1. The Big East is so bad, a team coming off of a loss to the powerhouse that is South Florida is a 10-point favorite over potential champion, formidable Rutgers University.  And the line opened at 7.  I guess the entire gambling public also thinks Rutgers sucks.  A BCS berth on the line and the public perception is that they're going to lose by at least 11.

Cue:  Ed telling us that Slaton is fast, but Rutgers' defense is faster.

Well, considering Pat White is hurt, Rutgers has an excellent chance of winning.

RU I think is 0-14 at WVU, so I think that's where the point spread is coming from.

The weather is going to be cold, with snow likely. That will only help RU.

I've said from the beginning:RU matches up better to WVU than they did UL. Rutgers has the speed to contain Slaton.

  2. Thanks for the headwear suggestion, but I think I've got a couple old National Champions hats kickin' around here somewhere.

    :P

    Carry on...

Hmmm, I wonder if my Uncle can dust off his old Jets Superbowl hat also...

Must be nice to live is the past!!!:nana:

  3. Jack Arute of Rivals Radio labeled the Miami and Alabama HC jobs as "coach killers", says he thinks that both schools are going to be surprised at how they get turned down by their 'A' list coaches.

Of most interest, he basically said that Schiano would have to be nuts to go to Miami, leaving a Rutgers program that he built from the ground up but still has room to soar from here. He mentioned that Greg will already earn over $1 mil this year with incentives, and being the only Div1A school in NJ and NY area basically the sky is the limit with both recruiting and fan support, but especially the media coverage. Also of significance, he thinks that Schiano will be able to use his FL football camps to take advantage of the instability at Miami and bring better FL athletes north to NJ than ever before. He basically said that RU has a better upside and less downside than Miami, and that Greg is smart enough to realize it (that we knew!).

On 'Bama, he labeled them an SEC also ran, and said that their proud tradition is lost on most recruits these days, since they haven't been good for several years now. He thinks that they will have to settle for some OC or DC who will just wind up being fired like Shula in a few years because difficulty recruiting and level of competition in SEC, along with unrealistic expectations of the Tide fan base, will exact its toll.

  4. She said current big east team.

And exactly - her argument is that the BE has a bunch of new teams - thats EXACTLY why they aren't a top conference now.  Thats her WHOLE freakin' point.

Didn't I say, "and yes, I know the left?" Did you fail the English section on your prerequisite test?

Wow, so if Texas, USC, ND, and Ohio St. joined up a new conference, they wouldn't be a top conference, because they were new?! :nana::lol::P

What is the requirement to get into Texas again?

  6. Because that's the way it works. Build up your resume at a mid-major, then work your way up the food chain. Need proof? All right, name the last time a current Big East football team played in a national championship game.

    ...waiting...

Miami (and yes, I know they left).

Your argument holds no weight, because they BE has a bunch of new teams.

It must suck to be a bitter Penn St. fan! :nana::lol::P

Maybe you should wear one of these...

  7.  :nana:

We have the winningest coach of the last 10 years, young talent, and a better recruiting class coming in.

Who has the better record, and is ranked higher? Oh yeah, RUTGERS! :P

    Draft one of our lineman

    and you are gonna mourn

    we are the mighty longhooooooooooooooooooooooooorns

  8. (Two can play the edit game)

What did they pay for?  Tickets?  Airfare, hotel?  Everything?  Anyways, pretty cool move.

I'm surprised the NCAA didn't send in their death squad and find something wrong with boosters paying students way to the game, and force Rutgers to forfeit.

    852242

From what I recall, the money was donated to the University, and the University then gave discounted packages.

It was fairly cheap, and they got permission before doing anything.

  9. Didn't Rutgers pay for a bunch of students to fly to wherever they played the Insight Bowl last year?

I thought that was a pretty cool move.

    852222

The boosters donated a bunch of money for the students, and for alumni to go.

  10. You keep posting this, but it doesn't change anything.

I wouldn't leave for Miami if I was Schiano either.  If I stay at RU I could get a much, much better gig.

    852187

Haha, why doesn't it change anything? Miami was much better off then.

Maybe he can go to your three loss team. I'm sure he could improve those mighty mighty Longhoooooooooooooorns.
