  1. I hope Beane waits until training camp starts before making any decision. See what #46 & #33 look like with another year experience. Also see if poyer loses a step as he is getting older.

I like Poyer but don't think he sticks around unless it's a real team friendly deal. Wouldn't shock me to see him get traded.

it tells His blockers and Refs he is not bringing the Ball out.

I know it tells his blockers but is it actually in the rule book the same way the fair catch signal is? If not it will be.

The NFL wrote/worded so many rules specifically to remove judgement calls from the refs. Was tough to hear common sense officiating when it should be black and white.

  3. Is that arms out gesture that many returners have been making an official fair catch signal? They all do the same and I always just thought it was just to tell their team, not an official signal.

Some rules have room for judgement others do not. This one doesn't.  Unless that's an official fair catch type signal...betcha it will be next year...that was a live ball. Sucks but it is what it is.

Yes the clock ran out but on 3rd and 18 they should have made the stop.  And again in OT

they had Watson dead to rights and let him get away.  The call I hated was the blindside block call on Ford with the Bills driving into FG range.  That call was weak at best and calling it in playoff OT is terrible.

That "Blind Side Block" was the worst call I have ever seen. The dude was at 2 o'clock. if hes at 5, 6 or 7, I understand it, but he was in clear eyesight

Total crap but they called it by the book. I thought this rule was added to stop blind side blocks after ints etc. but they've been calling it on o lineman this year because of how the rule is worded. This has to be changed in the off season. What's the guy supposed to do...just let him hit the QB???

Why wouldn’t the Bills just block teams from interviewing Dorsey for a coordinator position?

Kind of an unwritten rule i think. Typically people don't want to work for a company that blocks your career advancement.

Wouldn't be surprised if Frazier gets some looks for a HC. After we lost what's his name..Petite?...to the browns a few years ago nothing will.

  6. Knox can catch. For all the drops he's made a few really good catches. The 1 handed yesterday was awesome. He just needs to concentrate on the easy ones and look the ball all the way in rather than looking to run.

On the Allen sack fumble he should have never been left 1 on 1 with their best pass rusher. No TE should.

  7. The ruling on that play was that Josh never actually possessed the ball. Right or wrong they ruled he just tapped the snap to the guy in motion.

On the jet sweep type play as long as the QB possesses the snap he can flip it any way he wants to the receiver running in front of him including underhand and it will be considered a forward pass.

They got the call right last week. We're on to Miami.

Just because you are stating as if this is obvious- Homerun throwback went from a player at the 29 to a player at 31. The question is did ball go forward from time of release - I think it did but if it did not go forward this call is wrong

If it is a incomplete pass why not just kill it? That play is consistently called incomplete- it was not overturned by replay since you can not show it went forward but by NY official fixing their mistake of not calling dead immediately.

I've just noticed that after the Saints got screwed earlier this year when refs blew a play dead as an incomplete pass (not a play like this) rather than letting the 80+ yard fumble return for a TD, the refs have been letting things play out more often...especially late in close games.  Basically a CYA type thing.

Also it doesn't matter on this play if the ball goes forward, as long as it doesn't clearly go backwards. It can go straight up and would still be considered incomplete if the WR drops it.

I am surprised they did not call it dead immediately and when they did not call it dead I thought it was gonna count since if it went forward at all it was so small. Though that has been called an incomplete all year. Basically I am saying they have been consistent and should have killed it immediately.

Because all turnovers are reviewed the refs are letting things play out so they can ensure it gets reviewed and is correct without a coach having to challenge.

I get that this situation is a one off, but if this play is going to keep happening in the league, I think it should be evaluated from an officiating standpoint.  By what he know to be a pass, that wasn't a pass.  I don't know if it's worth the time to change the rules for, again a one off, but what's the difference between a forward hand off and this play?

It was underhand.  You could argue he more dropped that ball than pushed it.  If you'd never seen the play before, you could argue it was a bad hand off.  You can't officiate intent, but that wasn't meant to be a pass.

Either way, I fully understand based upon the rules why it was ruled an incomplete pass.  For the intent of the play, should have been a fumble.

This wasn't a one off, it's quite common and has been around a few years. We've been running it all year. So have many other teams.

It's already been evaluated from an officiating standpoint as well. Some call it a pop pass and does not have to go forward to be ruled incomplete.

When the play first came out the QB often turned and handed it off to the WR running behind them. When that was botched it was a fumble. Now the WR always runs in front of the QB and the QB & WR are never touching the ball at the same time.

  11. I'm surprised so many think that was a fumble. This play isn't a new thing this year. This has happened to a lot of teams going back to last season at least and I've heard the in booth ref explain exactly why it's an incomplete pass so many times including today.

As long as the QB catches the snap he can toss it underhand straight up in the air and it would be considered a forward pass. It does not have to actually go forward. Now if the QB tosses it backwards then it would be a fumble. That is why they never just hand it to the WR, its always tossed so it's considered a pass.

I was so excited that we sealed the game but as soon as the 1st replay i knew it was coming back.

These defensive tackles are no good.

The drought was dreadful, but we had 2 bright spots.. Fred and Kyle. Fred was a good player, but Kyle was great! We have been spoiled with good defensive tackle play for years, and I think we have almost come to expect it. This group we have has been a major disappointment.

I’ve gone back and re-watched the games focusing on the backers and d-line. Edmunds and Milano haven’t been perfect but they are good enough. These tackles simply cannot get off blocks. Here is a brief breakdown of what I’ve seen.

    Star

Wow he’s bad! He comes off the line ok, but stops driving his feet and has a terrible habit of allowing his pads to be turned sideways. For a big guy he doesn’t seem that strong and gets moved fairly easily. I guess I just don’t see what they see, definitely not a starter.

    Oliver

This has been discussed. Still a rookie, but he looks out of place. He either needs to add weight to play tackle or lose some and play end. Maybe a DE in a 3-4. I can also see him being like a James Harrison. Definitely a great athlete and a decent pass rusher right now. I’m still optimistic but…..

    Jordan Phillips

Our best guy so far, but maybe a little over-hyped because of the sacks. Lacks the consistency to get too excited about. Pad level is often too high, he gets away with it because of his size.

    Harrison Phillips

I got him as our 2nd best guy. Like Jordan he also plays with pad level too high(worst than Jordan) but unlike Jordan lacks the size to get away with it.  He is actually pretty strong and has good instincts. Can see him developing into a top DT but he’s not there yet. Hopefully he’s recovering well.

    Lorenzo

You may have notices we line Zo up in the DT 3-tech spot on passing downs. I think this tells you something about our tackles. The results haven’t been there. I love Zo but I can’t help but feel that we always play him out of position. He exploded on the scene primarily as an edge rusher. But we have been using him either as an off the line LB or a DT.

Peko was the worst one, but he’s gone. Jury is still out on the new guy Taylor #96, nothing really jumped out at me.

Overall they all give pretty good effort and seem to be “process guys”. Jordan and Harrison would make good backups, but have been clearly better than Star and Oliver, so it’s puzzling why Star and Oliver were the starters. Hopefully the new guy is good but I’m losing faith in this staff and their ability to scout and coach defensive tackles.

It's my understanding that our DTs job is to stay in their gaps and clog up the o-line to make sure they can't get to the LBs on the 2nd level, not shed blocks to try and make a play.  We play gap control team defense. When everyone holds their gap there's nowhere for the RB to go.

In your research did you find what adjustments we made in games? Last week AP ran for over 100 in the 1st half. We shut him down in the 2nd. Against the Giants Barkley ran for like 70 on the 1st drive then shut him down too.
