  1. So much to unpack here.

As of the end of 2023 season, there were 133 teams at the FBS level.

The proposed Super League will be comprised of 130 teams total.

That means 3 teams will be left out.

Which 3 teams are willing to take one for CFB?

The 70 teams with a fixed position are all the teams in the 2023 P5 conferences plus ND and SMU. I seriously doubt any of those teams want to leave.

(SMU was playing in a G5 conference in 2023. Why does SMU get a pass?)

Between the remaining G5 teams and the independents that leaves 63 teams.

I do not see any of the G5 conference teams willing to give up their spot.

The 3 remaining independents are Army, Uconn, and UMass.

If Army is one that has to be left out, I can easily pick out numerous teams from the G5 schools that should be tossed in favor of Army.

(Start with UB, UCF, Appalachian State, and Jacksonville State)

Quite frankly, the entire G5 programs and some of the P5 programs need to be left out.

If the NCAA goes away (which should of happened 10 years ago), what about the rest of the collegiate sports?

Will BB get it's own Super League?

Of course, there is the issue with the SEC and Big10 holding all the cards and money to CFB.

Why would they want to release any control?

They have already threatened to leave the NCAA and start their own set up.

Grab some stragglers to even up the 2 conferences, and set it up like the MLB.

Each conference plays against its own teams, and the 2 conference winners meet for the NT.

Hard Knocks has been airing since 2001.

Not a single team has made it to the SB when the were featured on HK.

The closest was the 2010 Jets. They made it to the AFC CG where they lost to the Steelers.

This belief "we get to see what goes on behind the scenes" etc,,, is all BS.

HK is like every other reality TV show.

    Media manipulated to drive "drama".

If somebody needs that kind of fake drama, go watch Wrestling.

I am a Hard No on Hard Knocks.

The NCAA became irrelevant the day they allowed Cam Newton to continue playing even when his dad admitted to shopping his kid.

I could understand if the father and son were estranged and dad was looking to use his kid to make money.

This was not the case for Cam and his dad.

I am a UCF season ticket holder and our game vs OSU was the brightest spot of the season. That being said we had played extremely poorly the two prior games and for obvious reasons you thought that was who we were.

UCF went 6-7 and lost to GT Tech in the bowl game.
    They knew who UCF was.

    They overestimated themselves.

    Rat poison will do that.

By the way, welcome to Gus Malzhan football.

I see it has only been 3 years.

You probably still think he will turn it around.

Give it 2 more years, and you will understand why Auburn fans were ready to move on from him.

    Such as?

Whether you liked the Bowls or not, they were unique to CF and only at the Div 1-A/FBS level.

No other sport had something similar.

Yes, they became irrelevant once the BCS took hold, but at least they existed as something separate.

The bows are included as part of the CFB playoffs like they mean something.

We had to have playoffs, because that's better.

    Until it wasn't "fahr".

    And it needed to expanded.

Hell, they couldn't even play 1 postseason with 12 teams before they decided it needed to expand to 14 teams.

The NCAA is now looking at adding a two minute warning and helmet communications just like the NFL.

What's next? 2 feet in for a reception? Pass interference at the spot of the foul?

Can't wait for the halftime shows during the CFB NC game.

Or the reviews of all the commercials.

The money pouring into college football is nuts.

FCS schools signing papers and affidavits saying they meet the requirements to play at the FBS level.

    Verification not needed or done.

Why? In hopes for a bigger chunk of the money.

There are very few, if any, restrictions regarding NIL or the portal.

    Athletes can now become mercenaries.

Playing for one team this year, another team next year, and yet another team the following year.

As long as the important color is "green", the uniform color is irrelevant, and always correct.

No it didn’t the players deserve to get paid for putting their body on the line every week. The only thing it hurt was some blue blood schools like Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State’s of the college football world that wanted to keep everything the way it was. With only a select few blue blood football programs playing yearly in a 4 team college football playoff where the players got nothing money wise. Now the college football playoff will be settled on the field like college basketball is in my opinion. UB Horns Up! Go Bulls! Let’s Go Buffalo

I am trying to figure out if you are delusional or ignorant due to being misinformed.

Have you not been paying attention to what's going on?

It is a massive S*** show at the moment, and none of it is good for UB, the G5 schools, or "college football" in general.

It can be argued college players have it better than the Pros.

NIL contract are 1 year deals, and unfettered free agency from the time they are eligible to play at the college level.

There is no salary cap, and very minimal roster restrictions.

Tennessee and Virginia have sued the NCAA and blocked the NCAA requirement that NIL money cannot be used as a recruitment tool.

The NCAA has recently said there are no longer going to investigate any kind of NIL money allegation.

    Expect lots of tampering.

UB does not have the resources to compete in this kind of market and without some kind of parity.

    The PAC-12? is gone.

The only option for that conference to survive is to raid the G5 conferences.

The PAC 12 originally had a TV deal offer of $23M per school via Apple.

That was with USC, UCLA, etc.

If the conference does somehow survive, kiss that deal good bye.

There are only 4 Power conferences left, and 1 of them is on shaky ground.

The Big 10 and the SEC have been talking together.

It has been reported, for the CFP expansion to 14 to happen, the SEC and Big 10 want all the guaranteed byes to go to them.

The ACC and Big 12 would be shut out.

And if they don't get it, they are willing to tell the NCAA to go pound sand and will leave.

If the SEC and the BIG 10 leave the NCAA, it will be a massive shake up in all collegiate sports, including Basketball.

I suspect the ACC will implode at that point, and all hell will break loose.

Will the bigger schools in the ACC attempt hook up with either the SEC/Big 10?

Or will they merge with the Big 12 and try to salvage what's left of the NCAA FBS Division?

Heck, will the Big 12 survive?

  7. I saw this coming when they first started talking about having a playoff period.

There is never going to a number that will satisfy everybody.

Might as well expand it 64 teams.

College football has lost a vast majority of it's uniqueness that made the sport what is was.

Seems like he is losing lots of guys.  Bama could have a pretty down year next year.  Texas is loading up and obviously Georgia is always good.

HC retired. It was expected some players will leave.

Right now, the portal is open for players exiting Bama, Udub, etc only.

Have to wait until Spring when the portal opens for all.

It appears the center from Udub is following Deboer to Bama.

    He will be an upgrade.

Lost power earlier this week for 24+ hours. With two little ones, finally going to stop “roughing it out” and get something for emergency purposes.

I am not looking for a full home generator, but something portable. I’ve been looking at dual fuel options for gas/propane but not a necessity. I am also interested in either the invertor technology or old school.

Im looking for enough Watts to run the sump pump, some lights, fridge and some iPhone chargers. Thinking 3500 running watts should be okay.

I’ve found suitable options in the $450-700 range that seem to meet these qualifications.

What do you all have? Are you happy with it? Anything I’m seeming to forget?

If you haven't already done so, look up wattage calculators online.

They will help determine the size of generator you need.

Personally, we chose a larger dual fuel generator - gas/propane.

With gas, you have be diligent in treating it for longer term storage and rotating out the old with new.

That is not a problem with propane.

As somebody else posted, eventually you will have to clean the carb when using gas.

Do you want to be doing that at 10 Pm when its freezing out and you need it running?

You can buy 20lb, 40lb and 100lb tanks from different places. (i.e Tractor Supply and Ace Hardware near us)

You can transport 20 and 40lb tanks inside a vehicle, but 100lb tanks need to be transported out side the vehicle.

Near us, there a number of places that refill propane tanks based on the amount needed to fill the tank.

Far cheaper than those propane tank exchanges.

When you want to up your preparedness game, get a Kill-A-Watt meter like this one:

    https://www.amazon.com/P3-International-P4460-Electricity-Monitor-dp-B000RGF29Q/dp/B000RGF29Q/ref=dp_ob_title_hi?th=1

That way you can measure how much wattage each device is actually using.

Look into Solar generators as a supplement to your current (or soon to be) generator set up.

They can be recharged either through solar panels or plugging into an electrical outlet.

I would take Sark, but that would be on heck of bidding war.

  12. Let the dark ages begin, and the gnashing of the teeth.

Saban is the GOAT and exceeded my expectations by a long shot.

I can still remember when they hired him to that 8 year contract(s).

    I was stoked.

I figured he would get 1 NC during his 8 years.

But 3? At that point, I was like sit back and enjoy it. Everything else is just gravy at that point,

I can assure you that FSU based on information is much more likely to end up in the Big 10 than the SEC.  Even if ESPN came back to the ACC and said lets renegotiate, I dont believe FSU would stay. They are done with the conference unless they get an absolute sweetheart deal.

Unless I am mistaken, one of the requirements for entrance into the Big 10 is the schools membership in the AAU.

FSU is not in the AAU.

On paper, U/Miami would be a better option.

A footprint in FL, a major TV market, and an AAU member.

The Rumors are that the SEC is much more interested in UVA and UNC than they are in FSU/Clemson while the Big 10 appears to really want FSU first and then will figure out their travel partner. Do not sleep on the possibility of Georgia Tech as FSUs partner to the Big 10.

The ACC added SMU/Cal/Stanford to keep the conference together and to keep their current media contract.

I suspect you will see FSU/Another ACC team to the Big 10(most likely either UNC/VA/or Georgia Tech

The SEC will try to add UNC/UVA

If the big 10 and SEC take 2 , which I think is likely, don't be surprised if the Big 12 tries to come in and snipe 4 more from the ACC to get themselves also to 20 teams.

And they will sign a new deal with the new place that most of the teams land.  There are only so many landing places in the existing conferences.  FSU wants to go to the SEC, they'd probably need a buddy to go with them.  Who in the ACC makes sense for that? For TV it's probably Carolina or Duke but I can't see the two of them voluntarily splitting up. For football it's probably Clemson but that doesn't add the most TV money.  Possibly Miami but they don't really fit into what the rest of the SEC is school wise and IDK if Florida would be super keen on having both FSU and Miami in conference. Virginia theoretically gets you the DC TV market.  Syracuse and BC are non-starters.

I think the ACC could survive without FSU and Virginia.  You'd see them pick up UCF to keep the Florida footprint maybe court WVU away from the Big 12, maybe lean on ND to become a full member.

I don't think UNC walks away from Duke. I might be wrong, but UNC in the SEC would be a perpetual bottom dweller in football and they'd lose a lot in basketball. What they might make in added TV money for football, they'd risk in losing bowl eligibility basically forever.

Clemson and UNC are state schools btw.

That would be a neat trick, considering UCF started playing in the Big XII conference this year.

The ACC isn't sniping UCF any time soon.

FSU may want to be in the SEC, but they offer very little to the SEC.

Its an outdated model/organization more concerned about holding onto power.

I have been advocating for the top schools to leave the NCAA since 2013.

This latest proposal hasn't changed my mind.

Everything being proposed can be done without NCAA involvement.

But that doesn’t make them NFL it’s still minor league football we will see if there are enough fans that want to pay steaming money to watch that in the future with a smaller number of schools fan bases.

    There will be enough fans.

Do not underestimate the following of the larger schools.

In parts of this country, college football is king.
