  1. Whoever is against the stadium deal should just say "I want the Bills to leave WNY" Either this deal happens or the team leaves. There is no "yeah but" where NFL owners suddenly have an epiphany and realize how awful it is to take public money. At least be honest. There is no reality where you're in favor of the team staying but don't want to use massive amounts of public money. That world doesn't exist, so it's pointless to keep writing articles about it.
  2. I want Poyer and Hyde out there on their 60th birthdays... We are going to miss having such good safety play for so long. Great safeties are hard to find, let alone 2 at the same time.
  3. Rams GM is salivating at the mere thought of being able to trade all those picks away! LOL "If only I had all those picks..."
  4. I think it's more likely that Allen wins a Lombardi than an MVP. Although the view of Allen is changing, let's remember that for a few glorious (for him, meaning Schopp) weeks to start the 2021 season Schopp and all the stat geeks with their Excel spreadsheets were telling us "this is who Allen is" and saying that 2020 was a fluke, an outlier, and he was really the QB we saw for the first few weeks of the 2021 season. The contract might have been a mistake, etc. Then of course things turned around but there were some weird games in there like Jacksonville too. That was a handful of months ago, so for many, the KC playoff game didn't totally answer all the questions about Allen. That's the MVP part. Rodgers will throw pretty passes, pretend to be all intellectual, never throw a pick, and look the part of the MVP. The thing about Allen is that he is the anti-Rodgers. Allen is a gamer who plays his best when the stakes are highest. Every year we hear about how Rodgers is the best QB in the league from so many yet he plays like garbage in the playoffs every year. It's one thing to lose playoff games, but he doesn't show up. Allen is the opposite. That's why I say he's more likely to get the Lombardi than the MVP. Gabe Davis is the same way. We've got a QB and a WR who play a completely different game when the lights are brightest, and that is great news!
  5. I hope if the Bills win the Super Bowl fans don't boo the Pegulas at the parade... The level of animosity towards them is just plain stupid. They 100% saved the Bills and Sabres from moving. So the Sabres have stunk for a while. It's not like they didn't spend $$ on the Sabres. It's just that somehow NOTHING worked until (hopefully) recently, when they ironically stopped doing that.
  6. Right! Owens would be great for USFL. WTF is "fan controlled football?"
  7. The big difference is that aside from their pathetic division, Tampa has to play an actual NFL schedule this year. It's loaded with top teams. Chiefs Cowboys Packers AFC North NFC West Last year it was cupcake after cupcake for them. AFC East and NFC East, plus a 2nd place schedule and their division opponents. And they still didn't get the #1 seed then. Look at their 2021 schedule. It was a joke: https://www.buccaneers.com/news/bucs-2021-opponents-nfl-information-nfc-afc vs 2022: https://www.buccaneers.com/news/tampa-bay-2022-opponents-nfl-information-nfc-afc
  8. I'm certainly not a guy who wants to defend Belichick, but he has 8 Super Bowl rings and he was instrumental in all 8. I think he's OK. Belichick was winning Super Bowls before Brady was even in the league. His defensive Game plan for the Bills/Giants SB is (unfortunately) legendary. All I'm saying is that there is this narrative because Brady won in Tampa Bay it somehow "proves" that he was the one mostly responsible for their success in NE. You want to talk about "catching a break" how about facing KC in the SB when they had 3rd string players at almost every OL position and a coach who just blew up their game prep by nearly killing a child in a drunk driving crash. Mahomes was running for his life every play because Tampa's DL was a Pro Bowl roster and KC's backups on the OL couldn't block. But all Brady. Again.
  9. For all the people suddenly worrying about public money, look at how much $$ went into "extending" the 219 to the middle of freaking nowhere and just stopping pretty much for good because who knows why. a handful of years ago they built a brand new expensive bridge for the 219 to travel a few thousand feet, then exit onto the same road that already had a bridge over the same area. They are literally right next to each other. Politicians showed up to be seen, have their picture taken, and take that exciting ride from Springville to just outside of Springville, where they then exit and drive down the road that was already there serving the same purpose. LOL you can't make this stuff up. Bridges to nowhere are a thing all over the country. Totally bizarre. We don't even notice because it's so common. Either extend it to Salamanca as originally planned or don't bother. But that's how our Gov't works. More multi million dollar studies and decades of talking (and paying full salaries) for people to do nothing. Then waste a ton of money to accomplish practically nothing. Nobody even blinks an eye. At least this stadium will get built and serve some purpose for the community.
  10. It seemed like when we were struggling we could switch to "throw to Beasley" and he was open and caught it every time. Sad to see him go, but obviously teams aren't looking to throw big $$ his way
  11. The Patriots came close to the #1 seed in the AFC this season with Mac freaking Jones at QB. We're the better team, but they are not a joke.
  12. Belichick's defenses won 3-4 Super Bowls between the Giants and Patriots, if not more. So I would pump the brakes on "it was all Brady" or even mostly Brady. The first couple NE SB wins were mostly defense, as was the last Rams/Ne SB that was unwatchably awful. 3-0 going into the 4th quarter. That was all Brady too I guess? The first pass he threw in that SB was intercepted and he did practically nothing the entire game. Meanwhile, over-rated Bill pitched a near shutout of the Rams high flying offense. But again, all Brady! Brady has as many rings as he does BECAUSE he had a coach that treated him like any other player and forced him to toe the line and buy in.
  13. So they don't count? Really? Peyton went to 4, won 2 with 2 different teams and it's "yeah but he couldn't win big games"
  14. I would think the opening of the conversation is 10% more than the Watson deal, all guaranteed. Lamar has been league MVP and has never caused any trouble on or off the field.
  15. That's good. Maybe that's a newer thing, because we've been in WNY for many years now so between cable for Bills games and Red Zone I've never had any need for it. IMO Red Zone is amazing and much better (and cheaper) if you just want to follow the league action on Sundays.
  16. Oh it's total luck with no logic behind it! We've lived all over the US for our work over the past 20+ years, so just for fun I put in some of our old addresses into the Sunday Ticket streaming website to see if Direct TV would do us the immense favor of allowing us to purchase this streaming product. Some addresses that were single family homes we rented would have worked, and some not. Some apartment type buildings would have worked, some not. No logic at all. In fact, one place the house we rented came with a Dish attached, which the previous owner left when he bought a new house and rented us that one. We subscribed to Direct TV because there was no cable in that area. When I checked years later, that was one of the addresses that was "eligible" for streaming only package! LOL
  17. This is the biggest lie that Direct TV puts out there. 100% completely false. We went round and round with those idiots when we lived out of state. If they determine that your address CAN get Direct TV service (even if you live in an apartment building where you CAN'T) they will not let you sign up for streaming Sunday Ticket at any price. I even offered to just pay the Direct TV subscription rate and keep the boxes of crap in my closet since we were not allowed to install it on our high rise apartment building, not that it was even possible. No dice. The moron reading the script kept repeating that according to their records, CONGRATULATIONS! We are eligible for Direct TV service! So we couldn't just do streaming. Once we got to the manager and I explained he said we couldn't do my plan (give Direct TV free money and just not get service, just so that I could then subscribe to streaming to see the Bills games). Someone had to come install the equipment. I told them yet again: we lived in a high rise and we are not allowed to install dishes on the building. He said according to their system we were eligible for service. Such a stupid, inflexible, idiotic company. Dumber than rocks. Instead of all that $$ they got ZERO. Every time I see/hear "You now don't need Direct TV to subscribe to Sunday Ticket streaming!" I want to scream. Thank God we now live in WNY and can see the games. Yes, I know that's what they SAY and ADVERTISE. I've seen it 1000 times (even tried it!). Every time we pay our insane cable bill it warms my heart to think not a penny of that $$ is going to Direct TV. I wouldn't do business with them if they paid us to subscribe.
  18. stadium cost have gotten dumb... Check out this list: https://www.stadiumsofprofootball.com/comparisons/ Lincoln Financial Field cost $518 million. Arizona's crazy stadium with the roll out field cost $455 million. An open air stadium in the Buffalo market costs 1.4 BILLION? In 10 years a stadium will be 2+ billion at a minimum. Team costs will be 5-6 billion.
  19. True! That's also crazy to even imagine
  20. I wonder how many Brady's have been missed throughout the years. Mediocre physical skills coming in. Mediocre physique coming in. Nothing special at all. Gets into Belichick's system, buys in, but still does very little for many years but rides the coattails of Belichick's defense to a lot of wins. With confidence and those wins he is now a "winner" and is able to grow as a player but also become more confident and inspire confidence in teammates. What is that same Brady was drafted by the Lions and thrown right into the starting job day 1? Same career? If not, then why? It was all Brady after all.
  21. What about Belichick's 2 SB titles with the Giants? I, like many sports fans, sat there at the end of this year's NE/TB game wide eyed as Nick Folk's kick sailed wide of the upright and said almost in awe "so it was all Brady..." Without Belichick, Brady wins 2-3 Super Bowls his entire career. Now every player in the league will take league minimum to play with Grandpa so he can have a Pro Bowl roster playing for peanuts, but that doesn't happen without all the NE success.
  22. It's amazing to me that the goal posts were ever right in the middle of the endzone. Nobody in the NFL/AFL thought that was a bad idea? Such a ridiculous design flaw, not to mention dangerous.
  23. I have a revolutionary idea for the NFL streaming package: NFL names a price. If a consumer is willing to pay that price, then the consumer can buy the product. That's the end of it. No need for 5 pages of fine print full of "yeah buts" and "if thens" I know, it's crazy!
  24. Others have answered it already, but if you take the ball 1st you're in a conundrum every 4th down, whereas the other team can play 4 down football, unless you don't score at all. There's a lot of strategy involved that makes it interesting. I could totally see the logic in taking the ball 1st, but I could also see the advantage of having it second. If I win the toss and kick, it's because I know that if you score a TD I'm going for 2 if I score a TD as well. I also have 4 downs every drive, for sure. Plus, my chances of getting 2 yards for 2 2 PT conversion with my best players are better than the chances of my exhausted defense preventing you from getting a FG (or more) on your second OT drive.
  25. That makes sense too... Actually this could get interesting. If you take the ball 1st, you would get a potential 3rd possession if both teams score a TD. However, if you don't score a TD you are on the line to get beat by 1 play. A lot depends on the type of game. If it's a KC/BUF type game then you probably take the ball 1st since defense was not being played. But it's extremely unusual to see a TD-TD-TD type game. But in most games, I would still expect teams to choose to kick, because then they know what they need to win.
