Insane amount of QB turnover this season in the NFL
EmotionallyUnstable replied to EasternOHBillsFan's topic in Off the Wall
You could throw Arizona and Kyler in there, as well, due to injury. Plus the Patriots had that little mini coup with Bailey Zappe for a hot minute Also Cowboys with Dak out a number of weeks early in the season -
Week 17: Bills at Bengals on MNF
EmotionallyUnstable replied to Beck Water's topic in The Stadium Wall
Absolutely. Yet the sky will be falling for some. No doubt it is a gigantic game, but those saying “the playoffs start now!” are over inflating. If the Bills lose, they still come back the next week. They still get home field advantage in the wildcard round. They still have a chance. It is not the playoffs, but it would certainly be an amazing position to be in. -
Week 17: Bills at Bengals on MNF

What you say is true, they catch a lot of passes. I don’t necessarily think that means they are better at RB than the Bills. Here are some numbers: Mixon and Perine combined: 120 targets…78% catch rate for 92 grabs for 683 yards … 6 TDs…7.4 ypc Singletary and Cook combined: 81 targets…. 72% catch rate for 58 grabs for 451 yards and 2 TDs….7.7 ypc The backs will be a factor in the passing game for sure, likely for both teams. I just don’t know that the Bengals backs are elite at catching passes and making things happen, and they definitely are not as successful on the ground. As you mentioned their WR room is much more concerning. Like @PatsFanNH mentioned, it is just an opinion, and it is okay that they differ. While some may think their backs will be a problem, I like the match up with our LBs and S…I remain more focused on how the CBs and rest of the secondary will contain the WRs….it’s possible through alignment and scheme, the RBs will have a big day. If I know anything about Fraiser, it’d be that he’s more willing to get beat by dink and dunks than the long ball. -

Week 17: Bills at Bengals on MNF
EmotionallyUnstable replied to Beck Water's topic in The Stadium Wall
Mixon and company have not been good on the ground this year. They are not and have not been as successful on the ground as you might think. The Bills are averaging more yards per game as well and WAY more yards per carry…bengals are actually pretty poor in this area, almost bottom of the league. Yes, there is some QB running factored into this, but it still isn’t equal and definitely not in favor of the Bengals -

No idea. That’s what makes my job easier than theirs. In our role, I get to see what their decisions turned into and pass judgement. We, unlike them, have the benefit of hindsight. They have a much tougher job…that’s why they’re paid so well. Idk about pick 23, but WRs went in the second round that have been impactful (Watson, Pickens, Moore) as well as other offensive players (OL) who likely could have contributed much more this season than Elam has been. They could have also moved up. Signed WRs, traded for one, etc. Its been well documented and discussed that many wish/believe that Beane and company could have and should have done more to help the O (again, we get the benefit of hindsight). I don’t want to derail the thread to discuss draft picks, so I likely shouldn’t have included that last piece into my post related to the Bengals game. -

Cinci is very good against the run (#7 overall, 104 y/g) and even better the last three weeks (#3 overall, 74 y/g)…Bills are still better against the run btw on the season, albeit slightly. Cook and Singletary are both playing well, and have great YPC, I think cook is over 5.0….we’ll see. Dorsey has been more open to the ground game…as well as Allen more open to the check down. One interesting thing about the Bengals defense is that they’re almost bottom of the league in sack percentage. Despite those two really good DEs, they just aren’t getting guys to the ground as often in passing situations as you’d expect. Pair that with allens ability to avoid rushers, and the fact they are bottom of the league in pass yards given up per completion, I fully expect Allen to be able to have his way with their secondary. Wish we had one more receiving option for Allen, instead of a first round CB who barely plays. -
Impossible challenge to win. You can’t see when he went down

Pierce seems like he could be a good player

Do we even care who wins?

So correct me if I’m missing something here…it’s either: A) He suffered a 3rd concussion this season, in the first half, and played the entire rest of the game? Again?! or B) His terrible 2nd half is being explained about by reporting of minor or even false symptoms, in an effort to make his dreadful performance understandable. Either way, this is a TERRIBLE look for the dolphins.

Week 17: Bills at Bengals on MNF

Regarding match ups, one thing I am very concerned over is how our secondary will handle these WRs. Chase and Higgins are a great duo, and they each offer something the other does not. Chase is quick and fast, a great route runner and offers the big play potential with a lot of YAC. After watching speedy WRs running through this defense at times, I will be holding my breath after he catches quick passes because of poor tackling and bad angles. Higgins is tall and lengthy with great hands. He is a down field threat in size and good with contested catches, something the bills this year and in past years have struggled to match up against. Its my guess that you’ll see Fraiser often try and take away Chase with defensive alignment, keeping safety help over the top and in quick windows. Higgins will be tasked with winning his one on ones. Pass rush will be crucial here. Hopefully that DL keeps stepping up making plays with batted balls, and pressures. -
Kick the tires, Beane, amirite?

Good idea on the metal rake. The snow is clumped in ice blocks…wild. -

Not sure where you are. In Clarence, the drifts are making snow blowing impossible… as someone mentioned, we had high lifts down our streets yesterday but nothing since. I’m about 1/3 out of our driveway, and likely through the heaviest and biggest piles. Going back out for another round now. -

My dog got me up to go out at 3:30 in the middle of the night. Idk if it’s the sharp juxtaposition of my cozy bed and house but it is bone chilling cold, with a stinging wind throwing snow all around. Couldn’t get out of the back door due to drifts. This is crazy, when you consider my back door leads to a covered 12x20 deck. This snow is moving big time -

Clear that snow away from the exhaust, as I’m sure you know. In Clarence it’s been non-stop all day, likely as it has been by you. It’s really picked up the last hour. I took my dogs out and in some spots had two feet of snow, while other areas I could still see grass. It’s crazy -

Home Alone for about the 10th time this year… We are big into the YouTube fitness winter chases from brain break central for the little one. Power outage for about a minute in Clarence. Back up and running for now… -

Winds are picking up in the north towns. We battened down the hatches as best we could last night. We’ve got two big trees next door that we are worried about hitting the house, and failed to instal a back up genny or battery powered sump pump back up, so definitely fingers crossed we don’t lose power for an extended time as a flooded finished basement is not a good early holiday gift. othewise, my girls and I aren’t going anywhere or doing anything but keeping warm, and sledding through a variety of holiday movies songs and activities. Actually quite looking forward to it! Stay safe, everyone’
