  1. HOWEVER...if somebody imprisoned you for five years in Gitmo, you probably did something to earn the trip. The guys there weren't just busted for a broken taillight or out buying beer one day and grabbed off the street. They were serious bad-asses to begin with.

Sorry Tom, I must call Bullshitika on this. I'm sure there's been more than one wedding celebrant thrown into Gitmo for firing their Kilishnikovs into their sky. ( if of course they weren't first cluster bombed.)

  2. I think it's stupid to have handicap spots to start with. Park in a regular spot like the rest of us. If you really have mobility issues then get dropped off in front of the store in the unloading zone.

So I should pick up my quadrapalegic 5 yr old and his chair with 60 lbs of equiptment that helps him breathe, and pack him into my prius , and wait behind the guy idling in front of the store waiting for his fat wife, so that it's fair to everyone? Why didn't I think of that?

  3. Cozumel is one is the truly great dive sites in the entire hemisphere. The Great Mayan Reef is the largest in the Western Hemisphere, and Cozumel sits right on it. I rented everything down there, and it was fine.

My dive in Cozumel was off San Francisco reef. Beautiful. 40-50' dive.

I do hear that Columbia Reef and Punta Sur are even better, but its a much deeper dive...90'. I have not gone that deep and didn't have the requisite time to decompress from that before my flight back.

    Here's a map for you...

And a little airplane reading for you...

If you want to get recertified in Cancun, and have a good local dive before checking out Cozumel...

You sir, Rock! Thanks much.

  4. I actually enjoy diving very much, but don't get enough time to do it consistently. I was in Cancun in February, went diving twice, once off the coast of Cancun and once in Cozumel. The Cancun dive was nice to get my feet wet again, but the dive off Cozumel (about a 3 hour bus ride away) was absolutely fantastic. I would highly recommend it.

    Thanks :P

  5. I got into a fight at the grocery store over this the other day.

I saw some handicapped guy trying to park in one of OUR spaces!!!! I let him know what time it was...

I have a wheelchair van with a ramp that can only extend if the striped area adjacent to the disabled parking spot is clear. I routinely have to remove the shopping carts that people leave there before I can get my son out. I've also run into the guy or gal who has no permit, idling and waiting for their passenger, and refusing to relinquish the spot.

    Thank you.

  6. ... but anything less and Jauron should be fired.

I'm really hopeful the offense we saw Schonert call after Fairchild left is something we'll see more of this year. If we're back to bland, boring and predictable, we won't go 8-8 and the front office will have it easy on letting DJ loose.

I think DJ has done a great job his first two years. But after two (hopefully three) great drafts, plus some good moves in FA and stability at QB, we should be poised to make a noticeable jump from 7-9. For a franchise that hasn't seen the playoffs in a decade, we're justified in raising the expectations bar.

Shame on you sir! To suggest anything less than an 11-5 season is Outrageous!

I dare say, you have taken leave of your faculties. I shoud expect that you recant your scurrilous and utterly preposterous remarks by mid season. GOOD DAY TO YOU SIR.

  7. Sorry to be a bore, but I am just indescribably thrilled.

My daughter has been accepted to, and will attend Temple Law School with a full tuition scholarship. Yeah, call me a boring, proud father.

I came up hard. Tough neighborhood, dysfunctional house. My wife was indescribably poor. We broke our asses to send her to Dartmouth. It looks like it might pay off. She is already studying and is going to be prepared. My main goal for my 3 daughters was that they had an easier life than Millie and me, and not have to be exposed to the ugliness that I had to see; things I have compartmentalized and will not talk about. I used to think about this sometimes after really crazy situations at work.

I think that it's looking good so far, and I thank God for this. Her sisters are right in her footsteps.

As for this board.....I sent out some PMs to people I thought might have some useful info. The information/help I received was flat out, off the charts staggering, even humbling.

Posters right here on TBD did the following:

    1) Offered to meet her and be a liason to Admissions at a particular school at which he is an alum.

    2) Explained fine print wrt scholarships (more complicated than it sounds).

    3) A poster sent me a complete breakdown of every neighborhood in Philly, and followed it up with 2 more long, informative letters. It must have taken hours. Seriously.

    4) Sent me a precinct by precinct crime map of Philly.

    5) A Temple alum offered in depth, inside info about the school, numerous times.

    6) Told me what's up with graduates from particular schools that they know personally.

    The list could continue.

I was new at this particular process and got help here that I will never forget. You people know who you are, and I thank you eternally for caring enough to be of so much assistance. Sometimes I think that we take this board for granted, but when the chips are down, there are people here who actually care about eachother. Yeah, we are testy sometimes and we bicker. It's all good.

Again, sorry to be a bore. :P After I click on "Post New Message," I am going to hoist up a beer and toast to success of my baby, and to the great people who went out of their way for me although they just didn't have to, nor had any real reason to. You too SDS. Good job!

Bravo! You've obviously been a great Dad. Cheers to you and your Daughter. :wallbash:
