  1. Teams almost always take the full 15 minutes because they'll entertain trades, have last minute debates and most important: because ESPN wants to them to take time so they can run commercials, trot out all the analysis and promote their NFL schedule.

Or in Buffalo's case, the major players in the War Room spend 10 minutes of every half hour in the bathroom.

  2. What are you afraid of? The Bills sucking more than they do right now?

Relax, Tonto. Tough to suck more than we do right now. And if we DO suck more, just think: 3-13 puts us in top two or three draft picks for next year. Than we can spend all offseason just like we've been doing with this one.

I forgive you for that statement because...

You drink and have a keg in your house. ( insanely jealous, I am...) :w00t:

  3. Usually I am an advocate of drafting the best player available.

However in this draft for the Bills, we must get in any order the following:

    DT - 2

    OT - 1

    OG - 1

    FS - 1

    SS - 1

    CB - 1

    DE - 1

    RB - 1

    There are 9 areas of need and we have 10 picks.  If we were also to take this in relation to areas of need, I would go as follows;

    DT - Highest Priority

OG/OT - Equal need at high priority

SS/FS - Equal need at medium priority

    CB - Need 4th corner

    RB - Need inside presence

DE - Pass rush end would be great

How Long It Took To Build Rome = 1 Day

  4. Reyes is a mediocre-to-bad starting guard and would make a good backup, nothing more.  He's a poor run blocker, which we need like a hole in the head.  Signing him would add depth, which we do need, but should not really affect our goal of getting two future starting guards from this draft.  Reyes = Panos.

    Spot on.

  5. The only player cut that was questionable to me was Adams but please don't tell me Moulds was a mistake.

He was catching 3-5 yard slants 90 % of the time and immediately falling down. The guy had 81 catches and recorded about 220 yards after catching the ball. That's about a 2.8 yards average gain after catch. :) A shadow of his former self and being paid like Jerry Rice in his prime. Cya Eric.

Milloy didn't fit this D at all. Vincent should be gone no later than next January. Heartless Mike Williams doesn't want to play hurt. I wouldn't be surprised if someone beat out Posey for his job before the opener. Very few of our 30 something players were doing anything. The horrid coaching didn't help. Time to keep a few specific vets and become young.

I don't expect a TD draft at all because that would mean an obsession with a skill position player who has rebuilt his knee or is vertically challenged.

I think Marv will actually try some O and D lineman. I'm currently hearing Justice of USC is one of the guys they're targeting at #8, if they don't trade down. Fine by me.

Follow that up with a Guard and a rotation DT and your building a team, instead of watching a GM make niche picks like Roscoe Parrish. Dwight Adams stated to someone I know that TD made the draft picks and didn't accept draft day input from anyone, causing friction. Me thinks Marv is a little wiser than that, since he knows his limits. The Coaches will ID shortages and Modrak will try and find them players.

Next off-season, the Bills will have new worries with LB depth and other issues but one step at a time. We're not 2 players short of a run.... We're multiple players short. Hopefully, Fairchild and Fewell can Coach around some of the shortages and make Jauron the Delegator look good.

I'm being realistic in my expectations.

  6. Marv and Jauron didn't create this roster. So expecting all the holes/depth concerns to be filled by the end of Draft day 2 is foolish. This Free Agency pool was horrid for what we needed.

The Bills must wait to see what happens with the first 7 picks and then pick the best player available, due to the critical $$ factor. If offered the opportunity to trade down, they will seize it. Marv said as much in the Buff News yesterday.

From round 2 on, they will pick players based on need...but the needs far exceed the amount of high picks, where the quality talent resides.

I don't have any doubt our draft will produce help for the DL and OL. An argument could be made for multiple other positions for starters and depth... but is that realistic to believe they will all be filled in one off-season ?

    Nope.

Remember that come next Sunday, when the draft is completed. No way will we fill all our holes/depth concerns. Hopefully, the critical shortages in the trenches will be upgraded.

Most anything else will be a bonus.

  7. I watched the Rams O and may passes were low risk quick hitters, which set up the occasional bomb downfield. It also set up some good running plays, since the opposition was looking at the past first.

Ever since the Gilbride O was figured out halfway through 2002, the Bills have been facing stacked fronts they rarely could beat. I saw a glimmer of hope against Miami on the Road last season with Losman hitting Evans...but Meatheads superior coaching allowed Miami to rally and win.

I still can't believe we signed Price but catching the short pass and turning it upfield was his game in 2002. Reed and Parrish seem much the same. This sets up the bomb to Evans, much like the Rams with Holt. Can we get something out of the TE ?

McGahee and the RB's may not have to hestitate and dance around this season, if we come out throwing first and pull the Safeties/LB's off the line.

I know. Postive thoughts aren't allowed here.
