NY Times thought is was worse because they deliberately misquoted him. Picking cotton has a racist history to it. Anyway, crappy as slavery was it's possible, in his mind anyway, that the current form of subsidized existence may be worse. Whether he is right or wrong it's just his opinion and there is no racism on his part. To me it's obvious and to you not so much. No where to go from here.

Never happened.During his exclusive interview with Sheriff Richard Mack on Monday, Ben Swann asked the sheriff about that soundbite. Did protestors place women where they could be in the line of fire? “It was a tactical ploy that I was trying to get them to use.” says Mack. Mack goes on to clarify that the ploy was not adopted and that he was not on the scene during the standoff. He continued by saying that he would risk his own life as well in taking a stand. “I would have been next. I would have been the next one to be killed. I’m not afraid to die here, I’m willing to die here. But the best ploy would have been to have had women in front because one, I don’t think they would have shot them. Two, if they had it would have been the best thing to show the rest of the world that these ruthless cowards will do anything they are told. If they are told to shoot they will shoot. Just like when they shot Vicki Weaver when they blew her head off in front of her little girl while she was holding a baby.” says Mack. Sheriff Mack says several women he personally knows who were on the scene volunteered to move to the front of the line. Video from Infowars, which we have shown you gives a very clear picture of exactly what was happening. It is important to note for the purpose of clarity that no formation of women and children in the front line actually took place. http://benswann.com/truth-did-bundy-ranch-protesters-put-women-between-themselves-and-armed-federal-agents/

I get the impression your about as American as they come. -
Even if his comparison isn't quite appropriate I think his intentions in his statements are well intention ed. Dead end subsidized life with little or no hope elevating yourself. Drug and gang infested neighborhoods. Single moms with no male partner to balance out the kids. A mess. Or slavery. I guess the ghetto life is better but how much better? Anyway, for what it's worth he never mentioned "picking cotton" in his statement From Right Scoop. A obvious attempt by the media to exaggerate. Lets make Bundy look like a hick racist. With him discredited so is his cause. So lets ignore the BLM pointing guns and tasering people expressing their freedom of speech. And lets ignore those ridiculous free speech zones and focus on this poor fugger and his mis timed statements. “That’s exactly what I said. I said I’m wondering if they’re better off under government subsidy, and their young women are having the abortions and their young men are in jail, and their older women and their children are standing, sitting out on the cement porch without nothing to do, you know, I’m wondering: Are they happier now under this government subsidy system than they were when they were slaves, and they was able to have their family structure together, and the chickens and garden, and the people had something to do? And so, in my mind I’m wondering, are they better off being slaves, in that sense, or better off being slaves to the United States government, in the sense of the subsidies. I’m wondering. That’s what. And the statement was right. I am wondering.” http://therightscoop.com/breaking-cliven-bundy-responds-to-charges-of-racism-the-statement-was-right/

My post was about the genesis of socialism and what keeps it's heart pumping. Class envy is it's engine. Of course there are wealthy liberals that hop on board for a variety of reasons. Peer pressure. General naive do good-ery and so on. And I do think that some conservatives are envious. It's human nature. A true conservative would never legislate their envy though like a progressive tax rate for example. They would just keep it inside until it turns into a bitter ball of hate. Like me! J/k. Other than that I agree with most of your post except the poor description part. -
If you listen to him explain it he wasn't endorsing slavery at all. I think his point was/is that one slavery has been replaced by another. You know the guy is a rancher. I don't think for a minute the guy is racist or crazy. He's been put in this position where everything he does and says is being recorded, interpreted and twisted. You have to be a slippery politician to navigate in these waters. He never should have brought anything like this up. The sad thing is this takes the spotlight off the real creeps.

Bundy's only mistake was bringing this up now. The culture of dependency seems to have wreaked havoc on the black community. Unemployment " Much has changed for African-Americans since the 1963 March on Washington (which, recall, was a march for “Jobs and Freedom”), but one thing hasn’t: The unemployment rate among blacks is about double that among whites, as it has been for most of the past six decades." http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2013/08/21/through-good-times-and-bad-black-unemployment-is-consistently-double-that-of-whites/ Single mother households 67 %? http://datacenter.kidscount.org/data/tables/107-children-in-single-parent-families-by#detailed/1/any/false/868,867,133,38,35/10,168,9,12,1,13,185,11|/432,431 Incarceration 6 times more than white http://www.prisonpolicy.org/graphs/raceinc.html Nice job war on poverty. No surprise that NY Times took this out of context and ran with it. I believe all Bundy is saying is that the federal and state governments have screwed the black people by hooking them on hand outs. To control them so they can count on their vote. Never addressing any real issues that may help them. Just cut them enough money to satiate them but not enough to really accomplish much. No core problems solved. Pure evil.

The system we want in place is the same one that built the greatest, richest, the most free, vibrant nation in history. Bestowed wealth on everyone. Created a huge middle class raising the standard of all. I think the problem with liberals is pure envy. Deep seeded resentment of the successful because that person makes the liberal face their own deficiencies. Lack of motivation. Lack of intelligence or whatever it may be that puts them behind on the scoreboard. Instead of seeing the big picture. Rising water raises all boats so to speak. But liberals( should really be described as Marxists these days) just can't stand that motivated guy having the biggest boat. The 150ft yacht makes them sick even if it means the middle guy can now afford a 35ft Cris Craft that he never would have had a chance to own three or four hundred years ago. Or whatever the equivalent would have been back then. Problem is a few dumb ass presidents started to mess with the system trying to convert us to a socialist country. Big government sucking resources out of the private sector. Huge bureaucracies burdening the private sector with regulations. So thanks Wilson, FDR, LBJ, Clinton and now Barry for the sabotage. Nice work. -
Wahhhhhhhhh! Working at a job is hard!

I think these days it's some sort of high paying consultant job. Maybe consulting how to be a consultant? Maybe that would be a education based job. I don't know. But I think dream jobs these days involve everything except actually working or producing something. -

And it's by a Frenchman. From that economic juggernaut that is France! The country that is currently imploding culturally and financially. How exciting we should all go out and buy it! -
Then why did they write the entire constitution? That one sentence covers it all. They could have just said. "Just make everyone happy"
-
And it shows just how un American the liberal left and Reid are.

Yet another land grab by the feds. Thank god Texas has a spine http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-Texas/2014/04/22/Exclusive-Greg-Abbott-to-BLM-Come-and-Take-It

Here is a link to the actual decision Tom. I skipped to the conclusion because it's very long. Government got beat up on this one. At least as far as the decision went. In reality it was the Hage family that took all the punishment. What a shame. But you will never hear Obama cry for these people. Actual productive, real hard working American citizens(not the mythical ones Barry drones on about) that contribute to our food supply and so on. Making use out of otherwise useless acreage. Kinda makes me sick. http://www.scribd.co...Nev-May-24-2013

I guess water always seeps it's level and Pelosi finally found hers. On her knees handling body parts. What a clown. http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/Pelosi-assists-in-Holy-Week-foot-washing-ritual-5411553.php I love this quote "Pelosi also used the occasion to talk about passing HR15 - bipartisan immigration legislation that her office says would "reduce the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, secure our borders, unite our families,"

More of the BLM at work. And the result http://www.infowars.com/federal-judge-blm-engaged-in-a-criminal-conspiracy-against-ranchers/ Judge pretty much calls the BLM criminals. I guess he's just another right wing lunatic extremist I guess right?

Maybe cattle wrastlin?

I'd be calling lawyers. Going on the offensive. For damaging property and also cattle rustling. People used to be hung for stealing cattle. http://www.foxnews.c...ranch-standoff/

The first 45 minutes were great yesterday. Really like Levin

I guess I just don't think the federal government has a right to own any land really. They can just pass some sort of green law and that gives them the right to confiscate property. Scary to me. I understand feds have to have some control of land. Ports, military bases and so on. Parks as well but that could be handled by the states. As long as your not dumping chemicals, nuclear waste or whatever land should be privately owned. I'll have to look closer at the sgc link. Not sure of the geography.
-
Besides Bundy and whatever shinanigans Reid and his mob are up to, don't you think it's alarming how much land the feds either own or control? Personally I really like the idea of state sovereignty and that would seem hard to maintain when the feds own almost all the land. Just wondering what your opinion is on that.

This is so true. We made the same mistake a couple times. Instead of buying $700 Weber we got sucked into a shiny stainless steel Costco one for a $200 less.Pain in the butt to clean because instead of having 2 or 3 cast grates this one had individual rods! Had to take each one out to clean it. Less than two years the first one rusted out. Not the nice exterior of it but the burners. Costco was great when we took it back but we had to get the same make from them to replace it because thats all they had. Same thing happened to that one!. Next one I got the same Weber Genisis that you have and have never looked back. Easy to clean. No sign of burners rotting away. I replaced the grates and the triangular baffles underneath but that's no biggie. We use our grill a lot. Cheap man always pays twice. In our case three times. Would be funnier if it wasn't a real possibility.

And really no less reliable than CNN, MSNBC and so on.
