  1. Is anyone else sick of Jeremy White?

I enjoy (or at least used to) listening to Howard Simon in the morning. I don't always agree with his opinions or conclusions, but he generally is well spoken, and fairly rational. Also, unlike many other sports talk personalities, he actually considers an opposing argument instead of immediately dismissing it, provided it has some merit.

Now, the show has de-evolved to Jeremy White screaming at callers and basically taking over the morning show. His co-hosts and callers can barely speak before this guy is screaming like someone is ripping off his toenails with pliers. It's to the point where I'm considering just going back to listening to music during my morning shower and drive.

Is anyone else bothered by White as much as me, or am I in the minority here? (Or, alternatively, does no one really care?)

I've said this from the very beginning when Howard moved to mornings at WGR. Last time I looked it was the "Howard Simon Show".

More Howard and ONLY turn on Jeremy's mike when he is doing 20/20 sports updates.

  2. Someone needs to tell those Ravens fans over at there home that Willis is not LT.

Its like a party has erupted over there.

They obviously don't go to the right boards for Bills fans because there saying that our fan boards are ghost towns. Yeah okay..........

They also are saying that Willis doesn't dance like Jamal did lol. And Ozzie Newsome was talking about Willis being a good pass blocker. Are they talking about the same Willis we know?

The first part of this quote from Ozzie also made me laugh...

"This is a runner who can make people miss [tackles] and has the explosion and speed to take it the distance,"

  3. I'm sick of Briggs trade proposals(and usually bad ones at that). Where has it been stated that Chicago is actively shopping him. All that was said, is that Briggs is unhappy that they tagged him. Whoop de friggin do! He's not the first player to be UNFAIRLY slapped with the tag and he won't be the last.

PS Note to all these geniuses. If you don't like being tagged, complain to your union leadership who keep agreeing to it as part of a new CBA.:devil:

  4. why wouldnt you be anything but happy and positive? the team is addressing needs at positions we've been begging for for almost 10 years.

sure they could tank, yes its good that authority is questioned in their decisions, no i dont expect anyone to "drink the koolaid" and be talking about a championship. but it seems that the Bills attract fans that like to have something to complain about or naysay just so they can be the first to say "told you so! i am the king of internet cred!"

if you are a Bills fan, you should be happy about last week.

if people dont want to BILL-IEVE than they can go cheer for the Patriots...

(this wasnt all directed only at you Labatt, just generally speaking on the attitude of "fans")

I didn't say I wasn't happy. I said I was skeptical. I'm GLAD that they seem to be addressing the OL and with the length of contract they gave these guys, I would hope that they are more of a solution than past years acquisitions.

All I know is that they gave a lot of money to 2 guys whose names don't seem a lot different from Bennie Anderson, Mike Gandy, Chris Villarrial, Tutan Reyes, etc...

  5. Are you related to Peter King <_< In his MMQB he was very skeptical...Of course he is a boston homer and was all praise for how the Pats signed to Thomas and Kyle Brady and how fantastic is the deal for Wes Welker....and how we overpaid for above average talent..... <_<

Why should I be anything but skeptical? Just because we threw millions of dollars at them means they will be good?

  6. Now that the smoke has cleared I think it’s safe to say that after over 10 years of waiting they have finally addressed the needs of offensive line in total not just a one “player” patch work. Hats off! I look forward to a much improved offense this year. Can’t wait till fall!

While the $$$ spent makes me want to believe that there will be a significant improvement in the OL play, I will reserve judgement until the season starts. <_<

  7. Bryant Cut

Bryant is a headcase but i abosolutely love this guy's game. One of the most talented recievers out there, him and Lee Evans would give use one of the most outstanding 1-2 WR combos in the entire NFL. Also i think Dick Jauron's style of coaching might suit Bryant's hot headed personality, plus he would have no national media attention in Buffalo.

Take a look at his track record. Calling him a headcase is a major understatement...

    1. Bryant caught 40 passes for a team-leading 733 yards last season, but repeatedly ran afoul of coach Mike Nolan's strict disciplinary standards. Bryant was arrested in November after a wild escapade in his orange Lamborghini, and he later angered Nolan for being late to a team meeting. Bryant ended last season midway through a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy -- and the 49ers decided they wouldn't wait to deal with Bryant's next problem.

    2. During a minicamp practice in 2004, Bryant and Cowboys coach Bill Parcells got into a heated dispute that ended with Bryant throwing his sweaty jersey at Parcells' face.

    3. Bryant was kicked out of practice by security, sent to anger-management counseling and eventually traded to Cleveland, where he was dropped after conflicts with coach Romeo Crennel despite posting his first 1,000-yard season in 2005.

    I'll pass.

  8. So what do you think Schumer, Clinton, Reynolds, etc. should be doing, if anything, when it comes to protecting the Bills?

They can get involved to a certain extent(if things get a lot worse than they are now), but for a US Senator to be pleading that the Bills schedule should be arranged so that they don't have as many blackouts is a joke.

If Bills fans can't sellout the stadium without the help of a favorable home schedule, than the games are not on TV. Simple as that. This is such a big deal that Schumer needs to come to the rescue? Once again, I would like to believe that there are more important issues on his plate.

You quote a lot of estimates, studies and so forth regarding the Bills in Buffalo, but I'm sure there are plenty of cities(the size of Buffalo) throughout the US that are thriving without a NFL football team. Don't get me wrong, I'm a lifelong WNY'er who doesn't want to see them leave, but it wouldn't be the end of the world if they did. That being said, Ralph's posturing is getting old and I'm not sure how much of it, is a case of "the boy who cried wolf", but this is why Schumer is getting all riled up?

The Bills are not moving and Schumer(like every other political hack) is just looking to get his name in the media without accomplishing much of anything.

  9. Do you have any idea how much money and attention an NFL team brings to its home region?

No, I don't have any idea how much money this brings to the area...enlighten me? How much money does the county dole out to the Bills every year? Ask your breakfast buddy Reynolds these questions and then get back to me. As far as the amount of attention an NFL team brings to an area...who gives a s-h-i-t.

  10. I can appreciate Shumers interest in keeping the Bills here, but considering how F***ed up New York State is, I would think there are things higher on the pecking order than this.

Now wonder this state is a joke.

WHEN THINGS DON'T CHANGE FOR THE BETTER, DON'T RE-ELECT POLITICIANS OVER AND OVER AGAIN. :P

  11. Just because he is more exuberant than others doesn't mean they have any less heart than him. It's different strokes for different folks.

Exactly. I'm not saying Hargrove cannot be a good player for the Bills, but everyone also loved Krumrie because he ran around with a lot of energy and had this great wrestling test to determine what college DT's were draft worthy.

We all know how that worked out. :wallbash:

  12. Howard Simon is talking about that god awful, ridiculous e-mail that has been floating around. You know the one. That one that just won't go away. HS doesn't believe the story. Neither do I. Which is why I will not even specify what that dumb @ss e mail is about.

You don't believe it, HS doesn't believe it, you don't want to mention it by name, BUT...

you start another thread about it! :wallbash::P

  13. To those who either know a lot about the subject or have had a Lennox furnace installed recently...

My furnace blower motor is dying. I had two different contractors tell me that considering the age of the furnace(25 years or so), don't bother investing in the cost of a blower($300-400 contractor repair).

    My question is...

I have an estimate for a Lennox G43 furnace installed for $2500. Does this sound reasonable? I'm not really interested in knowing if another type of furnace is a better deal(I like the Lennox brand name), just that I am not overpaying for the model I am looking at.

    Thanks!!

  14. Have to disagree with you on that one. Corey Moore was not asked to play a position different from the one he had excelled in or was drafted for. 'Slash' type players are very rare and don't have a significant impact on any position if they are playing a multiple of them. One example is of Kordell Stewart drafted as a WR, given the chance to become a QB which shortened his NFL career because he could not reverse that sequence. Let CW bulk up over the off-season and let our coaches train him as they did JP - worst case we may have a decent spot-duty MLB. Sheer enthusiasm may ensure he performs atleast adequately in that role.

Corey Moore was just an example. My point is that there are many conference all americans in college who just didn't have what it took to play in the nfl.

  15. You're right, because a guy who was a 2nd team all american at stanford, and 1st team all pac-10 at the LINEBACKER position obviously has no talent and no ability to play linebacker.

...and players like former Bills draftee Corey Moore were also GREAT college football players that didn't amount to sh-- in the NFL. Since when does great in college equal NFL caliber player?
