  1. I felt like Josh took the easy throw almost the entire game last night (and was very good at them) except for basically 3 throws. Look at his spray chart.

It was just that the three times he didnt it was a pick. On the int that was to Davis he had Kincaid underneath that would have likely been a first too.

But this idea that he was reckless all night isnt accurate. He took the easy stuff most of the night, I think he almost gets bored though.

Agreed. Both in terms of LB issues and the DL getting blown off the LOS more often than not. There's also nothing to suggest they'll have any semblance of a consistent pass rush. A breakout year from Rousseau is critical.

One x-factor is scheme. Were so used to Frazier being here but we dont know what the McD defense will look like.

Its literally because of one player my friend.

They are going to cut Josh's career short by 5 years if they dont protect him with a line and better scheme.

Can you imagine this team without Josh Allen?

Can you imagine any team without their Franchise QB? What are we even saying here? We have better skill position players than the Chiefs FWIW. What are the Bengals doing without Burrow, how is their O-line? Burrow was sacked 41 times last year (6th in the league) and they beat our brains in in the playoffs.

Every single fan base hates their O-line. Josh runs out of clean pockets all the time.

Todays league is about having a high powered offense and we continue to neglect that

Continue to neglect that...by having a top 3 offense in the league every year? 29 other teams are envious of our offense

I really dont see a path for our offense to be worse than last year. Status quo I can comprehend but not worse than having to sign Brown/Cole late in the season. And that offense was top 3 in almost every metric.

The defense has many more pathways to being worse statistically than last year (No Edmunds, aging secondary, Von out for significant time, change at DC). Im not saying it will happen but the pathways are there more-so than the offense. That said I will take that if they can situationally show up when it matters in the playoffs.

End of the day ill take improved offense and worse defense any day.

How is he #2 in round 3? Love the Knox pick but he has not been that great(only good by Bills TE historical perspective). Moss was terrible.  Singletary just average. Phillips was not good but did get a second contract for the Vikings. Jury is still very much out on Brown.

Wait until Bernard is out of the league next year and he will drop.

Now do all the other teams...

I agree. Defensively in the playoffs we just haven't gotten that key sack or int in crunch time.  Other than Taron's pic6 it's been basically crickets playoff time.

To me the nail in the coffin was that the Bengals were starting 3 backups or backups-of-backups on the O-line still bullied our line and Burrow dices us up. It wasnt even a stalemate, we had nothing. And then the Chiefs, who were statistically a worse defense, handled them. It doesnt matter about regular season stats its about handling the team in the moment and having individual game wreckers.

They learned their lesson with Tre last year - they wasted a roster spot with him, when he should have been on the PUP list to start the season too.

He was on PUP to stary the season. They just brought him off to practice and he took a roster spot for like 3 games or something.

I'm confused did fans think he was going to play week 1?

they basically have been saying all offseason/summer they will play cautious with him.

No but if he wasnt on the PUP list he can still practice and come back at some point in the first 4 week. Now he cant even practice for the first 4 games. After that it will likely be 1-2 weeks before he plays. This move sets his timeline more or less to miss 6 games.

The hashes being spaced differently also has a much bigger impact on the college game and how it transfers to the NFL than most people think.

Yea theres much more space to run on the far side of the field. If you get a couple O-linemen out ahead of a fast QB/RB on a pull sweep concept they can really take off. Plus the QB play in college is generally worse so running becomes more efficient than running in the NFL.

Why is offensive line play so bad in general?

Is it that big talented athletes gravitate toward defense so there just isn't a pool of available talent? If so, shouldn't this be self-adjusting (for example, the Spencer Brown types bulking up and moving to the O line from defense or TE?) Do we need rule changes to reestablish some kind of balance?

My understanding based on reading/hearings things over the years: College football (and HS) went to spread offenses in the 2000s and quickly that offense became popular in the NFL. The spread offense is still popular in college with some adjustments and has success so players want to play on winning teams. The main thing there is to get people in space, even when they run the ball it is getting the O-line downfield. Therfore the priority is leaner faster players that can run on the O-line. This body style is what will get you recruited to top NCAA programs so that is the body type the top HS players go for. The big fat boys arent recruited as highly. The top programs feed into the NFL. The leaner, faster O-lineman arent as capable to just anchor and block, theyre trained to run more.

The flipside of this is the hulking neckroll downhill LB. That player isnt useful against a spread offense where you need lateral quickness so it went away and a Nickel DB is now a base defense.

Remember the days when we would argue about 3-4 or 4-3. Now we are only have 2 starting LBs.

Its all just long term trends.

I really like the Kincaid pick. I also liked Zay Flowers and Jack Campbell. Both were long gone though. At the time and now, I think it was a fine pick.

My only contention is how Bills fans are saying he's the next Kelce. The ceiling is very high and I'm optimistic that he will do well. But come on now let's see how it plays out. That's all I'm saying.

Seems like youre cherry picking the 3-5 Bills fan that say he will be the next Kelce. The vast majority thinks he has a high ceiling and are optimistic and think he will do well

Eh, depends on the int. If it’s like 3rd and long in your 30 and Allen throws a bomb that get picked, I agree.

but turnovers in plus territory and the red zone are certainly worth points.

a punt is a turnover in the same way.

Burrow - 9 TDs and 4 INT in 7 playoff games.

Allen - 17 TD and 4 INT in 8 playoff games.

It’s a team sport, and our defense has shown up less than the Bengals defense.

Obviously the entire team didn’t show up this past divisional round, but you need to look at the body of work.

No you must not remember when Joe Burrow shut down Mahomes in the AFC Championship game and had the interception in OT. Also when Joe Burrow ran back a fumble for 98 yards when they were about to lose to a third string QB.

I could not agree more.  All player performances aside, this is a huge red flag.

Allen has always had a tendency for happy feet in the pocket because of his athleticiscm. When he doesnt trust the protection he will bail early. What that means is that he will bail early out of clean pockets as well. That hurts the Oline play. Its a viscous cycle.
