Not really sure how contracts work in the nfl with players that are imprisoned during their contract. But I don’t see Ruggs on Vegas’ salary anymore.

    https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/las-vegas-raiders

Looks like the Raiders took a cap hit of $3 mil in 21' and $4.8 mil in 22' on Ruggs.    It's going to be an ugly situation for the Bills.

On the WGR morning show today, they were talking about the Bills cap problems for next year.   I was thinking the best option would be to get Von Miller to take a pay cut.   Would help the Bills and no one is going to pay Von anything close to what he's scheduled to earn the next 4 yrs wtih Buffalo.   Of course that was before he got in a fight with his baby mama.  Bills are probably screwed now, with limited options.

Not much. With that said, yes, he was solid today. Still, all-time great QB's are clutch. Allen is like Marino, Favre, and Rodgers. Amazing tools but somehow (even when he plays well), his team most of the time can't put the whole thing together for 80% of key losses. Today was an 80% loss game with Allen failing to make a few key passes.

Allen was way more than solid yesterday.  He missed a few throws, but he truly put the team on his back with a valient effort.   He made several amazing plays, 400+ total yards and 4 TDs in terrible weather against a strong D should get it done.   But your comps of Marino and Favre are good.  His play styie is like Favre, but recently I've been thinking his career could end up like Marino.   Marino was an amazing paser, but as on overall QB, I would never have traded Kelly for Marino in their primes.   Kelly knew how to manage and win games.  In the same way,  Eagles fans would not trade Hurts for Allen.

The 0-6 OT record for Josh is telling.   Other than the Chiefs playoff game, the Bills O had the ball with a chance to win.  In those 5 games, their drives were punt, punt, INT, punt , FG.   So yesterday was the first time they even put up 3 points.   Of course the D was no help in those 6 games. They only forced 1 punt, Houston playoff game, and the Bills punted back to lose on FG, and only forced 1 FG against the Vikings and then Bills lost when Allen was intercepted.  Other 4 games were immediate TD drives or punt return for TD.  Complimentary football.

  3. I voted Yes, because I do hate the term, and the vote wont make a difference.  But really we shouldn't ban any terms or negative comments about the Bills on this board.  It's a place for fans to vent and share their frustration.  Even though B***** is a stupid term, if some fans think it's useful, go ahead and use it.

Although this era of the Bills does find unique and heart-wrenching ways to lose dramatic games, I still would rather have this entertaining group to root for compared to some others.

Well said, only thing about his playcalling that Dorsey had the same issue with is that a WR screen to Diggs hasn't done a productive thing all year. I wish they'd deep six that playcall

I know what you mean, but I feel like it can help to set-up other routes for Diggs.   And although it seems to get shut down more often than not, it has produced a few first downs this year and the play went for 34 yards in 1st Qtr against Cinci.

    When is Von Miller returning?

What a difference it could make if he gets back to even making 2 - 3 plays a game where pressures or sacks QB or a tackle in the backfield.   It's upsetting to watch how ineffective he is since his return.  Does not look like he is even trying.

  6. I actually thought it was going to be a really  good division,  Even after Rogers got hurt.  Figured the Bills & Fish were defintitely top 5 AFC teams and Jets & NE would both be capable of beating top teams and finish close to .500.    I guess the Fish and Jets might hold up to that standard, but overall it's turned out to be a weak division.

Really did not see the Bills being so mediocre, they play exactly like a .500 team.  And I thought Belichick would at least field a team that coudl be competitve most weeks.

Won't be for long though because someone has to win between Bills/Jets and I think Miami is primed for a serious run coming off their bye week with a pretty favorable schedule coming up and Fangio's defense starting to come together.

You've been talking about Miami's serious run for 10 years.  Still waiting

But it hurts all the truly great sideline reporters!!!! Would anyone honestly care if they didn’t have sideline reporters? They are about as useful politicians. 🥁

It really is pointless.  They could just put a pretty girl on the screen talking about any nonsense for 2 minutes and most of would be just as happy.

I've watched thousands of pro & college football games on TV, and the only 2 memorable in-game interviews I remember are when Namath told Suzy Kolber he "I don't give a damn about the NY Jets, I just wanna kiss you" and when Peyton Manning called out his "idiot kicker".   So about once every thousand games you get something interesting.

Post-game are occasionally interesting when players or coaches are all fired up after a win or depressed after a loss, and say something genuine before they have time to cool down.

Jauron I can never compliment or be positive about. There was just too many soul destroying losses under his tenure. The angriest I have ever felt being a Bills fan was the 56-10 Pats loss under Jauron where the Pats just humiliated the Bills and he stood there on the sideline, deer in the headlights frozen. Marrone era actually had some memorable games and also gave us a shot at the playoffs.

Agree, those Jauron teams were really hard to watch.   Other than Greg Williams teams, Jauron's Bills were the most hopeless of the drrought era.

Besides the blow-out loss to NE, the 07' season featured some other truly horrific losses.   Just like last Monday night, the Broncos Field Goal team ran on the field 4th down w/ no TO's and kicked GW FG as time expired in the opener.   It was also the game K. Everett was paralyzed.     The sickening MNF loss to the Cowboys where the Bills allowed 2 scores in the last 20 seconds to lose by 1 point after our D forced 6 TOs.   And all 3 of those games were at the Ralph.  It's amazing there were any STHs left the next season.

To cap it off the Bills lost in Cleveland to the Browns 8 - 0 in the snow.  Good times.

  9. problem is that Bills team needed a 7 game streak.   What was crazy about the streak, is that it came out of nowhere and all 6 wins were blow out victories.   After 4 1/2 years of below average football they won those 6 games by an average of 28, and didn't score less than 33 in that stretch.

There was some real talent on that team.   Moulds, Lee Evans, Josh Reed was a good 3 receiver set, Jason Peters at tackle, and McGahee & T.Henry in the backfield.  Front 7 on D w Sam Adams, Pat Williams, Aarron Schobel, Takeo Spikes, and London Fletcher was damn good.

The last second opening day loss to the Jags & finale against the Steelers back-ups were brutal.  And both were at home too.   Only time they were anywhere near the playoffs that decade.

  10. I agree with alot of the points here, but the defense is a big part of the problem too.

Letting Mac Jones, Tyrod Taylor, Baker Mayfield,  Russ Wilson, and Zach Wilson go on long TD drives in crucial moments of the 4th QTR is not a formula for winning football certainly won't put you in position to make the playoffs.   I realize Tyrod and NYG didnt actually a score a TD, but that was mostly luck and poor officiating in favor of the Bills.  The D has not been able to come with a big stop to seal any of the close games against poor teams.

Add in horrible special teams against the Jets and Broncos and here we are, where someone needed to be fired.

The "Just give it to them" game against the Bledsoe/Carrol Pats back in 1998.

I was at that one.  As far as regular season games, "just give it to em" game & the MNF loss to the Cowboys were absolutely torcherous and still haunt me.

For playoffs (non SuperBowls), the forward pass in Tennessee was the worst b/c of the brutal finish and the fact that it officially ended the Bills golden era, and ushered in the drought. 13 seconds is right there, and could equal it depending what happens in upcoming seasons.

So many people forget Minnesota last year.

Agree, that one doesn't get mentioned much, considering what a brutal and dramatic loss it was.  I think that's the only time the Bills blew a 17 point or more 2nd half lead in Rich/Ralph/New Era/Highmark Stadium.  At least the only one I can remember in my decades as a fan.

Thanks for sharing. Anymore bad ideas?

Bring back Rex Ryan as D-coordinatoor.   He will be understanding of 12 men on the field penalties.

See if we can trade for Edmunds in the offseason to help with our LB depth.

Pass a rule to allow extra defensive Time Outs in the 4th QTR.   McD can use them to help opposing offenses select their best plays

All of the above will increase scoring and make games more exciting.

Definitely one of the worst vibes at the Ralph. More weird plays than I’ve ever seen in one game. But, how on EARTH, does an incomplete pass get turned into forward progress first down? Anyone?

it was either incomplete, a fumble, or shouldve been 4th down.   I think incomplete would've been the correct call.   But the Bills made so many blunders and lost in such a stupid way, that picking out questionable calls by refs just doesn't give any satisfaction.

Being a Bills fan isn't for wimps.

I can't think of a fanbase who has had so many heartbreaks, and most of them are ones opposing fans can name.

Maybe the Red Sox before 2004?  Who else?  Cubs fans before their title?

It's a small group.  But I think we're at the top.  No team finds new & excruciating ways to lose like the Bills do.

Vikings are probalby up there.   They've had some crazy losses including playoff games, and have a good loyal fan base

But yeah, being a Bills fan hardens you.  It sucks when you can rank just heartbreaking Monday Night Football losses.  That one last night only ranks 3rd worse for me on MNF.   Also sucks, when you know it's coming.     I didn't say it out loud,  But when Denver missed the the 2nd extra point, I immediately thought Bills will lose 24 - 22.

It feels like you are looking ahead.  Don't underestimate the Broncos.

On a related note, we may not get our home game against the Chiefs next year.

That would suck if we don’t get it done, and miss out the chance to make KC come to OP.

  17. In general I think Vegas has been more optimistic on the Bills the last 2 seassons  than many of us who follow the team closely.

Bills were 8 - 10 ATS in 2022, and 3 - 5 ATS so far this year.   So .423 winning % the last 2 seasons.

There were a couple speads recently that seeemd really questionable, Bills minus 5 against Jacksonville and minus 11.5 against the Patriots.    I expected the Bills to win both games, but it seemed like there were factors going into those games that shoudl have made the spreads lower.   Personally, I don't bet against the Bills.   And usually don't bet on the Bills , except for playoffs. And I do that hoping to spend the winnings on SB trip, not necessarily because it's a good bet.

It wasn’t that much better in the end, I think it just felt like that because they got off to a better start.

They had 3 tremendous opportunities to kill the game in the 4th and came up empty on all of those drives.

Make no mistake, this offense still has big problems.

If McD goes for it on either of these early 4th QTR 4th downs in plus territory, I believe they

get ‘em and rhe Bills win by 28. O was playing well. Just got ultra conservative

    Other reminders:

Every coach/QB combo in NFL history that has won a Super Bowl has done so within their first 5 years together. McDermott and Allen are in year 6 and things seem to be falling apart. It seems that things have grown stale and a change is needed.

No player has ever won the Super Bowl with three different teams (Von Miller), unless you count Matt Millen who was inactive for his win with the Redskins.

Reminder:  The Bills have never won a Super Bowl.   Just because something hasn't happeend in the past, doesn't mean it can't happen in the future.

  20. Love that Josh has learned to play so well against Belichick's D.  And that he's been a Dolphin killer right since he came into the league.

Cam Newton really couldn't throw at the end of his career. His throwing motion was awful.   "Throw like a girl" comes to mind

That honestly looked so similar to Harmon's drop. Corner of the end zone play at a crucial moment that hit Moreau right in the mitts

3rd & Goal game on the line. Perfect soft spiral lofted over the shoulder. Easiest catch in the world.

I still wonder if Harmon was paid off or had money on the Browns.
