  1. From the little I have seen of Matt Ryan I think he is a tad bit overrated. The reason I say this is because he plays in a dome stadium 9+ games a year has 2 pro bowl receivers and and played in one of the worst defensive divisions(Bucs,Carolina,Saints) and still lead a middle of pack of offense that scored on 40 more points for the season than the Bills(2.5Pts per game avg).

The reason for this in the games I see him play in is he has a tendency to not look off receivers. I have to go back and look at the Atlanta games to proof my point.

I will admit he would be better than what we have at this present time

I tend to agree with this sentiment. I am actually unsure if he would be better than, say, Cutler. Personality-wise, I'm sure he's a better fit that Cutler but the cost-benefit analysis may not favor him.

Both (Cutler and Ryan) are better than we have now.

  2. I would be surprised if he is gone. He has a player option on his rookie deal and there is no way he is going to make more next year if he hits free agency (he is due $5.9 mil). He'll want another opportunity to have a career year before hitting the market to try and make bank. As it stands I think he'll get a 3-year, $10 mil deal like Sproles if he voids his contract and tests FA.

  3. "1. Manny Lawson LB, Worked out well in Pettines system but does not have a trues home in the current defense."

Prior to coming to the Bills, Lawson excelled in the 4-3 in Cincy. To the point where he was considered a better fit as a 4-3 SAM than the 3-4 linebacker/4-3 DE he was projected as coming out of college.

  4. Here is an article in the Washington Post regarding an initiative by chef David Chang who is a redskins fan. Disillusioned with the way the team is being run, he is starting a kickstarter campaign to crowd fund the purchase of the team. The result would be a quasi-green bay packers type ownership structure, which the NFL has prohibited. Fans have stated for years the similarities between the Packers and the Bills (championships aside) franchises and fan bases, crowd funding with kickstarter may be our path to success.

Just an interesting idea I thought I would pass along, however, if it does gain some groundswell it could be cool.

  6. Why not give the guy some credit? Maybe the coaches know exactly what they have in him due to his extensively documented history, the fact that they brought him in pre-draft, and have been working with him since April. Give the other guys who a still unproven a chance to show their stuff.

A 5/6th WR is kept based on pure potential alone (see: Easley) and I think we all agree that he has the highest ceiling of a WR we have had in a bills uniform for quite some time. I'm glad hogan and Kaufman look good against the 2s and 3s but does that make them more valuable than the ceiling Rogers has? IMO, no.

    Clearly I'm a Rogers fluffer...

  7. I drafted Fred in the 2nd and CJ in the 9th last year. Keeping CJ for a 6th this year, probably won't draft any other bills unless I can get Stevie in the 8th or 9th as a WR3. May take a late season flyer on EJ if he improves and is available, I can stash him on my bench as a keeper for the following year. (although the possibility of keeping CJ for another year for a 3rd is pretty enticing)

I have zero problems drafting/starting rival players, as someone previously stated it's a great hedge against real life disappointment. As a matter of fact, that is why I started playing fantasy football...

  8. I would love to see all of this, but I think removing Stevie from the field for anything is absolutely ridiculous. In any way shape or form. I would never in a million years remove Stevie from the field for anyone else on this team. He has the ability to get open every single play, short yardage especially. So if your talking about Woods, Rogers, and CJ running short, then I'd rather have SJ in there than one of the unproven rookies.

Getting open is one thing, catching the ball when open is another...

  9. Not worried but would certainly like Da'Rick to pan out. Frankly, I wanted them to take him in the third so getting him as a UDFA was fantastic. He sounded pretty humble and driven in that John Murphy interview so maybe the light has turned on. Specifically the part where he was talking about the combine and about how it was hard for him to talk bad about himself at first but by the end he had the mentality "well Da'Rick, this is what you did...".

Not to read into it too much (since he should be grateful) but here are a few of his most recent tweets:

Great first day of OTA's with the veterans! I can't wait to get back out there and learn as much as I can from those guys! #lambogrind

I just want to thank Buddy Nix for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to succeed with an amazing Buffalo Bills organization !!

  10. Not to jump the gun on switching to the 46 but if we do end up running it, would Merriman be worth resigning? People knock him for his injury history but he is a good locker room guy and helps with free agents. Who knows he might even be productive.
