I mean, weren’t they both 52 or 53 yarders? That’s probably not much over 50% at best, considering the venue and weather. Getting tails twice in a row isn’t cause for concern. Obviously neither miss helped anyone’s stress level at the time, but neither one looked to me like a full-on shank. Both looked live like okay kicks when a really good kick was needed.

Bass was 11-16 at 50+ over his career before the game. Much better odds than 50/50. Weather plays a role for sure but it was very uncharacteristic to miss both.

Not ruled out, but two straight DNP for a guy coming off playing 87% snaps and dinged up, with a game the following Thursday…

Just doesn’t bode well for having him full strength. Maybe they’re just giving him extended rest? We’ll see.

Either way, no Ed WOULD hurt big time, if the speculative is more accurate.

If we cant beat the Pats, even without Ed, then were in trouble. They went 10 straight quarters without a TD.

This has to be a startment game by the bills get the funk out of your system on offense. And show all 3 phases of the game.

I remember having this same thought almost every week last season. "This is the get-right game!" and then it never came.

I am not down on Dorsey overall because this season is more than just the last two games, but if 2 games becomes 3, 4, 5 then it is the same cycle as last year. Start hot and then the offense stalls and becomes a slog every game. Dorsey needs to show that the ship can be righted.

Compare that Justin Zimmer running full bore

I was watching some highlights from old games we won and now I cant help but notice how tentative he looks. Its such a stark difference between him and Bernard being instinctive.

I thought about moving them down one but I guess my thing is they are the only team in that division whose QB is functioning and playing at a high level, their defense is usually pretty good, and their already 2-0 in division. Don't get me wrong I thought pretty hard about if they were too high, but at least making the playoffs seems like a definitive yes.

Most annoying thing with KC is the offense looks a bit more mortal, but their defense looks really stout so they are in it no matter what. The only good game their offense had was against a rotting corpse in CHI.

Im hoping that Miami can beat KC for us and then we beat them as well to help secure the #1 seed. Obviously we will need other things to work out for us down the stretch.

They started 2-3 last year, but beyond that, they just have alot of talent everywhere on the roster. If Burrows can make an in-season recovery, and they stay healthy elsewhere, they'll make a run.

Not saying it wont happen, as they are very talented like you say, but they are abysmal on offense right now. Burrow is playing bottom-2 level QB right now. Almost across the board Zach Wilson has better stats. I know he is injured, but there are limitations to that offense beyond Burrows calf. They actually lost some real talent in FA (both starting safeties and Hayden Hurst). Also Burrow really relied on the defense to win key games. The Patriots, Buccaneers and Ravens in the playoff game come to mind just from last year.

TLDR I dont expect the Bengals to come back this year.

I don’t want to hear anymore about the calf.

    That happened in July.

He’s got round the clock care, and has played 4 games now.

If he threw for 300 yards and 3 TDs it would be story after story about what a warrior he is, what a leader he is.

Like you said, the media gave Allen 0 pass last year with the elbow.

The excuses Burrow is receiving from the media over this calf is insane. Like hes the first QB to play injured. Injury or not he STINKS!

If he is the second best QB in the league, like many fans and media believed, you dont play this bad over a 4-game stretch ever.

While Tua has been red hot and Hill and Waddle are devastating weapons it would not surprise me if the Fish are scheming to primarily use their running game to keep Josh and our O off the field. Mostert has had big games against us and Achane seems as scary fast as Breece Hall. Mix in a few quick slants to Tyreek and we could get burned for some long plays

I agree that stopping the run will be a huge key in this game. We have had good success stopping the run at the LOS but we struggle with tackling when they get into space like on second level runs or screens. We NEED to clean this up against Miami.

The Bills are under real pressure in this game. Losing at home and falling two games back is a decent size hole to recover from.  This game is going to tell us more about the Bills than the Dolphins.

Are the 2023 Bills a team that can look

prepared, execute well and win important games they are favored to win.  Or are they like the recent Bills teams that can generate impressive statistics against poor teams, but struggle with good teams.

The last two seasons we beat the Chiefs in the regular season. Those games were circled in red right when the schedule came out. We can win big games in the regular season and still fade in the playoffs.

Obviously a win here is huge for the division title, but it doesn't nullify our chances in February.

Elam needs to be activated for this one.  We need speed.

I could see him being activated but not playing significant time. He hasnt even dressed yet. You dont go from street clothes to starting without an injury or injuries.

But I could see on the seldom blitz, where they NEED man coverage at the line you bring him in for a few plays.

I don’t think Vegas fully trusts Miami yet…they did the same thing last year against bottom feeders/banged up teams then fell on their face when they got a few playoff caliber teams in a row on the schedule. It’s a bit of a gimmick offense where tua just lets it fly to his first read as fast as he can and idk if it’s gonna be us necessarily but someone is gonna crack it.  Pats did a decent job and they probably would’ve won that game if they weren’t missing 4 offensive linemen.

to me, we are a beefed up version of the pats and the pats played them pretty tough.  The Denver game means absolutely nothing.

I also feel better about McD in control, being able to use the NE game as a template for a scheme. Last year Frazier just did what he always did. It was so aggravating that SF and LAC essentially stopped Miami and then they came to Buffalo and looked explosive again (even though we won).

take his first read away make him hesitate an extra second or two and move off his spot, advantage Bills D if they can do that

This sentence gets repeated so often nowadays. Its becoming like when people would describe how to guard Curry back in 2015-16. "Just pick him up at half court, get up in him". Its much easier said than done.

But I would expect, if anyone can do it we can. While the secondary isnt fast they are disciplined and experienced. Thus far our D-line has held up against the run and pass by rushing only 4. That should allow us to drop 7-8 all game without worry. As YPP said on twitter, we need to ensure we load up on the short side of the field. That is where they primarily look to throw.

  13. Obviously putting up 70 is insane but a few things:

    - Their first two games came down to the last play. NE was 1 foot away from converting that first down and having a real shot at winning. NE really slowed them down in the second half. They can be slowed down.

    - Last season their offense was on fire (as was ours) in the beginning but things change, defenses adjust. Our defense is playing as good as any right now and I like our offense against their defense more then Their O against our D.

This is going to be a tough game for both teams

I would switch out Denver 2020 to 49ers 2020.  That was the "Josh Allen and the Bills offense has arrived and are legit" game, IMO. We had put up points on some weaker defenses, but we dominated those boys all game.

That run of games: SF, Denver, NE, Mia (I know the Pitt game was in there too) was the most impressive display of quarterbacking Ive ever seen and probably will ever see. Allen was completely unstoppable for those games.

  15. I think Morris will be more than serviceable in a spot-start as the Knox replacement. He can handle more of the blocking duties that Knox does and we will just rely a little more on Kincaid in the pass game. Morris has proven to be an effective pass catcher as well at times.

    We have good TE depth.

Reasons for concern that this could be a trap game:

    • Bills play Dolphins in week 4
    • Eric Bienemy appears to be doing a good job as Commanders new OC
    • QB Sam Howell is a playmaking athlete
    • Good offensive skill position weapons in RB Brian Robinson, and WRs Jahan Dotson, Terry McLaurin, Curtis Samuel (I think TE Logan Thomas won't play)
    • Good defensive talents in edge rushers Montez Sweat, Chase Young, LB Jamin Davis, stout DTs Daron Payne, Jonathan Allen, and S Kamren Curl
    • Commanders are at home
    • Commanders are 2-0
    • Bills always have a target on their back

All that said, if the Bills play up to their capabilities they should win without too much suspense... but this is also a game the Bills could lose if they're not focused.

I feel like Buffalo under McD doesnt often fall victim to trap games. We generally beat bad teams down handily. Its usually a talking point that our stats are inflated against bad teams.
