  1. Have to admit that I haven't seen him play very much... but the scouting reports seem to describe a text book back-up quarterback... one that would be fine if he had to actually play a little bit.  I'm thinking of a Chase Daniels type based on what I've read... and I think that Daniels has been a pretty successful backup NFL QB at a few stops now.  My two cents.

Been watching some old playoff games on YouTube and remembering all the best teams had good dependable kickers... which we no longer have. Anybody worth a late round pick in the draft? I'm finally ready to move on from Hausch$

Most guys don't seem to break in right from the draft... they hang around the league for a while... try out or join the practice roster for several teams... until a big break finally comes and they're ready to not perform like a rookie.

Are the Bills set at backup QB? Seems to me if Allen goes down the team could be in trouble. Barkley had that great game two years ago against the Jets, but I'm not confident that he can do the job for any length of time if he has to.

But I suppose most every team in the league has questions at backup QB.

Only when they have to actually play...

Trying to recall last season did we have a 4 or 3 man rotation at DE?  I know we had Hughes, Lawson, and Murphy mainly.  And 7th rounder Johnson.  Am I forgetting someone that did play a fair amount of snaps?  Now have Addison, Hughes, Murphy, and Johnson.

At tackle had Oliver, Phillips, Star, and Liguit (once Harrison went down).  This year have Oliver, Star, Harrison, the new guy Butler, but also another or does that last one plat both tackle and end?

I've read that newcomers Jefferson and Butler can both play tackle and end...

I would rather $10 million Trent over $20 million Clowney or Ngakoue. After that, are there any other impact guys that would be worth cutting Trent for?

I just can't believe that the Bills would cut Trent Murphy after patiently waiting almost 2 years for the pre-surgery player to show up.  He'll get at least training camp and the pre-season games to prove that the end of last season wasn't a mirage.  Like Poyer, he might even get extended.

The Bills have just gave up a boatload of draft picks for a WR.  I admit he is an upgrade for what we currently have, however when a GM named Doug Whaley traded picks for Sammy Watkins, he never lived down that decision. Do you remember why Whaley made the trade? it was to bolster and support a young QB named EJ Manual.  This trade was done for the current young QB Josh Allen.   I hope this works out,  if not, it will be a disaster.  If it doesn't work,  will the fans criticize Beane like they did Whaley?

    (1) the team wasn't nearly as ready to win then and (2) even Watkins might have worked out fine if he hadn't developed those chronic fracture problems with his feet. Sammy had turned out to be a pretty good receiver... even with all the physical challenges.

Haskins played worse than Rosen ever has.... so there is that....

At #54 the Bills will be in position to grab one of the cluster of edge rushers. My guy Bradlee Anae out of Utah, @thebandit27's guy Jonathan Greenard out of Florida, Josh Uche out of Michigan.... all in play.

The thing about an edge rusher that really worries me... they either figure out how to get to quarterback in the NFL right away... or they're basically going to be a bust.  The undersized guys that get it done with pure speed (and bend) around the edge in college... well, it's a whole different thing when a quality NFL tackle gets his hands into you.

Agreed. I'm not as bullish, as many others are, about our chances to take the division.

We should be in the hunt. But the pats wiil still be tough (is Dalton that much of a step down from the current Brady). And I expect the dolphins to be a lot better next year.

You'll hear no sh!+ talking from me about the current state of the pats. Though I'm hoping we stomp them into the ground.

I'm not so bullish on the Dolphin's prospects as others on this board.  Yesterday, they put some fresh lipstick on the pig... but you can't erase years of bad drafting, poor player development, a revolving door of coaches and extremely questionable management moves with one solid free agency swing.  I think that it all starts with the ownership down in Miami... and they're not out of the woods yet.

I agree. His tackles, pressure rate, tackles for loss, knockdowns and hurries are not in the same company as his sack totals. #20 in sacks, #50 total pressures, #65 in hurries, #138 QB hits.

There must be a reason that pff had him as their #70 out of 95 edge defenders last year, lower than Murphy Hughes and Lawson (even if pff sucks, as a lot seem to think, they can't be that far off). Maybe he could be more of a situational pass rusher sack artist, but he is not an all around stud at the position. Even the chart of top sack totals for last four years shows his lack of tackles compared to the others.

But once again, McBeane know him a lot better cause they coached him a few years ago.

Welcome to the Bills, I hope you are a lot better than pff thinks you are.

    Yes they can.
