So does this mean we see more 3-4, will Merriman be situational (like Maybin) or can Merriman adapt to the 4-3 after playing almost nothing but 3-4 through his pro (and college?) career?
I'd say that the .00001 chance is better than if he didn't get the experience of playing here this year and there was a .00000000000000001 chance he came as an FA next season. Plus there's no cap and it's not my money
Why not? Merriman's already been giving him fashion advice.

Not sure. I may be totally off on this one.
Edit: Awlright...went to Wikipedia (FWIW) and here's what they say....
I highlighted the areas where we could possibly get screwed. Looks like it wouldn't be any kind of lock that we'd benefit worth a damn by picking him up.
I would be surprised if the commish isn't already all over this one.
To the other point...the Jets would never allow this to happen if Moss fell to their waiver position.
What if we pick him up and lose him through FA? We could get a mighty nice compensatory pick.
Only downside is if he actually helps us and blows our high draft pick.
It was a stupendously stupid decision on Shanny's part and I wouldn't use it to draw any conclusions as to whether or not he would have been a good fit here or not.
I'm often skeptical of the accuracy of pre-draft scouting reports, but on some of these sites he sounds an awful like Maybin. No idea what Gibson's done w/Pitt up to this point of course.
