  1. Your 3-13 stat is a bit off, but the idea of the post isn't.

Having said that, I suppose I'm in the minority who still thinks Chan is a decent coach. He puts players in a position to be successful, at least on the offensive side. He just needs a QB. And that's on Nix, not Gailey.

    Good catch...he's actually 4-12.

I think a lot of us still think Chan is a decent coach but some, myself included, are starting to question whether or not he’s a decent head coach. A decent head coach needs to be involved with every aspect of the team and I don’t get the feeling that Chan has anything to do with the defense or ST.

  2. Unless something amazing happens and the Bills magically turn this season around, 2012 will end like all the other seasons since the Millenium, in disappointment and disarray. Actually, it might be even worse this next off season because expectations were so high for this team.

So here's something else to worry about: The Bills have a number of talented players nearing the end of their contracts. I expect most of them will get serious offers from other teams. Now ask yourself, if you were one of those players and you had the chance to go to another team, would you do it? What about the Bills situation would make you want to stay with this mess?

To be part of the Bills team that turns this franchise around and finally wins the Super Bowl!!!!!!!

  3. Just because Fitz is playing terrible and Wanny doesn’t seem to have a clue, it doesn’t take any blame away from Chan. I like Chan too but he took over a bad team and made it worse. The HC is responsible for all aspects; offense, defense and ST but Chan only seems to get involved in the offense. It appears that he gives Wanny total control of the defense and Dehaven total control of the special teams. It’s Chan who hired George Edwards and requested/allowed the switch to the 3-4 which set us a few years back personnel wise now that we’ve already switched back to the 4-3. It was Chan that promoted Wanny to DC even though he appeared to have no idea how to fix the terrible defense last year. He decided Fitz was his guy ignoring his shortcomings that were obvious to many on TSW. He continues to run 5 wide sets and throws the ball all over the field when our RBs not our QB/WRs are the strength of the offense. The capper to me is this team seems to quit or get down on themselves too often and Chan has no clue how to get them out of the funk. There have been too many stretches of lopsided losses where the team just has no spark. 0-8 to start 2010. 7 straight losses last season. 2 straight blowouts this season.

If Chan can’t get this team turned around and playing some inspired football, he’s gone and we start the 3 years rebuilding process all over. Maybe we can find that up and coming assistant coach. Hopefully we can at least get someone that is in the NFL.

  4. We need someone since we only have 3 healthy DEs and 3 healthy DTs right now. If that’s all we have this weekend, our D-line will be dead tired by the end of the game. At the very least, I think Merriman would light a fire under this team.

But who do we cut to make room? It’s not like we have 4 QBs, a kickoff Specialist or 4 RBs on this roster. Oh wait…

  5. I has been scratching my head wondering why Jackson is not even dressing. Let him at least get on the sideline and get into the flow of the game, listen to the radio traffic between Gailey and Fitz and so on, Hell, even let him do the kneel down at the end instead of Thigpen just to at least get a live snap or two. Come on Chan, use your head. If T-Jack is not going to get practice reps and not even going to dress for the games, WTF is he on the team for.

Part of the reason he has not been dressing on Sunday’s is because if he’s active for a certain number of games (I believe it’s 6) then we’ll owe Seattle a 6th rounder rather than a 7th. To us, the difference between the 2 picks is marginal but to the front office, it’s big. Definitely not worth it to just let him run a few gimmick plays.

  6. I voted yes because so far this season it seems like the players go into a shell when adversity hits, which I didn’t see last season and to me, a lot of that has to do with the coaches. The beginning of last season, we fell behind in a few games and the players never seemed to quit. We’ve had 2 division games so far this season that we fell way behind in. Against the Jets, there was no sense of urgency from the players to try and mount a comeback until it was too late. Even my wife commented in the 3rd quarter that they were just taking their time and looked like they’d already given up. Against the *Pats* you could see it in the players demeanor that they had given up once we fell behind 28-21…especially the defense. We had no answers and the players looked lost most of the time. There was no fight left in them, you could see that “here we go again” look on their faces…which is a huge reason why Marsha just drove them down the field with no problem again and again.

The players have to have confidence in the coaches/schemes. Last season, the players looked like they had that confidence but IMO it has been wavering this season. If the players are losing the confidence in the staff to get them in the right situation, then the staff is losing the team. If part of the staff is losing the team, Chan is losing the team.

I am not jumping off the cliff and am not near the edge. I am however starting to wonder if Chan can handle being both the HC and OC. Let’s see how the players react this weekend if we fall behind by a few scores.

  7. Good analysis R. Rich, thanks for spending the time to post this.

That high hit to Chandler after the INT you mentioned was dirty…plain and simple. Spikes left his feet to deliver a hit to Chandler’s head. It didn’t look like Chandler ducked down at the last minute or anything like that. It looked to me like the guy went headhunting. I can’t believe the refs did not see that and Spikes better get a hefty fine and possibly a suspension. No place in football for a hit like that. I hope Chandler is ok.

  8. Can someone, anyone explain or give some information on how this guy got to be a headcoach, a headcoach that an orginaztion gave up draft picks for, and now is a commentator for ESPN??? How does he interview for a job and someone come out of that interview sayign this is our guy to lead our football team? This is the guy on want on camera representing our brand name.

It has to be naked pics of someone..has to be...

    because "you play...to win...the game!!!!"

  9. He wasn't cut, he was a free agent, and opted to go to San Fran.

Technically we designated him for Plan B (which to TSW youngsters was an early form of free agency that was only around a few years in the early 80s, late 90s before being deemed to violate antitrust laws and abolished). It’s not too much different than him being cut. The Bills basically told him his services were no longer needed and he was free to sign with any other team. That was when teams basically owned the players rights regardless of contract status. The Bills could have kept him if they wanted to.

  10. Roosevelt...Aiken...neither of these guys caught on anywhere else. Aiken showed, albeit preseason 2years ago, an ability to get open and get YAC. Roosevelt also looked like a gamer last year. Obviously we don't know squat, but why not give one of these guys a shot rather than bringing in a sub-par vet or a guy that got cut from the Rams...however, Alexander is a prototypical Channix WR and he's young and fast with some upside.

    Aiken's on the practice Squad.

  11. As other posters have said, I’d be surprised if you found anyplace that will print the #s on for you exactly as they should be due to the licensing, etc. If you take a shortcut (sewn #s on the front, screen print on the back) the jersey just won’t look right, especially compared to everyone else’s.

If I were you, I'd contact wherever you purchased from and demand that they either get you the new one in time for the AZ game since that’s what you purchased it for or refund your money so you can purchase someplace else before you run out of time to do that. This is assuming it’s a reputable dealer. I’m guessing it’s not China because they don’t take 4-6 weeks.

So you know, I just bought my wife a baseball jersey from Amazon last week with regular shipping and it came in the mail today. We bought a bunch of jerseys from China last year and they came about a week after I placed the order.

  12. Boycotting your TV will make zero difference in the grand scheme of things but it sounds like it’ll make you happy so more power to you. Until fans stop buying tickets and merch, the NFL doesn’t really care what we think…the machine will keep rolling and the sheep will keep watching.

  13. Whether or not we sign him, I am just happy to see the FO never rests while looking for possible upgrades.

I agree 100%. Midseason workouts like this were how we got Pears and Chandler…possibly Urbik too but I can’t remember his situation.

Stallworth could probably step in and contribute right away if we choose to sign him. He’s been around the league awhile and should be able to pick up the offense pretty quickly. Alexander would probably take a little longer to pick things up since he’s young and fairly green but I saw him play a game with the Rams last year and he was a beast.

  14. I guess. I didnt stay up to watch the end of the game. I went to sleep thinking the Pats had won.

But the mojo seems to be working (seroiusly) - Every time I turn to the game the Putz have a big drive and score, I turn the channel and then get out scored.

I have no idea what to do Sunday.

I made a few calls and Directv service to your house will be blocked on Sunday. You're welcome!!!

btw, did you hear the mics picking up the Bills/Browns players at the end of the 1st half? The Bills took a knee and I heard someone say (presumably a Bills player), "hey, let's be smart here" or something like that. They took a knee with no incident. I think it's in the players' best interests not to be d-bags in that setting.

I heard that too and thought it was pretty funny. I thought it was the ref that said it.

Most of the players have a certain level of respect for each other. In hearing some of the Bucs players respond to the questions after the Giants game, it doesn’t sound like this is their idea, most of the replies were basically “we’re just doing what coach says”. I’m all for playing hard to the final whistle but you have to have some class. Next time a team would normally kneel down against the Bucs, line up in the victory formation and then fire out and level the bucs players. Or just keep running up the score so you don’t have to kneel down.

  15. No. this^^^^^^^

I thought the network coverage was terrible, as I never saw a really good angle on it. BUT, if the ball is moving forward, there must have been some forward momentum imparted by the hand and the throwing motion of the arm to the ball BEFORE it left his hand.

At the very least, I cannot understand how, in that case, there could possibly be irrefutable evidence that it was in fact fumbled before his throwing motion was applied, which would be NECESSARY by rule to overturn the call.

We were fortunate that all it cost us was a shot at three points.

The league refers to it as the empty hand rule. Fitz lost the ball just as his arm was cocked all the way back but before it started coming forward. The momentum of his empty hand caused the ball to go forward. He never had control of the ball when his arm started moving forward. A play like this has been reviewable for a long time…think back to the Marsha Brady tuck rule. I thought the replay was conclusive that he lost the ball a split second before the arm came forward and that the refs actually did a good job on getting it correct. The ref even provided a little bit of an explanation as to what he saw on the reply, which is something we have not been getting from the scabs.

  16. Out for game but haven't heard anything else

Looked like collarbone or sep shoulder to me

Looked like collarbone to me. He didn't even try to move his arm. He's prob out for awhile. Get healthy soon Fred!

Thank you for your service Alphadawg7. Come home safe and soon!!!

  17. I don't think they should move Wilson if he can't play. Plug in Powell for Byrd if necessary. He looked good in the preseason. I'd rather have 1 replacement than 1 replacement and one player out of position.

Searcy has been splitting snaps with Wilson so far this season. I’m not saying it’s 50/50 but Chan did say that Searcy has earned some playing time and has been getting it at Wilson’s expense. In the past few years I’ve heard many times that the safeties were interchangeable in the defense but I’m not sure if that is the case in Wanny’s new D. I still have more faith in Wilson to play either spot than I do in Searcy. Howell looked good in the preseason against 2nd and 3rd stringers but I’m not ready for his first real NFL action to be a start on the road.
