  1. Why you ask people to watch anything in the way you liked, I'm think as much as you, but also let people enjoy Bills games the way they liked.

And your point about player's development is silly, every player has his time and ways to make it, the  way they take Allen was the right way for Allen  and for everyone in the team, especially Daboll who also growth with Allen

My metrics are players with quality resumes!

😆😆😆Lawson? who played his best in contract year, Lotulelei? who  most people here already want him out Phillips? that most of his sacks were products of the pressure of the rest of the line, and people forgive him the amount of penalties he caused (and don't do the same with Hughes)

The outcome of this DL is determined by team play and not for individuals goals

Tried to post this in the thread about the Bills winning the division but it was closed. I think that it works here too.

Not winning the division will be a manor disappointment to me. I don’t see another .500 team in the division. The Bills will have to regress (or battle injuries) to not win it IMO.

Let’s assume that they do stay healthy though. There are only a couple of things that could go wrong if that’s the case: Allen, OL, pass rush.

Let’s start with the pass rush. The Bills got pass rush last year from Shaq and Phillips. They do not have an elite edge rusher. Both Hughes and Addison are a year older and Epenesa may not have the feet. Murphy is constantly dinged and in his last year. It is possible that the Bills don’t get enough pressure (specifically from the edge). If that’s the case QBs will have time to find openings against the Bills bend but don’t break defense. The Bills could quickly become an average unit if that’s the case. They’d probably have to address it in the first round. Miami’s Gregor Rousseau would be the obvious target if you are bad enough. He may even warrant a trade up. The Bills need more athleticism on the EDGE whether they win the division or not.

The right side of the OL could be the other area of concern. It was a weakness last year. Is Ford a guard? Tackle? Backup? What about Nsekhe & Williams? Too old? You see where I’m going with this. There are still questions there. Josh wants to roll right to make plays. That’s where he has the option to take off or go up top. The whole field is in front of him rolling that way. If they continue to collapse that side it will limit Josh’s playmaking ability. Maybe someone like Alex Leatherwood who has been the RT at Alabama? He’s played against that elite SEC speed on the edge. He’s blocked for a lefty and a righty. He just feels like a guy that could come in week 1 and help you.

Lastly it would mean that Josh stopped progressing. If that’s the case I do not think that the Bills draft his replacement. Their window is open now. If Allen isn’t the guy I think that the Bills make a move for Matt Stafford. Detroit is forever Detroit. They may believe that it’s best to start over. The Bills send a couple of 1sts to the Lions and get 5-8 years of Stafford. This gives them the chance to win immediately.

I don’t see anything else that can prevent the Bills from winning the division (if healthy). This team is too deep and too talented to finish anywhere but 1st in the AFC East. The rest of the division is bad. It is improving but the lack of the offseason will hurt those other teams early in the year. I expect the Bills to win the division by 2+ games. Let’s enjoy it!!

Even with injuries or a regression from a unit, this team should be  a contender to win the division based on coaching, if McDermott isn't the right coach then what decision should be taken or which way to go

I have to admit I am a little skeptical that McD has addressed the O enough to keep up with KC , RAVENS, and even the Titans who also got aggressive with their D by adding  Clowney.  New O additions of Diggs , and three rookies ( Moss, Davis, Gilliam ) , with a tight end room with Knox being the only one with much upside and an o line basically unchanged,   does not show a great deal of change that will guarantee , IMHO, a vastly improved offense  that can score more than 19 points a game.   McD , who has had great success with his D, continued to bring in more support with adding several proven defensive veterans and even opted to take Epenesa when JK Dobbins had fallen into our lap (a 2000 yard proven rusher from a major conference who was immediately nabbed by the Ravens to bolster their already impressive rushing attack),  appears to keep his emphasis on defense even after we are seeing the leagues more successful franchises featuring very productive offenses.   We can’t ignore KC’s ability to score and they added even more fire power to their O.  The road to the SB will most likely go thru KC or Baltimore for the AFC teams as I see the Bills as a 10/11 win team given the schedule.  We still have zero playoff wins with McD ( love the guy and love his culture, but he needs improvement as losing a 16 point lead in the wild card game reflects on a need for game management improvement ), and I am not sure just adding Diggs and three rookies ( 4 if we include Bass) in a COVID shortened season translates to more offensive success on the road against already proven offensive juggernaut franchises.   We did also lose to Baltimore at home last year so we can’t just downplay them either as I routinely see little mention of them as a team we might  have to go thru to get to the SB.

So, did we do enough on O?  Not sure until we see if Allen can progress as I am hoping he does , and I also have to see if Daboll can use Diggs and Moss creatively  in a way that matches all the preseason hype. So far McD continues to be very aggressive with addressing his D, but I am not sure he has done enough to get the offense up around 24/25 points a game where we can actually be a bona fide Super Bowl contender. Peter King suggesting the fins take the division is ludicrous, but we are not locks to knock off KC, TITANS , RAVENS , and the SB is really the ultimate goal.  It’s about to get real!

You nailed in several points, but also,in an attempt to validate your points, you forget to summon an offensive line that returns intact(practically), that's an advantage over other teams in a weird (pre)season

  5. For two months I've compared him to Justin Smith, former Missouri, Cincinnati  and SF player. (4th. - 5th. overall for Bengals)

Solid, unspectacular (for casual fans) player, but with all you need to a long, productive carrer in NFL. High motor, great teammate (some level of leadership), versatility along the line, simply  is the player who makes the job for others to shine.
