This is why I read every post saying "but the cap, guys..." in a whiny little voice when it comes to the Bills making moves.
Beane needs to figure it out. This is the competition. There are no "luxuries." The whole damn league is a luxury.

Dawkins is literally everything you want in a LT

Sal C keeps making the rounds on sports shows making this comparison, and honestly I find it a little embarrassing to listen to.
Look, I love Josh Allen and the Bills, but this team hasn't accomplished jack squat. Zilch. It's a step above Denver's purge, because these guys played in some playoff games.
Time passes and people forget just how incredible those 90's Bills team were, loaded with HOF players and borderline HOF guys, with a HOF coach and HOF GM (for the beginning of the run).
4 straight Super Bowls vs losing in the Divisional round every year. It is not the same.

let's see.. trade a very good to great LT, create a huge roster hole, then we can hear about how everything we need to help Josh Allen is a "luxury we can't afford" even more than we do now.
In short, no.

(5) Herbert: I could see it. Harbaugh is the real deal.
(4) Jackson: he is an electric player, fun to watch, but struggles in the playoffs generally. Still, he's a lightning bolt, and if everything lines up at the right time he could absolutely do it. Good HC, solid defense, solid team overall. Hard to root against Lamar, unless it's vs the Bills.
(3) Burrow: I could also see it. Guy has been a winner his entire football life. HC doesn't impress me, though. (Insert name here) would also win lots of games with Burrow and 10 #1 WRs on offense.
(2) Purdy: Not going to happen... A product of his surroundings. Sorry Purdy fans.
(1) Love: Sorry, I don't buy the hype. He had a nice second half of the year, for sure. If Cousins doesn't get hurt we're not having this conversation, because they wouldn't even be in the playoffs. Remember when Green Bay was basically giving up on the year halfway through?
I wouldn't say Allen right now, because I think the team is going to be in tough this year. Have to wait to see free agency and the draft though. But so much can happen with injuries around the league, teams looking better or worse than we thought, trades, etc.

Payton was such a weird fit in Denver, IMO
Same with Harbaugh on the Chargers. Could some top QBs and HCs go the NFC at some point, please?
It creates a world where the AFC is a buzzsaw to get anywhere, while in the NFC a team with a losing record could easily be the 7th seed.

I just looked up this Sweat kid...
DRAFT HIM NOW! We can work to help him fill out a bit more.
I mean, I would settle for 360 given his athleticism. Him + Oliver would be amazing on the DL

who is this year's 330+ pound guy who might be a bit slim at age 22 but could bulk up to 350+ and become the next Mt. Washington at DT?

I have never understood the term "luxury pick"
Do we want to WIN a Super Bowl or not?
That term suggests that we're just trying to survive, man, and do some stuff here and there.
Meanwhile, the Bengals will draft another WR and have like 5 #1 WR for Burrow and continue to beat us in the playoffs while we settle for the Gentleman's B in life.
Being great and winning it all requires some guts.

Also of interest to me: The Chiefs players giving their team owner an F-.
F- !!!
Did the Hunt family personally slap the players' wives? Like...F- is BAD, man.Agree the Chiefs ratings are interesting for a team that keeps winning Super Bowls especially...
Head Coach A+
Ownership F-
Plus a lot of low ratings. Basically, they love Andy Reid but hate the rest of it

Doug Pederson and Nick Foles won a Super Bowl together, and it was over Belichick and Brady.
It's not crazy at all to think McDermott and Allen can win once, especially since it can't be against KC.
Lions?
49ers?
Eagles?
Cowboys?
Rams?
I'm not scared.

the 1st gets attention for obvious reasons, but man... that 4th one hurts
They 100% should have won the 4th. If you watch that documentary it makes it even more clear. Dallas players were like "well, they are finally going to get one" because Aikman was concussed badly and couldn't understand play calls, the Bills were dominating the game (but not the score).
We freaking had that 4th one. up 13-7, driving... then one fumble happened and undid it all.
BTW, those kinds of fumbles NEVER happen anymore. Top RBs used to fumble back then, not often, but often compared to today.

Reid was in the top 10 all-time in HC wins before Mahomes was even drafted.
Uncrowned GOAT. That Tampa/KC Super Bowl is a bummer, because the rings chase could be 6-4 right now but that goes both ways.
Reid will retire with every record, except SB rings because the AFC is just too good for them to keep getting there enough times in the next 5-6 years.
Mahomes will likely tie Brady or get close (IMO) but he has 15+ years left to do that. Reid has 5-6 probably.

I kind of like this kickoff. Makes the return an actual play and hopefully prevents full speed collisions

Because when Sean Payton left the front office and coaches didn’t want to take their medicine with a rebuild and made wild decisions that should be reserved for teams with at least a chance to compete.
they continue To do so
in their defense, in the NFC South 6-11 has a chance to win the division.

I agree earlier when you said that McD is at least trying to be less conservative with the playcalling and play scheming, but i think some of his calls are without a doubt, questionable.
I mean, i have no problem with being aggressive. In fact, i would rather lose a game from being too aggressive than too passive or having idiotic playcalling TBH. A fake punt within your own 30 yard line and you don't put it in your playmakers hands but give it to a guy who played in 2 snaps all season?......like come on, man. McD, what the hell were you thinking?!?
I am trying to give McD the benefit of the doubt these days, but he's making it real hard.
I think it's so against his natural instincts that he's doing what he thinks he should do to be more aggressive.
That fake punt was a disaster, but maybe it does show that he is at least trying to evolve. I have high hopes that he is the type of coach who will allow himself to grow and get better.
This offseason and next season's offense will tell the tale. He did say in his end of the season presser that he believes that you win by passing the ball. We'll see if he really meant it soon by what the team does in free agency and the draft!
He has to commit to doing what needs to be done to avoid losing over and over in the playoffs.

another thing here, having Henry in those situations stops Josh from having to be the guy taking that pounding, which is something the FO wants. Let him be free on passing downs to take a lane if there, but no need on short yards of under 5. We could pound Henry.
Love it! And Cook, Allen and Henry all stay fresher for the stretch run
Give the king 10 touches a game, max, unless circumstances warrant it and ramp up in late December/early January so he's near full strength when the games are biggest
In the old days guys would push back on that, but these days younger players understand and appreciate load management a lot more
The goal is 20 carries for the king to ice the AFC Title Game in Orchard Park once we're up multiple scores

Yup, that speed you speak of comes from the Brown / Sanders replacement, that has yet to happen. Just think of our offense with Diggs, (the new John Brown), Shakir, Kincaid, and Knox, catching the ball, add in the RBs and ya got a pick your poison scenario for defenses, God I hope Beane out does himself in this regard…, we really need this to happen.
and Henry... I would LOVE to have the big man pounding the rock when we need the tough yards or need to ice the game

A fake punt within his own 30 yard line, not with JA, not with Cook, not even Diggs.......with Hamlin.
And.....nothing more needs to be said here.
yeah, not a great decision there for sure
That's the weird thing about McDermott that I think he needs to work on. His decisions to take a risk sometimes come out of nowhere and seem so counter to what he is all about. Like he's forcing it a little bit.

People forget that the original USFL had real football players who were stars:
Jim Kelly
Steve Young
Sam Mills
Reggie White
Herschel Walker
Gary Zimmerman
Kent Hull
Doug Flutie
and many more... I just picked a handful that stood out to me
Levy and Polian worked as coach/executive
There were real star players and executives involved. It wasn't guys who can't even make an NFL practice squad.
That's the real issue facing spring football, IMO.
It's hard to imagine an equivalent today, with a bunch of really solid, well-known players with a few huge names and older coaches added in to sell tickets.

IF we're going to keep Diggs, we need to find a way to add 2 more legit playmakers to go along with Shakir
Evans and a rookie would be great. Or the 2024 versions of Sanders and Brown (not sure who that would be) who could be brought in for a reasonable price.

This, except we only replaced the Beasley part of those losses, Shakir is the new 3/4 WR, replacing Davis…, we still don’t have the Brown or Sanders replacement, this needs to be addressed this off season, jmo.
we REALLY need some speed at WR.
It feels like we never hit a deep ball anymore, and it used to be a big part of the offense.

Exactly that's my point! His ceiling was a fairly consistent playmaker if he has enough support around him, why did we pay him elite TE money?! It is a disgusting contract any way you look at it, even getting full leniency for injuries, death of his brother etc. It's awful, awful. GM malpractice really. Beane has been so damn good it's just shocking, that's why I can't get over it. Miller was an elite player and it was risky contract but at least I understand the roll of the dice there.
I feel like I've never seen Kittle have a big game

I do worry a bit about this. "Josh will take care of it" seems to be the plan far too often. Just like "Aaron will make it work" was in GB.
The problem is once the playoffs start elite teams will have answers for that.
Look at GB now. Young QB so they suddenly start drafting WRs in rounds 1 and 2 to surround him with. You know, to help him succeed and all.
