1. An officer accused of domestic violence is arrested FASTER than anyone else in NYC. Believe this as you choose.

Officers accused of non-violent domestic incidents (such as loud verbal arguments, etc.) are already visited by Field Internal Affairs Units, as are their spouses.

    Next question?   ;)

    361854

Ya, right. I don't believe it.

    :(;)

  2. OMG!!! Having a bad day?

Well, here comes appology #2........Sorry to hurt your feelings. Happy Father's Day!

Gotta admit, that last sentence WAS funny.  :(

    361851

Actually, not. I am trying to get out of this place. You didn't hurt my feelings. I just think this smoking crusade is silly... Get over it.. You are retired, the law is the law... Accept it.

You throw barbs at me then come bearing roses... WTF is up with that?

  3. It also comes down to being a person of honor. When told to stop doing something that is harming another, they stop. Unfortunately, we don't live in a society that likes to yield to anyone. I wonder why? Then, in a half-hearted attempt, legislative acts start to take over in place of that honor.

I am not saying it (the laws) work but, they (the laws) attempt to fill the void left by the shortcomings of society at a personal level.

I posted this earlier Bill. It was meant for you.

  4. Protecting wife beaters? You have the wrong person my friend.

I made a living doing the polar opposite.

Sorry if I sounded rough on you. It was mostly in jest.  :(

    361846

So if a fellow officer is having a problem drinking which leads to domestic violence, you don't support going into his house and making sure he is not drinking?

Do you think he should be immediately removed?

    ??

  5. Exiled: you sound like an evil person. Please report yourself to the nearest police station for incarceration.

    361771

He's just the person to do it. People like Bill are above the law. When something doesn't go their way... They whine, kick, and scream. You can't argue with the rhetoric he spews or you are painted an evil, baby-killing, family hating, Jesus bashing bastard.

I do respect his right to paint people with a wide-brush and owe him no explanation. You gotta admit, once he effs somebody, at least he kisses them first!

  6. EIL, I have always liked you and still do. The thing is, you don't have "conservative leanings." Imo, your views are closer to facism.

You support home invasions of people who live in Housing Projects so that "health inspectors" may search for ashtrays and cigarette butts.

You support home invasions of the homes of police officers who had drinking problems; terrorizing their wives and children in the process.

You support denying the rights of bar owners to allow their patrons to consume a legal product within their own privately owned property.

Liberals were nothing like you way back when. They actually stood (or at least many of them did) for freedom.

You are against freedom at virtualy every turn, and have sung the praise of Hillary, and now Nader after making inexcusable racial slurs.

Not that you should care but I STILL like you, even if you are a facist leaning whacko.  ;)

    361746

    :(

That's pretty good Bill... One of your finest pieces!

I like you too! You do know your rhetoric and how to properly use it.

    Keep up the good work.

Nothing like protecting wife-beaters and somebody's right to breathe clean air so they can lead a long productive life spent with their children without fear of being ravaged by cancer. I guess freedom only means what you want it to be. It is okay for you to harm people but, when they harm you... You scream bloody murder. Typical cop for ya.

    ;)

  7. Amen.  Why should it be up to the yankees to foot the bill for other clubs payrolls.  I say let the weak teams die then the talent pool wont be so diluted and baseball will be extremely competitive. with less jobs there are fewer Jose Lima's in the league who have a career ERA over 5 and a salary of 2.5 million, fifteen years ago this guy spends two maybe three years in the show.  But with 30 teams there are 150+ starting pitching jobs and Jose Lima gets one.  Sorry to go on a tangent but the royals, bucs, d-rays et al need to be banished from baseball.

    361567

    Totally agree. Less teams.

Football would be no different. And people shouldn't cry the Bills couldn't make it. With a fiscally sound owner like RW... Buffalo would be fine!

  8. I know that as soon as the Pats start losing they'll drop off the radar here in NE faster than it takes a Mass-hole diver to cut off a semi with his Honda Civic.

The place has gotta be bad when they have to station state troopers in all workzones!

What is up with those drivers in that area? Tax dollars going to baby-sit bad drivers from running over construction workers!

And yes, I know I am painting with a wide brush today  ... Drivers are bad everywhere... Whenever I get near Manchester, NH... I know I am getting close! Certain parts take it too a new level.

    Merge Weasels=RJ

  9. I guess you and Pompei have the same McFarland Drew bobblehead.

    361564

I am still optimisic... I just think they will turn it around too late to make it look good.

I am not saying that they won't be able to hang in games either.

Whereas last year's record reflected a better (playoff) team... This years will be the same except they will appear worse than they really are.

  10. With that particular poster, lip service is the word.

    361551

I gotta keep telling myself that.

You forget... I am painting with a wide-brush today... It is gonna get wider as the week progresses!

Wanted to go home yesterday and the computer (PCM) on my car went out... That made the brush still wider!

    :devil::doh:

  11. Or in your mouth!

    361559

    God love ya!

As Bills fans I guess we can all laugh at our plight? Being from NJ I guess you can understand Buffalo's (the city) enviro. situation? You are not from the Newark area?

I do call it home and still love it! Nothing beats a good joke though.

  12. Wasn't there a poster and military guy here sometime ago that posted how he looked forward going back to Gitmo so he could beat-up on the r*gh***s?

All of us as Americans, including myself want to say that we adhere to high standards and uphold our values and laws.

Are we really capable of doing that? Or is it just lip-service?

  13. If this fact is true, and I suspect it is, I am only further amazed that we did not make the post season. Somehow I feel like if we had played better against Pittsburgh, we may have been number one in this category, though I'm not in the mood to wake up the squirrel in charge of providing juice to the server at NFL.com.

Time to move on, regardless of this year's outcome.

    361436

Things happen for a reason. The Pitt fiasco was meant to be and good will come out of it.

  14. Don't take this the wrong way, but this is the Era of Hype. If you care to search my posts, I was an early advocate of starting him. The pick was made, and DB was taking the club nowhere.

FA compresses an NFL team's chances, I know.

JP played in a podunk conference, took beau coup sacks, and if the Bills picked before rather that after PGH, they would have picked Ben R in a heartbeat instead of executing that trade.

JP earned a collegiate rep as a mouthy and selfish sort - I know he's lovey-dovey now - perhaps the $$$ angle, but I'm a believer in leopards and tigers not changing spots or stripes.

We can only wait and see.

    361205

    Exactly!

If you don't hype, you don't sell season tix.

    I am very cynical

  15. Sure.

Nader has become a bit out there in recent years, but his zealousness and intelligence has accomplished a lot of things, many which were worthwhile and good.

He is a remarkable man and will be an historical figure, regardless if you argee or disagree with him.

    361337

    I agree.

I have said it before, StuckInCincy, if there is one conservative that can sway me and bring out my conservative leanings, it is you!

Personal responsibility is where it is at!

  16. What part of:

"Some people can say things that others can't, look into the source and context."

    Don't you understand?

Take for example, some people's political leanings. Those people won't get the benefit of the doubt knowing their idealogical background... Some people will?

Again, what part of that don't you understand?

A word is just more than a word. It isn't black and white.

Of course he gets a slap on the wrist, he is not a threat.

    What part of:

"Some people get the benefit of doubt, some people have more power."

    Don't you understand?

You gotta know the person who is saying it, then certain powers and priviledge can be granted!

  17. The Carnegie program has been around for a long time. I've not taken it, but back in the '70's and '80's I knew several folks who did so, and they were positive about it.

IIRC, one of the things in it is that is that rather saying that others don't understand me, it's up to you to make yourself understandable to others.  And recognizing that there are people who for whatever reason, are only happy if they can hurt others and avoiding them, in graceful fashion.

    A study in personal responsibility.

Maybe all of us at TBD/TSW can take the course? Can we get a group rate?

  18. They shouldn't worry.  The government hasn't met an A-76 they couldn't win by not having to play by the same rules they hold the companies who respond to it to.  The entire process is pretty much a crock and totally stacked in their favor.  It takes a really incompetent group for the gov to lose.

    360854

    :devil::doh:

What about the Red River? (then again, minimal tonnage)... That was won 2 times by the gov't and with political pressure opened for the 3 time and given out to contract.

Buffalo district lost Great Lakes dredging ops. in the early 80's... 2 years later contracts went up 300% when they realized there were no "in-house" people to match...

  19. Oh we know how it works TH.  Bellichick is a f****n' mad genius who is never wrong, and every player he drafts is an all-pro even though no one has ever heard of them.

You won 3 of the last 4 and everyone KNOWS the Pats a re a D-Y-N-A-S-T-Y!  All I was saying is that your "fans" know absolutely nothing about any other NFL team.  You don't even know your own Pats history.

I hear there is a guy on the Pats board named "Harvard Stadium" that gives great historical evidence on the Pats early years.

  20. Im sorry Exiled have you ever been here? Or going by heresay? All of mass is not obnoxious. And your completly wrong about NE being welcoming. NE is a big tourist destination unlike your ILLIONOIS if that is where your from. You have no idea what your talking about at all.

    360876

I am from Buffalo... South Cheektowaga/West Seneca. There is a huge difference in Illinois also... Between the north and south Chicagoland areas and the rest of "downstate" that is predominately RURAL and VASTLY different. Again, I am generalizing, moving from Buffalo to the midwest and spending a lot of time in NE, you get a huge diffference in attitudes just as you do when you go from the south and north Chicagoland areas. There are discprencies at all levels of the social-economic scale... I think this affects people's attitudes?

Yes. I spend every other summer up in NH.

I usually make 2 or 3 trips a year to NE between my sister in northern Vermont and my in-laws in MA/NH. My sister married someone from northern Vermont and they even have distain for their southern brethren. Ya, he is a big NYG and NE, BoSox fan... think he has a nice word to say about the people from that region? Hell no!

NE is so parochial... Everybody outside certain general areas are considered different, scorned upon... Not from Maine? You are an "Outlander." Not form the mountains to the north? You are a "Flatlander." Etc... Etc... This probably has a lot to do with geography and history? For what the area benefits in geography and natural wealth, they totally lose it when it comes to personality qualities, IMO... Again, this is a wide brush and generalizing... I find it to be the norm. I even know people who moved from the deep south to NE, then the midwest, and then northwest and they have noticed the difference.

Like I said, very nice place... I just don't find the hospitality and welcoming attitude you find in other regions... It (NE) is very cold and distant with regards to general personalities...

Sure I am using a wide brush, sorry.
