  1. If he makes the team, he is going to be a baller under Brady. Predicting 750+ yards, 4 TD's. We don't have a number 2 receiver and there were tons out there to be had, including re-signing Jones. I feel for the new QB who gets to throw to Stevie Johnson and.....
  2. Anyone out there hear of any rumors lately of us targeting high profile or even mediocre free agents? I've heard of Ellerbe from the Ravens but that's it. It's pretty frustrating seeing all the potential moves from all these teams and the bills not even making a headline. Chiefs were the worst team in the NFL (record wise) and landed a solid QB, signed their best WR to a long term deal, no franchise tag. Dolphins need a receiver, targeting Wallace. I believe of building through the draft, but we have so many holes I'm not sure 6 players can fill. I know we will know more on March 12th and on, just curious if there are any rumors out there. Go Bills!
  3. This spells second round pick by the Jets all over. Imagine that locker room with fake girlfriends, Tebow's lectures, Cromartie's 8 million kids, Rex's tattoos, Sanchez trying to throw the ball. Oh man...I'm getting chills just thinking about the press possibilities.
  4. Flynn played one good game against the Lions a year ago when the Lions (I believe) had already made the playoffs and they had their second string in. I doubt he will average 480 yards and 6 touchdowns a game. In saying that, I wouldn't mind giving up a 6th or 7th for Flynn or pick up Smith from waivers and bringing in a rook drafted in the first two rounds to have open competition. As we saw with RG III, anything can happen and to have one of those guys come in and finish a game/season puts my mind at ease. Having Tyler Thigpen as a backup to an already erratic Fitzmagic doesn't spell playoffs.
  5. I do like Moats...but after checking the stats from last year, only 7 of our 36 sacks came from the linebacking crew through 16 games. In comparison, Aldon Smith and Von Miller combined for 8.5 sacks this past weekend in ONE game. Harrison wouldn't give us those numbers, however its pretty evident we need some help/depth at LB. It may not be him, just wanted some thoughts on a four time pro bowler coming in that is out of his prime, but can still play. Thanks for the feedback.
  6. Good chance he'll be released by the Steelers this offseason. I know he has off the field issues and he isn't the player he was 5 years ago. With the new coordinator, I'm sure he'd like some situational guys that can bring some toughness on certain downs. I've always hated this guy, then again if the Bills had Coortland Finegan, whom I also dislike, I wouldn't mind it. He's no longer in his prime, but should the Bills bring him in if he's not demanding big money? Strictly for depth behind OLB, not saying he should start. GO BILLS
  7. I'll laugh at my own expense, and realize this was a dumb post. Made my monday
  8. Yes, I realize this is a moo point and if this was a thread nine months ago, some fans would be saying both of these guys shouldn't be drafted by Buffalo and they won't be anything in the NFL due to being too short, too many tattos, something dumb like that. I think all of us here believe these guys can play. Anyway, I asked myself a hypothetical today, "If the Bills drafted either of these guys, would Gailey had either of them start one game over Fitz this season?" My answer is no, and why I hope the new regime gives players, not necessarily just quarterbacks, a chance to prove themselves. Only reason Fitz ever started was because Trent "Checkdown" Edwards was injured. We traded for TJ and he wasn't active for one game. In conclusion, if the Bills get a veteran QB (99% it's going to be Alex Smith or Vick) and draft a rookie QB, if the VET starts playing terrible, Marrone and co. see would hopefully see what other guys can do. Again, many variables here...what's considered bad, playoff spot on the line, etc. Thoughts?
  9. IMO the quarterback class this year isn't impressive. The trading up/down somewhat depends on where Vick, possibly Matt Flynn lands. Four teams need QB's...Bills, Chiefs, Jets, and Jaguars. I can't see Jacksonville grabbing another 1st round QB when they've invested a lot in Gabbert. Chiefs will take Geno Smith. I can see Jets trading up for Matt Barkley to make sure they get him, which leaves us with Vick, or Flynn. I wouldn't mind trading back a few spots, getting at least two picks out of it and grabbing a LB/WR. 2nd road grabbing a WR/LB and that QB out of Arkansas. If he doesn't pan out as a franchise QB then we have Vick for a few years and more drafts to get that QB.
  10. 1. Run more draw plays for either Spiller or Jackson 2. Run less WR screens hoping the receiver will gain 8 more yards after the catch. 3. Involve the TE more 4. Pass less, run more to control the clock 5. Never, unless its to get into field goal range, do a pass, pass, run on 1st and 10. 6. Operate less out of the shotgun. Shotguns are for QB's that consitently throw downfield...not WR screens or slants with the occassional overthrow down the field. 7. Use Freddy on the goal line 8. Have Corey Mac on 90% of plays for run/pass support. I agree with a lot of your assesment. The two WR/one TE set is best for our offense till we get another downfield threat...cough cough...Dwayne Bowe.
  11. Agreed. Phillips used Mario as a hybrid DE/OLB and before he got hurt he was averaging 1.5 sacks a game. There's no use in buying a 55" TV if you can't turn on the remote...aka...hire another defensive coordinater that won't have him do the same motion over and over every play.
  12. I'd have to agree. As much as we hate/love the Mario signing, we are stuck with that contract for a few years. I would love to have another end, like Mathis/Freeney on our team someday, but we need a QB and linebacker...or 3. Atlanta turned their team from worst to playoffs with Ryan...same with the Saints and Breeze. Our current DL, as sad as this sounds, is the best part of our D and we can argue our safety play is better. We have non-existant linebackers who can't cover and miss tackles. Draft Teo, Landy Jones in the 3rd, bring in a vet QB (Rivers), and lets start building. Go Bills!
  13. Teo's leadership on and off the field SHOULD win him the heisman, but the commitee hasn't taken a defensive player since Charles Woodson I think. I haven't seen a player that defenses avoid at all cost as much as him in years. He deserves it, but won't get it. Maziel won't get it because he is a freshman, unfortunately. It will be the RB from Wisconsin most likely...IMO
  14. Should we drop more money on the DL? Let me hear your thoughts http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000101764/article/jason-babin-released-by-philadelphia-eagles
  15. I could use some help fellow bills fans. I'm coming up from Kentucky on a business trip not far from Foxboro. I have never been there for a game, much less that part of the country. I may go to the game, but rather watch it somewhere so when the Bills dominate, I'm not in a sea of angry Boston folk. Any help would be great. Thanks
  16. I'm bringin a group of 3 with me as well. When I find out more info I'll let you know. I'm in the same boat as far as tailgating
  17. Who's all going to the game this weekend? Myself and 3 others are coming up from Cincinnati and will be tailgating somewhere around 10. That "somewhere" is where I could use some help. We've never been to the glorious city of Cleveland before and would like to party with Bills fans instead of taking a chance with scattered Browns fans, who I hear do not take much to set off. Where's a good place to tailgate? Thanks. GO BILLS
  18. First post on TBD, and probably one that won't be well liked, but it looks like Holmes won't be back with the Jets next year. Simple question, would you trade our 7th round pick for him? I'm reminded of the head case Randy Moss was, but the Patriots got him for a 7th and the following year him and brady broke record after record. Is he a head case, yes, but Moss (at least for that year) produced great numbers and wasn't a locker room disturbance. I hope we re-sign Stevie, but if we don't, we need someone. If we draft a stud WR, then forget it, but I'd like to have a guy that wants to stick it to his old team twice a year. Just an idea...give me your thoughts...
  19. It's a valid argument only because the teams who consistantly win have hall of fame quarterback play (Brees, Brady, etc.), however we do not have that elite quarterback yet. The Jets tried to play the "NFL passing league" this year, and Sanchez couldn't do it. We've tried to air it out and Fitz threw a ton of picks. Being from Cincinnati, I am forced to watch the Bengals, and they made it to the playoffs ranked 20th in the pass. If we buff up our defense and control the clock with the run game (similar to what the Bengals did), we can be a legit team. I hope Fitzy can get some weapons on the outside to help us out with the passing game, but for now, having Freddy and a scat back like Spiller will have to do.
  20. I voted for Andrew Luck because he would immediately make this team into a wild card team, but it's a pipe dream. Realistically, Matt Flynn would be great as a backup. 480 yrds and 6 tds without Gennings and a game they didn't need to win...I'll take it. I can see Fitzy getting benched after the first 4 games next season, so Flynn...come to Buffalo!
