  1. i after a while, fell in love with the white. I was a die hard red helmet guy but i would play madden w the red uni's and it looked laughable after getting used to the white. and then I saw it..."clown suits" they really did look like clowns. I didnt ever get this reference before.

In Madden I do however put the 90's red sox on the current uni and it looks awesome. I actually think that, and a red charging buffalo would be truly amazing.

  2. Goodwin is a football player who ran track. Graham is a track star who plays football. They couldn't be more different as football players. Goodwin is the real deal.

    GO BILLS!!!

i was wondering if goodwin wasnt a replacement for graham, but if graham continues to impress...hes taller and bigger and about as fast. and again, its football, not brain surgery. these guys can still grow and improve. Id like to think we have the makings of a fab four like houston used to have with Moon. 4 ballers, the best of which (sj) is the slowest.

Also to the OP...quick and early means a 5 yard slant which gets you 5 yards most of the time. Or incomplete. Its nice to dream about a 2 second release and TJ or MG going to the house but it just doesnt work that way. Play action or just going deep...thats how you get points.

i could be completely wrong here, but graham seems like he is more straight line speed guy where you get him going in one direction and hit him in stride and he can burn you. whereas goodwin seems like he has a bit more start and stop/shiftiness to his game, maybe a bit like a smaller cj. i can only go off of the highlights i saw of goodwin and the limited action i saw from graham last year to come to these conclusions. all i know is that they both have a lot of speed to offer, and the coach hackett will do all he can to use them to the fullest. it's on them to perform or get out of the way of the next man up.

yes maybe he will be as good as parish!!!!! he was like that. same size too!

  3. lets put it this way! Is smith one of the best 5 play-maker's on our offense? If not then he wont be seeing any playing time according to our new OC. Second should a player who has proven to have limited upside be payed 4 million to cover kicks? Or maybe have a 20 yard kickoff return? Third is there any other player on the team that could get 2 or 3 yards out of the wildcat? I pretty sure there is. bottom line we don't need him!

well hes probably the 4rth best "playmaker" on the team now. behind cj sj and fj. why would you risk cj or mckelvin on kick returs when we are thin at cb already? brads bigger than both and faster than mckelvin. And even if hes the fifth or sixth best wr, what happens when 1 or 2 go down w injury? You dont want smith at that point? by the way that has already happened both years hes been here. Did you hate seeing those touchdowns he scored when he had to come in and sub for a hurt WR? why people always want aomeone cut and released when their cap number is a little high I dont get. Is it your money? I get guys that dont produce but Smith has had few opportunities and has hit some home runs for us on those few occasions. Its not his fault he was hardly featured, blame Chan.

  4. smith cant catch the deep or jump ball, he is still a good st guy and back up or 5th wide out, graham and easley are the bubble palyers. No way they cut goodwin who is faster than graham and possibly better hands, (unkown ) but tj isnt sure handed and not that fast, just faster than most. Goodwin is smaller though so he needs to prove he can catch. However, its really up to easley to make it a challenge, hes had alot of drops in past preseasons and if that happens this year i say hes out or buf just keeps 7. Why wouldnt they keep 7 inc darick and smith since they want to have a spread heavy passing attack, and they dont have a FB anymore.

  5. this rating doesnt figure in QB so I say we have better players than some of the top ten teams, i see old running backs on a few, no name running backs, average receivers and 6 guys listed on most the other teams whereas we have only 5. How is Baltimore rated higher? Torey smith? hes average. Steven jackson and gonzalez on the falcons, arent they ten year plus players? the pats have lost big names and are actually listing donald jones as their wr. who are the denver running backs now? ive never heard of any of them. I see about 5 teams who def have more talent at the skill position than the bills mainly due to having a TE, houston, NO, SF....It has The chiefs at the bottom but the bengals and the panthers near the middle? steve smith as the only WR listed at 35 and whos really good on the bengals besides Greene? do they have a RB anyones heard of?

    the ratings are almost backwards

  6. You know you're right about Flutie vs Trent arm strength-wise.

In that case I nominate Matt Kofler for arm strength. He had a serious rag arm. Ferragamo also had a weak arm as did Kelly Holcomb.

    And sadly, there are others…

yes i thought the same thing, how sad it is that for arm strength I could have said trent, holcolm, and of course fitzpatrick, sadly the ones with the best arms had little brains, losman and RJ. But I could easily just use one guy and make the same joke for almost all categories...here goes...

Stature:: rob johnsons nose...nothing stood out so prominently

Pocket Presence: Trent edwards...he was always right in one, until he got sacked

    Arm wrist Strength: Trent Edwards

Accuracy: trent edwards (not hard when you throw only to running backs)

Scramble out of bounds Ability: trent edwards ( and is running backwards and to the right everytime a scramble?)

Leadership: Trent edwards ( he lead the his team in new hair styles every year)

Toughness: Trent edwards ( its hard to last over 3 plays in the NFL) nod to RJ who once got knocked out the first play of a game. flutie won it,but rj got the official "Win"

Decision Making:Billy Joe hobert (you cant beat admitting you dont know the playbook)

  7. Very funny stuff BUT…

teammates of T Jackson rave about his leadership ability. He's played injured a lot and his been a model teammate wherever he's been.

Also, while he was a glove-wearing Mary, etc. Trent had a stronger arm than Flutie… inasmuch as Flutie was a much better QB.

t edwards used his wrist to throw even on deep balls. His "deep" ball often fluttered and went through the air about 30 yrds maybe 40 maximum, Flutie would put it deep all the time with no flutter and it would travel some 50 yards at times but usually around 40, his BC hailmary was about 60 if im not mistaken so your take on flutie vs trent is incorrect. Trents arm was also visibly weaker while flutie had some short but thick mini-guns.

As for TJ I was referring to all the onfield leadership we saw him display as a Bill : ) Also I had used up all the current bills qb's besides losman but he did actually come across w decent leadership ability. I could have put trent there but that would have left losman as the arm strength guy which was actually true!

  8. If you could pick and choose, physical and mental traits, of all the QB's in the NFL and combine them, what would they look like?

Try and limit your QB to having only only trait from any other QB.

Feel free to add or delete any of these categories while making yours. I felt these to be some of the biggest factors IMO. I chose to keep it with present players but if you want to go old school, make it worth it!

Hope to see some interesting combinations.

    Sincerely,

    -Bored at Work

    Here's my Super-Q...seriously.

    Stature: doug fluite

    Pocket Presence: Rob johnson

    Arm Strength: Trent Edwards

    Accuracy: Ryan Fitzpatrick

    Scramble Ability: Drew Bledsoe

    Decision Making:Billy Joe hobert

    Leadership: Travaris Jackson

agian, I am being completely serious......pffft hhahah hhamuhahhaaa MMMUAHAHAHAH

  9. now its a battle of all time bills from 1998 to present? Scheobel vs Winfield, Williams vs clements etc? Why argue who was better at non comparable positons? This thread was about Moulds' talent. I understand comparing T Edwards to JP or RJ to Flutie etc. But why fight about Moulds vs Reed vs SJ? Theyre all "good" I wrote the other day that SJ is about the 20th best wr in the league and had people argue he was about 18th to 15th! Its really impossible to argue this exactly since injuries and QB's and systems always play a factor in how a player looked. I try to go with "snapshots" of a player along with stats. For example, I saw Moulds once leap twist and turn in the air and grab a deep TD from RJ vs Miami once that has never left my memory til today. Also his Kick returns that he would catch over his head and not basket like. He also knocked down a hail mary against KC once to ice a game. He also took so many to the house some deep balls and some short RAC type where hed bowl over a guy that I cant remember which were which anymore. So far I don't remember SJ or Even Reed doing so many different things. I admit Reed had more stats but he played longer and with JK. I don't remember Reed catching as many bombs as Moulds though, or doing any defensive or KR type stuff. Moulds out weighed Reed by about 15 lbs but was just as fast. Reed has sweeter RAC moves and I remember many great runs and reverses. Moulds ran reverses also and even took a KR home once too. So far SJ hasn't done much that stands out to me aside from making two nice leaping grabs and his cincy "why so serious " breakout game along with some big drops and penalties and getting caught from behind a lot. His stats are ok. I really hope he turns the corner this year w Kolb and gets a 10 TD year w 1300 yards, some game winners and a deep ball here and there. That would cement him as a top shelf WR like Moulds was...and Reed.

  10. This is exactly the kind of rose colored memory that I am talking about. Moulds was nothing like Stevie as a receiver. Stevie is always open. Moulds got deep because he went deep A LOT. But that part of his game consistently declined each year. And no, he didn't get dealt because he was too big.....he was old and slow. He started having leg problems in 1999 and it slowed him down. Just look at his YPC.

yes moulds was nothing like stevie, he made game winning catches, not drops, he could go deep and underneath, he would catch kickoffs over his head like an outfielder and do kick returns, he would out muscle anyone on the field(, including revis had they played eachother,) had good YPC until 2004, could crack 1200 and even 1300 yards in a season, (not barely get a 1000), he had 20 ypc, 15 ypc and 14 ypg in the same three career yearss that SJ kept getting 13s. So it took 4 years for moulds to "decline" to where SJ is at his best. Also moulds didnt spend his best seasons showboating constantly. You are right, they are absolutely nothing alike aside from the fact that moulds could take a 5 yard slant just as far as stevie.

Why not spend a thread on how stevie is fed 5 yards slants several times a game which boosts his numbers, but cant be relied on to do much past 20 yards? Also mention why you really discount moulds who had every tool in the book but got hurt and then too big. You say old and slow, i say big and slow. Did you see him in texas or tenn? he looked like a TE. Did you know how his leg felt in those last years? How? I know he looked about 220 -230. And who cares if he got old, everyone does, thats not a lack of skill or a determinant of how good someone was. Its how good were they when they were young that counts.

To best summarize SJ vs Moulds Id say this....

Stevie is a lover, not a fighter. Moulds was a lover and a tough mf'er.

  11. He was not a leaper at all. I can remember him getting forced fed a couple of lobs in the end zone and that didn't work out to well. I think the feeling is that since he was big, he was a leaper and that he wasn't.

    .

he was a leaper, he had great hands especially while twisted and airborne and would come down with some circus grabs. He also knocked down a hail mary once as he went over the top of tony gonzalez to win a game for us ( he was on D ).

He did knock down alot of people after the catch and took it to the house. He was "fast" but a 4.5 fast that looked faster because he would just get open deep alot and actually make the catch in stride (no leap required) this was in his first 7 years, not so much in the last 4.

Moulds was the all around best WR weve had in the last 25 years incuding Reed. Its close and Reed was more consistent and has more numbers. but comparing just ability It was actually Reed who wasnt much of a leaper. Moulds was as fast as Reed but a bit stronger and didnt play with super bowl teams and all pro's.

whats funny is moulds was as elusive as stevie, could catch the deep ball like Lee, had muscles, RAC yards and hands like Reed...He had the best of all our favorite receivers in one package....I guess he just got too big, it shocked me when we cut him and made Lee our number 1, they would have been great together had Moulds kept his weight down.

  12. People here still confuse production with talent.

Production depends on the team, QB and the WR's spot on the depth chart.

while SJ had poor QBing he was also the number 1 targeted receiver for the last 3 years so his production is probably equal to what hed get if he were on another team like say the patriots, broncos, falcons etc and sharing balls with another number 1.

No matter what his production is however, no Qb or team will make him run faster or get stronger. How often does he burn someone deep or out muscle someone for a jump ball? Or for that matter, catch a game winner?

weve been arguing for 3 years whether hes even a #1 or # 2. He rides the bubble between both. Even every article that ever rates him puts him between 30-15 best WRs in the league. I say we should all agree hes the 20th best WR in the league...and a number 1....barely.

  13. I think a true number 1 would catch game winning passes...not drop them. saying SJs a number 1 because hes the best the bills have is a flawed argument... it would mean that if calvin Johnson played next to AJ green then one of them would, by default, only be a number 2. Also what if a team had no good WRs? (like the bills) would their top contributor be called a "number 1 " WR and be able to play anywhere in the NFL and still put up big numbers? SJ got 1000 yard seasons because hes all we had. Andre Reed had BB, Lofton, Mkeller, Metzellars, and TT to share balls with. Even Moulds had Price or Evans or Reed and poor QBs or he would have easily got back to back G's. SJ is good and marginally a number 1.... til we have someone better who will take away much of his production.
