  1. The only thing that will motivate these players to actually try in the Pro Bowl is money. How about the winning team gets their flight home paid for, the losing team doesn’t? The Pro Bowl should also be played after the Super Bowl again too. Typically, each team in the Super Bowl has quite a few players voted to the Pro Bowl and they should still get the reward of the trip to Hawaii. Plus, that would get rid of what, 10-15 of the alternates that only get in because a guy who plays their position made it to the SB.

I agree with bringing back the skills competition. How many years in a row did Darrell Green win the fastest man competition back in the day? I doubt they bring back the flag football game though after that Pats* RB…I think his name was Robert Edwards…tore up his knee and basically ended his career, although that was on the beach.

  2. Just wondering if with all the technology now a days and the ability to write programs and develop customized programs if anyone knows if the defensive Corr. for example can just type in his Ipad or laptop that it's 3rd down and 5 on the 45 yard line, and he'd like to blitz if he can do something like that and maybe 4 or 5 different plays come up and he chooses one. Seems like a quicker way to find plays.. Do NFL teams do this already does anyone know.?

I would suspect that very few if any coaches would rely on something like that on game day. What happens if the device crashes, batteries go dead, it gets wet, it freezes up or any of the other things that could go wrong with an electronic device on game day? The coach would be screwed. Those color coded sheets they’ve been using for awhile have all the scenarios you mentioned already listed for them and they can easily write notes on it if that play doesn’t work.

  4. You are correct sir that was only for the basic package. However with that being said I have 3 tvs down in the basement so I usually don't use all that extra stuff. At least I have not in the past. I pretty much plan my Sundays around football which is to say I am down in my basement with a case of beer & usually stay down there from noon to 8 or 9 at night doing nothing but watching football. Yeah Yeah I know some people call it a waste of day, I like to call it living the high life.

    Couldn't agree more!!

  5. Wasnt it tally who whiffed on the tackle ?

Talley, Kelso and a bunch of others as well. That was the play of the game. That and Marv wasting valuable seconds toward the end before calling a time out. I love Marv (the coach) but he #@%!ed that one up. :wallbash:

  6. I like DirecTV also but be aware the $199 fee does not include the 30 minutes shorts replays and The Red Zone Channel which I believe is the best channel ever created.

So they cutout the redzone channel with this new discounted price?? I knew there had to be a catch. It might be worth making the phone call to see about getting the Max package for the regular package price. I really enjoy the redzone channel during commercials or halftime of the game I’m watching but can’t justify paying an extra $100 for it.

I’ve had DTV since 2004 and have been for the most part happy with it. Some of the installers are very knowledgeable but some are complete idiots so you have to keep an eye on them as they’re working to be sure they don’t drill a hole someplace that you don’t want them to. Getting the package is the only reason I started with them. I figured that my wife and I easily spent $50/week at the bar on beer and food while watching the games. After spending about $800/year, it made getting the package look like a steal.

Another poster mentioned losing the signal, which is always a possibility with a dish when it storms. Mine doesn’t go out very often but I’ve found that when it does, the HD signal will go out before the non-HD signal does, if the non-HD signal goes out at all. To me, it’s been worth it to keep the old non-HD TV and box in our bedroom rather than upgrading so when the HD in my living room is out, I can just go upstairs and continue watching. I can really only remember a few times that I’ve lost the signal on a non-HD TV. I live in SC so I don’t have to really worry about snow.

  7. Miami is our biggest rival even though it has died down in recent years due to both teams basically sucking. The Pats* haven’t been much of a rivalry but more of a one sided domination as of late, which I hope is finally over. We never considered them a rival when we were good and they weren’t, at least I didn’t, so why start now. Once Brady retires or preferably Mario turns him into a pretzel ending his career that talk will die down. Once both the Bills and Miami get things back on track, that rivalry will heat right back up again. Maybe we can speed it up…someone on this board has got to live near or travel to Miami…go find one of the Dolphin players and slip him a couple bucks or do what you’ve got to do to get that player to give the ole double finger salute coming out of the tunnel this year.

I don’t know that I could buy a mini helmet for one of our division rivals unless I planned to buy one for all 32 teams and then put whoever we’re playing on display as the latest rival. Just get the full size Bills helmet so we’ll always dwarf that team.

  8. I read this story yesterday and went through a gamete of emotions...First I was pissed at the situation, then sad for him, then utterly disgusted by that POS "woman." Finally, I came to the conclusion that...ready for this "original" thought...our justice system in this country is broken. I mean, the attorney for this kid, knowing he was innocent, advised him to plead "no contest" and take a chance at a reduced term. That just doesn't sit right with me. I could go on for pages & pages, but I had to say something as the people (woman at work) I shared this with didn't really seem to "get it." I don't enen know this kid and my heart broke for him!

From what I heard, there was absolutely no evidence (because there was no crime) it was a he said, she said. She made the story up because her parents were mad at her for being late or something stupid like that and then never came clean because of the settlement her family got. Apparently his lawyer told him something along these lines: “You’re a big, black kid…you can go to trial in front of a jury and face 40 to life or plead no contest and only do a few years.” What a decision for a 16 year old to be faced with!!! I couldn’t even imagine.

  9. I saw this on the Today show this morning too. Unbelievable!!! That woman absolutely needs to go to jail and pay Mr. Banks restitution. Her family got $1.5 mil and he lost out on the opportunity to make 20 times that and get a free college education. Chances of him making it in the NFL are slim to none at this point. Maybe he could go to the CFL or the Arena League. I doubt it would happen but it would be nice if USC would still honor that scholarship they offered him 10 years ago. He still has the eligibility to play. At least then he could still live part of his dream if the Chargers don’t call.

  10. I like the IR change. Maybe other teams do it too but it seems like the Bills would IR a guy for a minor injury that would only keep them out a few weeks just to open the roster spot. Troy Vincent and Kawika Mitchell are 2 names that come to mind. We ended up having to cut both of them because they were healed and ready to play before the end of the regular season. With this rule change we would not have had to do that. I wonder if the NFL would ever take it a step further and make it a little more like baseball. Something along the lines of having a 4 game DL, an 8 game DL, & season ending.

Quentin Jammer from the Charges has already come out and said he’ll take the fines before wearing the knee/thigh pads. Not sure what the big deal is. I know you may lose a tiny bit of speed with knee pads but it would be an equal playing field if everyone has to wear them and with technology today, they’d probably barely notice them. They wouldn’t be the thicker ones that most of us wore when we played. It would bring back some of that old school football player look. I do not think this will have any impact on concussions though. A knee to the side of the head will still have just about the same impact to the brain regardless of that thin little piece of padding.

  11. Actually, as a grey head, I can remember one other Bills CB who was worse, almost like McKelvin. James Williams, in the 80's was a specimen, could run like the wind, and couldn't play football at all. Leodis is much better, but the comparison of not making a play on the ball is identical. Anybody else out there remember this?

Unfortunately, I do remember JD Williams and am reminded of how bad he was every time I see highlights from that first Super Bowl loss to the Cowboys. He’s the guy Michael Irvin beats for those TDs. They show that replay over and over again; Irvin makes the catch on the sideline then turns up into the end zone while JD helplessly watches and then they show Aikman with 1 finger in the air. I think most of us also had 1 finger in the air at about the same time but doubt it was the same finger. Ugh, that guy was terrible!!! Much worse than McLovin. If a coach can teach him a little bit of ball skills, he won’t be half bad because he always seems to be right there but just doesn’t make the play. That Raiders rookie torched him last year when he was in good position to make a play. I wonder how much of ball skills can be taught and how much is just instincts.

I do remember Chris Watson as well but don’t really remember him playing CB all that much. I mostly remember him as the worst punt returner ever…or I should say worst “punt catcher” ever since that’s what Wade referred to him as. He averaged about 5 yards/return if I remember correctly.

  12. That and they aren't going to start printing #94 jerseys and then bone everyone who bought one 3 months later.

They could if Mario really wanted #90 but he would have to pay for all of the old jerseys already on the rack. Adrian Peterson wanted to change his number to 23 for this upcoming season but it would have cost him about a million dollars to buy out all the old jerseys so he decided not to. Glad Mario finally picked a number.

  13. Apparently the Bucs are working out Dallas Clark and are actively seeking a trade partner for Winslow Jr.

Would you like to see him in a Bills uni?

(No link yet, but reported on 640 am Sports in South Florida.)

Pass. He’s never been the same since that motorcycle “accident.” For those that don’t remember, this is the guy that busted himself up and almost ended his career trying to do wheelies and other tricks in a parking lot when he apparently was barely experienced enough to just ride the thing.

  14. I’ve got to give the slight nod to White due to age and versatility. Choice is average at best and we pretty much know what we’ll get from him, which is not much. Don’t ask him to catch the ball at all. While White is a bit more of an unknown, I’d like to see what he can do with a full off season and a year to adjust to the speed of the pro game…give him some time to get comfortable. I believe that while at UNC White returned kicks/punts and played some receiver in addition to playing RB so he is much more versatile than Choice. I also think that if we cut Choice at the end of camp, there’s a better chance that no one will pick him up and he would still be available for us to re-sign if we needed to. Keep in mind that he did play for 3 teams last year.

  15. I guess the Jets and the Bills is the two big winners in the offseason so far but it is funny that you guys got a little itchy and let the Jets out smart them again.

Don't get me wrong, I think this Williams guy you got is pretty good and can take care of business when it comes to knocking Marcia Brady around. But he is a little spindly and the Jets have now countered that with Tebow. It is going to be fun watching Tebow plow over Williams and that other reject you guys just got too. It will remind me of what I do if someone owes some money and decides to get uppity when I have a talk with him. He might try to come at me. He also might end up in the next apartment even though there wasn't a door there.

I got no hard feelings though. I think the Bills will do good most of the year. I was just checking in to see how nervous you guys are now that we got the most famous player in football. Seems like you're plenty nervous with all the racket you are making.

    P.S. J-E-T-S Jets JEts JETS.

Apparently you didn’t see Tebow’s first attempt against Buffalo last year. He did great, Bills nation should be worried. Was that 4 INTs, 2 of which were returned for TDs by our now backup defensive lineman? Move over Joe, it’s Broadway Timmy time!

  16. Your post definitely put Carolina on my check list of places to go.

Excellent!!! Too bad it’ll be like 5-6 years before the Bills will be back in town.

I’ll share another great experience I’ve had at Panther’s stadium aka Bank of America Stadium. In 2004 they played the Giants in the preseason and I got some free tickets. By the 4th quarter, the stadium was basically empty so we went down and sat in the 1st row behind the Panthers bench. My buddy and I were a little rowdy and were chatting up some of the players and sideline reporter Pam Oliver to try and get some gear/mementos from them. The people behind us who actually paid for their seats were getting annoyed and telling us no one will give us anything, to go back to our seats, etc. With about a minute left in the game, their punter Todd Sauerbraun was kicking a few balls into the net by us and he started chatting with us. We asked him how far he could kick the ball and he replied by asking us if we thought it would be funny if he blasted the ball into the stands. I quickly replied blast the ball into the stands right here. That was right as the game ended. He laughed, tossed the ball to me and jogged off the field. I’ll never forget the looks on the faces of those people behind us…utter shock. My buddy gave them a thumbs down and wagged his tongue :nana: at them as we left.

I got married 10 days later in Orchard Park and we got our wedding pictures taken on the field at the Ralph (how cool is my wife to agree to that?!?!?!?!). Of course that ball is right there in all the group shots.

  17. Besides the Ralph, I’ve been to games in Carolina and Jacksonville. Both had a completely different vibe than in Buffalo for sure. In Jax, the game I went to was a Thursday night back in maybe 2002…the year we went 3-13. Tailgating was average but that may have had to do with a weeknight game. The stadium was decent. Not trying to offend anyone but Jags fans are a joke. I spent much of the game making fun of their players and the Jags fans were laughing at my jokes and agreeing with me. Not one person told me to shut up or made fun of me or any of the Bills players. With about 2 minutes left in the game and the score tied at 10, just about every Jags fan got up and left to beat the traffic. By the time the Bills kicked the game winning field goal, they were all gone. Overall, I had a blast. It was a very family friendly environment and I would go back.

The game in Carolina was just a few years ago; when TO was with the Bills. Tailgating was a blast because it felt like it was almost all Bills fans. (I think half of Buffalo moved to Charlotte, myself included) I’ve been to a few other Panthers games against other teams and tailgating was kind of lame. The stadium is really nice and all seats have a good view. Parking is really spread out.

My experiences at these 2 stadiums are probably a lot different than most others would be since both of these teams are still relatively new and don’t really have that established of a fan base.

I still have the dream to one day go see the Bills play at Lambeau…that has got to be one of the ultimate NFL experiences. Anyone ever been there?

  18. The Bills must play to the strengths of this draft and that is anchored by DT's and CB's defensively, and WR's on the offensive side of the ball. I'd say a player who would merit strong consideration in round one is Fletcher Cox out of Mississippi State, a load at DT. The second round should be CB help like Dwight Bentley or Alfonzo Dennard. The third could be a WR, as a group of them are slated to go there. Deep positional picks will help insure that good players fill out what could shape up as a fairly deep roster in July's camp!! GO BILLS!!!!

I have to respectfully disagree with you on a DT at #10, regardless of who it is. The other 2 positions you mention are just fine by me. DT is one of our deepest positions so I think taking one that high is a mistake. Kyle & MD start w/ Spencer Johnson, Troup and Heard competing for the 2 backup spots. Troup was a looking like a force last year before the back issues ended his season before it even started and many people in these chat rooms don’t give Spencer enough credit. He is a solid DT and provides great depth. Draft one of the offensive tackles available at #10 unless there is a WR still available that is worthy of that pick, which IMO Blackmon is the only one and he’ll be gone. I wouldn’t mind trading back into the 1st round to take Floyd or Jeffrey but I think that will end up costing too much. If the WR depth is as good as it sounds, then we should be able to get a few decent WRs later in the draft.
