  1. Kaelin Clay must have something we have not seen yet.  Not saying he is any part of he answer, really have no idea.  But I do find it interesting that, being familiar with him, Bean and McDermott trade for him.  Then injuries force them to expose him and Carolina grabs him right back.  Then we swipe him back.  Either we and Panthers are Robert Woods crazy or kid has something.  Poster above makes an interesting point about Dupree too.  I agree with MJS - we can limp by for a year.

I looked last night for WR's that fit the Beane/McDermott profile we are starting to see.

I couldn't help but stop at Justin Watson.  Big, athletic with a high work ethic.

    Maybe in the 5th?

    Overview
Big, productive receiver with good football character who has upped his draft slotting with a eye-opening pro day. Watson dominated cornerbacks in the Ivy League, but may not have the suddenness to get off press or the acceleration to uncover against tight man coverage. His size and ball skills are intriguing, but he'll need to prove this his athletic testing can carry-over onto the field. He's a likely day three selection whose size, speed and explosion numbers could give him a bigger push than expected.
    Strengths
    • Very good NFL size with muscular, well-proportioned frame
    • Outstanding football character with first-in, last-out mentality
    • Posted three years of heavy production and scored at least one touchdown in each game this year
    • Sinks hips into breaks for sudden stops
    • Ball skills are solid
    • Ball tracking comes easily
    • Finds it early and can bring it in over his shoulder
    • Quick to snatch and tuck
    • Makes late contortions to the ball to bring it in
    • Consistent to secure throws both high and low
    • Has awareness to drop feet near sideline
    • Ran a 4.4 forty and posted a 40" vertical leap to wow teams at his pro day
    Weaknesses
    • Despite monster testing numbers, doesn't move with desired suddenness
    • Level of competition at cornerback didn't offer challenging looks
    • Needs stronger upfield push into his routes
    • Has to prove he won't get glued to press off release
    • Needs to prove he can run more of the route tree
    • Room for improvement in setting up route breaks
    • Doesn't run with much elusiveness after the catch

Interesting, thanks for posting.  Check out Valdes-Scantling, who I mentioned in another post.  High character guy and off the chart measurables.

    Panthers on the clock!

Well this is just all type of wrong. The Bill's absolutely need WRs.

I assume you were not responding to my post above yours as the first line says "we need more wideouts" --

Having said that, one other thing:  Makes no sense restocking the wideouts before we can stop the run.  We got absolutely punked on the ground by Saints/Chargers.  If you can't stop the run you don't get the ball back to use the wideouts.  We have taken care of that.  I think it is ridiculous to assume Beane and McDermott do not understand exactly what they need and want at wideout.  They will fix it.  Trust the Process!

It's amazing that people are actually agreeing with the OP.  As  the roster stands now, the Bills WR receiving corp is easily bottom 5 in the league.

Need at least 1 speed guy who can catch.    It would be nice to have a little talent to at least give McCarron a fighting chance to prove himself as a starting QB.

We need more wideouts, but they may not get here this year and that is okay.  It is tough to even evaluate what we have.  I really liked TT, but my man could just not get the ball out.  I think Clay is very underrated.  First, dude is a warrior - blocks like a beast and plays even though his knees are falling off.  Second, and more relevant to the OP, can't say how many times I saw him running open on a intermediate seam route with serious RAC potential and - Tyrod runs.  Same with Shady.  He proved in Philly he can take it to the house on a wheel  route but TT could not lay it on him down the field.  AJ and Allen can make those throws.  So I was more saying - we are not devoid of weapons.  Add to Shady and Clay that Benjamin is good and Zay may be (and that Reilly might be good too), and we could have an okay aerial attack while we work to get our Julio Jones or AJ Green true #1.

  4. Had seen the testing video discussed in the Eisen clip, but had not seen that actual follow-up interview before.  How can you not get excited when they say "his .38 second release time is like Aaron Rogers only with much better arm strength", and then go on to say he is very accurate.  How can you not be excited when Dilfer says "I went in skeptical . . . but when you see Allen move and throw it feels like the greatest guys I played with, it feels like Farve and Elway."  That to me is just incredible.  Thanks for posting.

  5. Ros

You get too wrapped up in a personality horse race. Relax. Someday your QB needs to step on the field and play football. Rosen at this point is miles ahead in that dept.

This is a totally false narrative.  In a pressured situation Allen can complete passes off-platform like no other QB in the draft (the 65 yard toss show in one of the clips proves it.  Ironically he should have stepped up and NOT thrown that off platform because he didn't have to.  But it proved the ability).  Rosen is a punk, and Allen is well ahead of him right now.  With the bullets flying Allen would outplay him - see the senior bowl tape.

  6. Allen is the guy we needed.  I really wanted him or Darnold for months.  Browns take Baker - and I am like, er, okay.  C'mon Beane, get 'er done with Giants!  They take Barkley.  Well, okay, I can see that.  Praying Jets take Rosen - but they take Darnold!  Oh no, now only the guy I want most is left.  Very, very nervous.  C'mon Beane, get 'er done with Browns at 4 - ALLEN.  No Trade - OH NO!  DOOMED!  Stupid Browns take a DB.  THANK GOD!  I am now in full sweat.  Denver needs a QB.  PLEASE take the CHUBB MAN!  PLEASE, please, one time.  They do!  And I think we are done now, gotta trade with the Colts, right?  But the pick is in!  We know it is not a QB.  BEANE!  FOR THE LOVE OF GOODNESS, HE IS SITTING RIGHT THERE!  Don't get greedy!  I get a text saying we traded with Tampa, but TV has not said it yet. PLEASE.  Then trade is announced.  And I am all like, JUST NOT ROSEN!  Allen, Allen, Allen!  Screaming at the TV.  And they did it.  Can't believe it.  And Edmunds and Harrison?  OMG!

Need a WR?  Of course they do.  Is this the 1970s?

Of course they do, but we should Trust the Process!  Tough to judge what we have now given TT's inability to deliver the ball.  We still have Shady, Clay, Benjamin, Kerley  and Zay.  We are not devoid of weapons.  They need more, but this roster was disgusting (IMHO) when McDermott took over.  We are on our way and they will get what we need - but maybe not all done this year.

  8. Not saying we are all good, but OP has a point.  And don't sleep on Brandon Reilly.  I think he will be a good one.  The other thing is - WRs seem to be pricey and therefore a few always seem to be camp cuts.  I think we will be okay.  If there is a guy we like take him, but no need to reach.

  9. Allen will fit right in here, best QB in the draft AND best QB for our squad.  I think Beane and McDermott may be the best duo in the league.  What they have done is simply amazing.  All three picks are high character, high motor, leadership guys (which is a great think unless they are Tim Anderson).  They manufactured the Allen pick principally out of guys they did not want (Sammy, Cordy and Mahomes plus our own 2nd became Josh Allen).  It is unbelievable to me they had enough to get Edmunds and Harrison.  Josh Allen is going to earn the respect of his teammates and grow to become their leader.

  10. Allen is going to be the greatest thing that happened to the Bills since Jim Kelly (other than our beloved owners stopping Trump or Bon Jovi from getting our team)

All three guys we took are huge character guys.  Leaders that work their tails off.  To go with existing highest possible character guys ranging from Zo and Kyle to Milano and Tre White.  This is a very, very easy team to like.

Just real good stuff here, I see Kirk becoming a coach or going Into broadcasting when he is done. Allen is a late bloomer. Really the guy believes in himself. 1,000 letters sent out and not one scholarship. How good was his coachinghsve been at Jr. College. Wyoming is not a guru of coaching talent. This guy is just beginning to see his potential.  Jordon Palmer really got him squared away on his base and foot work. It showed at the senior bowl with near 70 percent completion and 2 TD’s. He seems humble and all about the team. I get a good vibe nothing has ever been handed to him. He has had to fight for everything he has gotten. We are lucky to have him his arm talent if Fave and Elway lethal. Guy had the best wonderlic score. Man his potential could be off the charts. Maybe beane and company really do know what there doing.

    Well said.

He hit the receiver in stride, 65 yards down field, without good mechanics and while falling backward.  Geez Louise.  And you're worried about style points?

I'm not sure he's going to be a good draft pick but it will be fun to watch.

I had not seen that throw before.  Absolutely ridiculous!!!

Man, I would be he will be a great draft pick.  Maybe our best of all time.  Coachable, will fix his platform.  Smart, tough, strong as an ox.
