  1. Just got back from a memorial service for my Mother in Law (she passed in 2020). She wanted to be buried near by her Mother and Dad, but the plots were full, so we put some of her ashes at the bottom of a mum and planted it on the grave. Anyway this song is for her.
  2. Cheer up, Sleepy Jean Oh, what can it mean To a daydream believer And a homecoming queen Cheer up, Sleepy Jean Oh, what can it mean To a daydream believer And a homecoming queen
  3. God only knows, God makes his plan The information's unavailable to the mortal man We work our jobs, collect our pay Believe were gliding down the highway When in fact were slip sliding away
  4. Going thru the records again, I'm apparently on a Nazareth kick, here's one from Hair of The Dog And one from Razamanaz. Listening to the lyrics it could be a country song, there's even some nifty slide guitar (definitely not country, lol)
  5. I would like to reach out my hand I may see you, I may tell you to run (On my way) (On my way) You know what they say about the young.
  6. Delving into rock history today: Carmen Appice is one of my all time favorite drummers. He and Tim Bogert (bass) have had a long history of playing together in various bands, starting with Vanilla Fudge They moved on to form Cactus Then they teamed up with Jeff Beck
  7. Sorry you had that experience at such a young age. That album art was so controversial at the time, that the cover was changed after the original pressing. The band was a super grouping of Stevie Winwood from traffic and Eric Clapton/ Ginger Baker from cream. They only lasted a few months as a group and only produced the 1 album Winwood went on to reform Traffic. The original band (w/ Dave Mason): The reformed version:
  8. Here's one from way back in the album archives. I bought this record back in the mid 70's. I bought it because John Nitzinger was lead guitarist and I was always impressed by his performance at Mar y Sol festival (1972)(jellyroll/texas blues) on a record I got from my brother. Bloodrock 2 is a really a hard driving blues record except for the song " DOA", which was a minor AM radio hit (and a truly dark song about a kid who dies on the way to the hospital after a plane crash). This song is called "Cheater"
  9. Don't send me no doctor And fill me up with all them pills They call me doctor feel good And I want to cure you of all your ills Yeah they call me doctor feel good I wanna make you feel real good
  10. Blind faith were a great band, too bad they only had the 1 album.
  11. It's 10:35 in the heartland Make your move or you never will The boys are out on Mayfield Everybody dressed to kill Some of them got raises Some of them just got time Some think about last season Some think about life of crime
  12. Chris Squires bass is great on this cut
  13. That was a good show by Yes. I liked the Original lineup with Steve Howe better though. Funny story about Nazareth's album art. My business partner, who was quite the artist in his own right, (and a damn fine house painter)drew the creature off this album as a mural on his bedroom wall when he was a teenager. When his grandmother was visiting from Michigan, she refused to stay in that room because she thought that was a picture of the devil. She suggested to his dad (her son) that he should immediately paint over it, so as to keep the house from being cursed.
  14. That whole album was awesome. Nazareth was one of my favorite bands. Although this was a great album and a commercial success I think loud and proud was their best. Razamanaz and Rampant were my number 3 and 4. I Didn't care much for their later stuff, just like almost all the great bands from the 70's they sold out to the teeny bop crowd on their later albums. Here's one from Loud and Proud.
  15. I was always told that the song had hidden meanings. The line "scared old slaver" was sky dog slaver, referring to Duane Allman, his nickname because he was all ways high. Brown sugar was referring to heroin.
  16. See now I'm hungry . Ever have a wish sandwich, you know, 2 pieces of bread, and you wish you had some meat. I guess I'll have to go to taco bell and wish it were real food 😉
  17. Interesting stories, they were an ok band, but nothing I would rush out to buy/see. I am more interested in the restaurant. I miss good Mexican (Sonoran style)food. In rochester there is none to speak of. In Cali. , you have fish tacos and Baja sauce, but there is nothing like machaka chimichanga with a side of rice and beans. (Think the Original Garcia's in Scottsdale) and a strolling mariachi band, while drinking margaritas It was common knowledge before we ever knew it was.
  18. Everybody here is out of sight They don't bark and they don't bite They keep things loose, they keep things light Everybody was dancing in the moonlight
  19. As soon as the game comes on the tv, my wife (she's no prude, and can f bomb with the best of them) and the dogs head out of the room. Recently, we have been watching a couple of games with our 2 1/2 year old great grandson, in that case f--- becomes, great googily moogily or something like that.
  20. You do a great job on these, I have looked forward to reading them every week. Thank you, keep up the good work .
  21. Mysterious - blown in with the night All this beauty captured in a frame Visibly shaken but never stirred - drives them insane I see the way she plays her men - and I know I've got to know her name She's so beautifully broken - shaped by the wind Dangerously twisted - Here I go again
