I was injecting I-125 labeled protein and tracking signal in different tissues. IV vs. IP vs subQ injections. This was also back in the dark ages where you could iodinate your own proteins/peptides. I think the labeling chemistry was at tyrosine residues if memory serves. After the labeling you had to go get a thyroid scan to make sure no free radioactive iodine made it there. Fun times. Years later I worked on developing a chemiluminescent assay that used the luciferin/luciferase chemistry.
