveland. You don't step in day one at your first NFL coaching job and become great. It generally takes years, possibly several different teams and multiple demotions. I'm really reserving judgment on Marrone because it's only his second year as an NFL head coach. He was, and remains, a solid option.

Exactly. The Marrone hate is kind of hilarious to me. Far from perfect, best Buffalo has had in a long time.

  4. I don't see Jimbo leaving the college game (FSU) anytime soon, if ever....there's a reason he waited for a lifetime behind Bowden to take over the FSU program...seems to be his dream job, with lots of money and unlimited resources and success....

I was just joking, i don't see that happening ever. Jimbo seems like more of a college coach. No shade to him, but, can't see him wanting to leave.

  5. Correct. Without Orton this team absolutely had a chance to finish with a top 10 pick. And if that would have happened the Watkins trade goes down as all time bad, don't care how good he is. Great wideouts don't make QB's, it's the other way around. Sammy got open for EJ, but EJ simply missed him or didn't even see him. This front office did the right thing by getting Orton and avoiding a 6-10 season.

  6. Seems to me that FSU (or their AD, at least) took this allegation seriously enough to go completely outside of all rules for this type of allegation in order to shield Winston.

To be found guilty, the threshold of doubt is far lower than in a court of law. The only way out is for him to drop out of FSU. Even in that case, he will still facd the inevitable civil suit, which, if it goes forward, could produce evidence that would allow the DA to re-open a criminal case against him.

Right, but this case has been such a complete and utter mess, i'm not even sure there would ever be enough out there for a charge.

  7. His lawyer blows a lot of smoke.

"Daniel Wallach, an appellate attorney with the Fort Lauderdale-based law firm of Becker & Poliakoff, P.A., agrees. “It would be highly unusual for a Florida judge to prevent an administrative hearing from occurring,” Wallach tells SI.com, “much less interfere with it while it is ongoing.” Wallach further notes that “courts typically do not review administrative proceedings -- which is what a state university disciplinary hearing essentially is -- until they are final and concluded. It would be shocking to me if a state court judge would enjoin these disciplinary proceedings before they even began."

Wallach doubts Winston could even satisfy the requirements of a temporary injunction, especially the requirement that it be in the public’s interest. “It is precisely in the public interest, “ Wallach contends, “to have FSU conduct and complete such an investigation."

Lawyers do that. You hire David Cornwell to fight. There is also the claim that the alleged victim tried to extort him, that's still out there as well. Look i don't know what happened, but i'm not sure this will end Jameis' college career unless that's the decision he makes himself.

  8. The pout was that it wasn't investigated. His lawyer was tipped off about the allegation before the DA. His lawyer "interviewed" key witnesses before the the authorities did. The police conducted a sham of an investigation--it's hard to prove anything when you aren't asking any questions. Everyone is in trouble for this one...

The alleged victim didn't even say that Casher and Darby were witnesses to the rape or failed to save her during the rape. Jameis probably said these two were there, they can back me up. The attorney gets to them ASAP and gets a written statement. The alleged victim was also asked by the school(Originally said police, my mistake)for 20 months to come forward and she didn't. Again, this is all according to Winston's attorney.

  9. i don't buy Jimbo's explanation. I think he's covering for him. I think he's stupid and makes poor decisions. JMO.

Fair enough. Though it was reported you could see Fisher approach and apologize to Jameis when he came back out minus his pads in the Clemson game. Maybe Jimbo knew the cameras were rolling lol.

    Form ESPN:

"Winston has until Friday to contact FSU's Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities to schedule an information hearing. We can probably assume that the information hearing won't take place until after Saturday's game against No. 5 Notre Dame in Tallahassee. During the information hearing, Winston will be told his rights and how the process of the hearing will take place. After that meeting is completed, the university must give him formal notice within five school days of the scheduled hearing date."

It's quite possible he raped someone.

It is, but as of this moment it was investigated(And has been continued to be) and we have no charges. Last i knew we assumed innocence until guilt was proven, that's all i'm doing here.

  10. i don't buy it. He seems like a moron. Sorry.

I don't know what there is to buy, it sounds innocent enough. I don't think Winston is the terror most make him out to be. He's lost the court of public opinion but to my knowledge has never been proven guilty of anything worse than some free crab legs and a free refill. Hey maybe some NFL money is all he does need to stay out of trouble, he'll be able to afford all of the seafood and sugary soft drinks his heart desires.

  11. The only thing different is that he hasn't been charged before the hearing. Sounds like they are giving him the benefit of the doubt there--he could easily be charged with multiple violations. His lawyer can't stop this. It's a school function and his school is now itself being investigated for the way they have botched and/or intentionally hindered this woman's claims or sexual assault. They aren't going to stop this.

Perhaps, but they may be able to delay it long enough for him to play this season out. And when it does happen according to his lawyer they are still sorting out what exactly they'll be allowed to say/show, ect. Lots happening here.

The best was when he got suspended for the entire Clemson game, but still showed up in full pads and uni. Fisher had to send him back to change. His wonderlic is going to be superfly.

According to Fisher this wasn't on Winston, Jimbo actually apologized to him. Full pads weren't supposed to be in locker, several football players have said they wear whatever is in the locker for them. Not sure that will be a big deal to NFL scouts.

  12. The autographs were authenticated by the same outfit that got Gurley suspended.

The FSU is definitely going to happen. His lawyer cannot change this. There can be no injunctions as this is not a legal proceeding. The rules for the hearing are clear--an advisor for each student can be present but cannot speak for the student. That's how the system works--no different for Winston, except that FSU is bringing in outsiders to also sit in.

FSU is going to feel the heat from the Dept of Education--no way they don't have this hearing soon.

Not quite true, Winston's attorney is going to call out the fact that FSU has literally created new procedures to follow up on the allegations. That isn't going to fly.

Oh, and unlike the Todd Gurley situation, NOBODY has come forward and said Winston was paid for these autographs, which is where the violations lies. Read up

    http://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2014/10/13/6971871/what-the-jameis-winston-autograph-investigation-means

  13. The autographs isn't a big deal, same thing Bridgewater, Clowney, Manziel dealt with last year. Johnny missed 30 minutes of a game, Teddy and Clowney nada. As for the hearing, might not ever happen. FSU is asking Winston defends HIMSELF with no lawyer able to speak on his behalf, Winston's lawyer will file an injunction. This will get strung out. Today on OTL Winston's attorney said they don't even know what the actual regulations for this 'hearing' will be, won't happen for weeks if at all.

  14. To the OP....I dont get it......is it that everyone ELSE is blaming Hackett and you feel the need to be special and blame Watkins?

    - WR's can only make plays when they are given the opportunity

    - Watkins was targeted 3 times

How do you even know if he was open......Orton wasnt even looking his way most of the game

I don't know that he was open, that's why i said, even if he's not "open" you give him a chance to go up and make a play. You think AJ, Calvin, and Dez only get targets when they are running free in the secondary? No, they're special talents and you give them opportunities to make special plays. When you give up what Buffalo did to acquire Watkins they must think he's on that level, give him a chance to show it.
