  1. QB - 7, Fitz will never be Tom Brady but is definitely a starter in the league. Need a developmental backup that could replace Fitz in 3 years.

RB - 2, would be 0 if we had a true power back for goal line situations, and a late round FB wouldn't hurt

WR - 9, Outside of Stevie and Nelson Buffalo has nothing. Dire need of a #2. Would be 10 if Stevie and Nelson weren't as good as they were

TE - 4, Chandler is good, hopefully he turns into the player he looked like in camp last year. I expect a late round pick on TE

T - 8, Pears is great, we don't give enough credit to Hairston. A 4th round rookie looked pretty damn good last year, hope he proves it this year if we don't go OT at 10

OG/C - 2, position strength. Would be 0 if Wood didn't get hurt every year.

DT - 1, Best position on the team. 2 pro bowl starters, 2nd round pick as a backup and quality depth in Spencer Johnson and Kellen Heard

DE - 5, Mario Williams and Anderson put this from 10 to 5. No need for a top draft pick but I don't expect Kelsay and Merriman to be around forever so someone for the future should be looked at in mid rounds.

OLB - 8, Barnett is rock solid but aging. Morrison looks good on paper but barely played last year. No depth so will be addressed x2 in draft. (Expect Bryan Scott here on 3rd downs)

MLB - 4, Sheppard is fine. Hopefully he takes the next step. McKillop is a big question mark, however

CB - 7, I don't think this is as big of a need as most of you do. Williams is going to be great, and we can deal with McGee, Florence, and Leodis on the other side for the time being. Rogers was great as a #3. No need to reach on CB early, 3-5 round.

S - 3, Not a need position at all. Wilson and Scott only have a few years left so depth + Searcy development will be key

K - 4 - Lindell is consistently good. Never going to hit long but is very accurate.

P - 6 - Moorman sucked last year. Give him the benefit of the doubt for this year as he has been great for us. Always a bright spot on bad teams in the past.

I think I agree almost 100%. Though I would like to see us add an early OLB or CB, WR in second, and a QB in the third (preferably Osweiller as a project guy)

  2. Nothing earth shattering here. No great intellectual insights here. I'm just an old upper low class/lower middle class fan who, like many here, agonize over the ups and downs of this franchise for years (decades for me) now. I'll tell you what I find unexpectedly running thru my mind lately, and please if anyone else would like to add to it then be my guest.

First off, I like George Wilson.........a lot! I like the way he plays, I like his attitude and most of all I like the way his story, the way he went undrafted as a WR and now he's our starting SS and a darn good one at that!

I like our players, I think all of them. I can't think of one player on our team that I don't like. I like that we drafted Marcel Dareus. The guy is a beast and I hope that he plays his whole career for us. I think that he's just a good, hard working individual who, like many other players on our team, is and will be fiercely loyal to us and our community. I haven't seen any hints or traces of character issues with him on or off the field so far. Not to be judgemental or to negatively convict either of Detroit's DTs Suh and Fairly but as a fan I'd have to say that I would be pretty disappointed if Dareus was caught stomping on a guy' s face after a play was over or was failing a drug test.

I really dig the team chemistry. I think that these players for the most part really like being teammates and in my opinion that's huge. I think that Mr. Wilson really hit a homerun when he hired Buddy Nix & Co. And before I forget I think that Russ Brandon doesn't get enough credit or appreciation. I'm proud that he's a part of our organization and more importantly, I think that he is too. I heard him in an interview a few weeks ago. When he was asked about how and what he does and tells prospective free agents about playing for Buffalo and the community it will almost downright choke you up. I like that, I like that a lot!

I'm not on the payroll and I'm not being delusional looking thru rose colored glasses. I'm just an ordinary blue collar guy who has had a long love affair with his football team that has been mightily struggling for YEARS and these are just a few things that I've been noticing and/or realizing as of lately. Actually I could go on with more but I'm sure that some of you are going to find this post drippy enough but I sincerely mean what I said and I'm sure that I got my point across. Matter of fact I can sum it up with this. "It feels good to be a Bills' fan again!".

    Go Bills!

I'm not trying to be negative, because you were right about some things about this team, but this very attitude is a problem sometimes with Buffalo sports. Bill Belichick said it best, "You cannot fall in love with players," and I think Buffalo fans do this alot. I believe it happens more in hockey than in football, but Buffalo fans seem to want to keep hometown guys and 3rd string guys around because of their interaction with the community or their tenure with the team. Sometimes those guys need to go!! Guys on the Bills like Jasper or someone like that, and Sabres players like Roy, Kaletta, Gaustad (finally gone), and even Ruff just don't belong on the roster/staff. We absolutely robbed Nashville for the 1st rounder we got for Goose, and he has like 4 pts since he's left (last I checked). Ruff seems like a great coach now, but I'm tired of barely making 8th place and then losing in the 1st round every year. So like I said, I do think you make some good points, but Buffalo fans have a tendency to fall in love with players, and that is not a good thing if you want to build a winner!!

  3. I voted Gilmore, and I think it's either him or Keuchly. I don't think Chan or Nix want any bad character guys, so that crosses off Kirkpatrick. I think Reiff is an NFL RT, Kendall Wright and Martin too high of a pick (because I believe that the only OT worth a top ten pick is Kalil), we don't need a Guard in Decastro, and we took care of our DE's in free agency. So I think, logically, it's either Keuchly or Gilmore, and I give the edge to Gilmore.

  4. He's SUPER raw and inexperienced, but Osweiler has all the tools to one day be a decent NFL QB...Thing is, it's going to take a lot of work, and there are HUGE concerns about his feel for the Game...Some Scouts question not only his knowledge of Defenses and how to properly read them, but also his knowledge of his own Offense at times...He's going to be over-drafted...You can mark it down right now..Not to say that he wont be a good NFL QB one day...But he should not go higher than the 4th Round based on who he is and what he has shown thus-far...Ryan Mallett was light years ahead of Osweiler coming into the NFL and he went in the 3rd...Admittedly Osweiler is a MUCH better athlete than Mallett..But Mallett had the better arm, could read Defenses better, was more accurate, and had a master grip on the Arkansas Offense...

It should be interested to see where Osweiler lands in this Draft...I saw McShay had him Top 30 or so...That is one clueless Scout! B-)

You're mostly right, but the reason Mallett dropped into the third round is because he was extremely immature. He had trouble with alcohol in college, and even missed a visit with the Panthers because he was reportedly hung over from partying the night before.

  5. I seen that we have a pre draft visit with Osweiler. I've been looking at some youtube video of him and i'm not understanding how this guy is even gonna be drafted at all. Almost 90% of his throws seem to be little dump passes at the line of scrimmage and when he does throw it upfield it seems like he doesn't have enough velocity on it and almost gets picked a lot. I'm afraid were gonna pick this guy and it's gonna be well before he's even supposed to be drafted. I'm just not understanding what some of these critics see in him.

Osweiler is a prospect that is not expected to start right away. He's coming out early, as a Junior, and is projected as a guy that will be a very good NFL QB after sitting and learning for a couple of seasons. I strongly disagree with you in respect to his arm strength, because he is considered to have one of the strongest arms in this draft. The reason some of his passes get tipped is because he likes to thread the needle, because of his arm strength, but he also completes a good number of them; a good example of these completions are his TD passes against Mizzou (first TD pass) and Utah (quick pass across the middle). I would love for him to be a Buffalo Bill. Hope you "get" Brock Osweiler now...

  6. Round One: Luke Keuchly LB Boston College

(ALT: Johnathan Martin OT Stanford, Stephon Gilmore CB South Carolina)

Round Two: Brock Osweiler QB ASU

(No ALT, don't think we pass this kid up. Great upside, and time to learn behind Fitz for a few seasons)

Round Three: Brandon Boykin CB UGA

Round Four(A): Orson Charles TE UGA

Round Four(B): Ty Hilton WR FIU

    5-7, anything can happen.

  7. I have watched a lot of film on this guy the past few weeks, and I like what I saw. The offense he ran at ASU is very similar, in my opinion, to what Chan does here in Buffalo. He looks very raw, since he is coming out as a Junior, but I think the sky is the limit for this guy. Sitting behind Fitz for a couple of seasons and working with David Lee may be exactly what he needs to master his craft. Just wanted to see what everyone else's opinion of him is. He also held his own pro day this morning, after missing his school's initial pro day and the combine with a sprain in his foot. Some of the so-called experts see him jumping into the second round, with McShay (genius, I know) even predicting Buffalo to take him at 41. Opinions?
